  1. @XH558 mentioned he had seen it and asked me about it, then said he didn't have the Wotsits to hand :( and I had exactly the right amount to a few hundred pounds - so man maths told me it was an omen :innocent:

  6. ahhh one day... :)

@Exige without wishing to sound rude, how many grands was it in the end?
When are we going to see you with a works MotoGP bike in the lounge?

    well done btw.

Oh definitely, they're masters of the noble art of no quarter given in that respect. They were originally what was left of HT Automotive who used to take those double page spreads out in Superbike magazine before they folded and John whatever his name was legged it with the cash, and robbed peter's bike to put it on pauls!

Steve Hillary who started Moto Rapido started there as well, it was John, Rob and Steve. There was the whole Ferracci trained race mechanics and engine builder line they used to push.

Bottom line is they've had essentially the cream of the chelsea clientelle and wallet elite at their door much like John Hackett. And yes they do actually bill for cable ties and probably wipes!

  7. Don't mind saying - it was up for £26k which I felt very reasonable considering UK Bike, 1200 miles, mint condition & the current market (remember kids investment can go down as well as up) paid £25,750

So yes, although not purely an investment - as it may go in my living room as art too. (My other 2 1098R's will be on the road this year though, so no one need ask if I am going to ride it, I am not :yum)

No Moto GP bike here, my bike buying days are over (all available funds diminished) and I need to sell some of my lesser bikes to help early retirement or part time working in my full time job soon... :):upyeah:still got a sizable mortgage to pay off too :sob:

  8. Well done mate, you’ve had a goid eye as well. Top darts on the desmo, when my fortunes change I hope I’ll have the same luck and astuteness as you :)

  9. Some of the tales I hear certainly make you wonder if some of these folk's money v sense needs a little calibration.

  10. Tax avoidance.

  11. You're not wrong.

I remember a classic one where back in HT automotive days a guy bought a full titanium works corse system for his 916. three and a half back then I think it cost him, all his torque went and it seemed very peaky - he asked them about this only to be told that he then needed many grands of engine work (kit parts) in order to make the system not make his 916 feel like a two stroke.

The clients there have LOTS of money to burn and like to be told what to spend it and how much to spend rather than what they actually need.

  12. I won't mention the actual dealer. But one of my old TD mates (not a rich man at all) was a regular visitor to aforementioned dealer. I used to shudder a the sight of his invoices, some of it for basic, simple stuff, new battery charged a 3 x the price even Halfords sell the same item for. I used to almost beg him not to go there and get bummed!
By all means charge yr hourly rate for the specialist stuff but give some quarter elsewhere!
