It's surprising the difference just handguards can make when it's cold, even without heated grips. I took my KTM Adv out on a cold but dry and bright winter's day a few years ago. Out for a couple of hours and enjoyed the ride. When I got home I thought I'd take my Superduke out as well and give it a run. No handguards on that bike and within half an hour my fingers were numb and I'd had enough. Wind chill has a big effect.
