  1. Forgot to mention the sound!!! it is very meaty and spits when you close the throttle. It is much more responsive and honestly does feel like a different bike. Absolutely love it. Thanks especially to isaachunt who helped me out massively

  2. Hi Liam,
I ran mine for 2yrs with just a Zard Penta end can fitted and it made no difference whatsoever to the way the bike rode, it just sounded & looked a lot nicer. Last year I removed the Cat (used a Leo Vince kit too) and fitted a K & N air filter and ran it like that (with the Lambda sensors still fitted/connected) and ran it like that for a couple of months. It sounded even better but needed to refitted the baffles into the Zard so not to pi55 the neighbours off too much, it ran “ok”. Since then I’ve had a re-map done (Lambda's removed too) by Mark at BSD in Peterborough (BSD Performance – The home of motorcycle performance tuning - Ducati | BSD Performance ) what a difference !!!, it’s totally transformed the bike and is by far the best £350 I’ve spent on any mod in 40yrs of riding.
    Hope that helps

  3. Yeah - that's the thing isn't it....explaining to someone who hasn't had it done....got my 1100 done 6 weeks back or so. Before I went I was kinda loathed to give someone money for not adding anything physical to it....but boy, does it go now....just saving up the money to get my RSV4 done as well....its well fast enough but getting it mapped apparently makes it more driveable, and im assuming like the hyper it will use less fuel...

HyperC - how did he do yours? did he map each cylinder individually or do the engine as a whole? just curious...

  4. Thanks HyperC, out of curiosity is yours a 1100 or 796?
Also, how different are we talking? Sound better? Faster? Better fuel delivery?
I think the next thing to do will be to re-map the bike.
    Thanks

    Liam

  5. Well if its like mine better everything...

    1. Fueling. No more snatchy throttle at low speed (crawling through traffic) I used to be either pulling the cluth in or changing up and down....all that is gone.
    2. Torque - midrange much punchier.
    3. 5bhp up through the entire range.
    4. The best of all - im guessing im using about 20% less fuel day to day. I don't really measure at the pump. I have some plastic canisters that I fill up at the petrol station and I know exactly how much I use in a trip to and from work, and im using a lot less since it was done.... 20140315_140908compress.jpg

One thing which will be interesting is when I come to reinsure it. Ducati claim that my bike stock has 95bhp. As you can see from the dyno that is way off as after mines still only putting out 89, which means that with my performance mods the insurance company says does it increase the output more than 5bhp which if they go by Ducati's stats then no...

    • Thanks Thanks x 1
  6. Thanks Comfysofa, that is a very informative graph.
Are you looking at £350 then for a dyno wherever you go?
I ride to work everyday into London, so the idea of no snatchy throttle would be great.

  7. Depends who you go to....the guy that I went to "CJS performance" is a ducati specialist. If you don't mind the drive and pre-arrange it with him he'll do it on a Saturday while you wait....it will take about 6 hours or so but you can kick your heels around the workshop looking at various Duc's in a state of repair. They do race prep as well so there some tasty stuff to look at.

Apparently some tuners will put the "sniffer" in the tailpipe so they tune across both of the cylinders which he reckons will yield good results but not the best.

Chris maintains that the best way to do a duc is to treat each cylinder as a separate engine....have a look at the "dyno time" thread that I created....I went into what I saw in detail. Oh the other thing he did was to increase the redline from 8.5k to 9k, blank off the flapper valve motor and disable the o2 sensors....a lot of wiring got removed that day!

  8. Hi Liam,
Mine’s a 796, after taking it to Mark @ BSD in Peterborough (it’s was much closer to me in N/W London and both have superb reputations) it runs soooo sweet. It now has the same power at the rear wheel it had at the crank from the factory, the snatchy throttle has gone, way much more pull from 2k right to the increased limiter and it uses less fuel, it’s a no brainer m8 honestly. Whatever you do don’t go the power commander route, it’s a waste when either BSD or CJS can do it properly for you.

  9. HyperC, your hyper looks great, very clean looking. The zard system looks very good on the bike too. I would love a Akrapovic double can system as I think they look the best. Never seen them on a hyper though!

The only thing is the distance to these dyno places. I am in Guildford, surrey. Are there any more local to me which anyone knows of?

I am looking to do this asap now. almost want it done from reading what both you and comfysofa have said.

  10. also where did you get that carbon part clutch cover? Looks very nice.

  11. I'm afraid not Liam, they are the only 2 places I know of that can re-map the 796 ECU, it's not the same type/make as the 1100.

  12. Fair enough, I will probably try and go for CJS as they are open all day saturday and it will have to be done on a saturday. Plus its 20 miles nearer. On the edge of the current hyper tank range!
Where did you get the clutch cover HyperC? It looks very smart and I am looking for something like that.

  13. I'd like to get mine done but I think it's £499 in cjs and Peterborough is way too far for me.

  14. If you're in London its a couple of hours drive...weather is getting better....

Think about it this way....once its done it'll be fun driving home!

  15. Liam, I've been told by others that have been to CJS that they're a bit more expensive but it depends on what/where fits for you. I live in NW London so BSD was only an hour's ride, as Comfy says, the ride back was much more enjoyable and I used less fuel too :).
I've bough all my Ducati carbon bits from Gary - Hypermotard Monster Streetfighter CARBON FIBRE

  16. Gary's got some great bits and pieces on his site. May invest in a few bits.
Fair enough, I will give them both a call.
BSD is 375+vat (i just called and checked).
Very true about the ride back. Only thing is BSD are not open full day saturday so I'd have to take a day off work to give them enough time to do the dyno and remap. Are you looking around 6hrs as previously mentioned somewhere?

  17. Don't know if it's any good but Dave Wood Racing will do Siemens ECU for £350 incl VAT

  18. I think - (rough guess this is...) youll get from London to clutton in about 2 hrs....to get to clutton youd come off the m4 at the Bath Junction. Reckon its about 20 mins or so from the junction. I only live about 20 mins away myself so if youre thinking of doing it and need some help finding it PM me...when/if you do go they don't have any sign posts or anything advertising themselves so they don't get done over as theyre out in the middle of nowhere on a trading estate....

  19. Within about 5 seconds of exiting the trading estate on mine once done I really didn't want to get off of it but I got into hot water when I got home as I was only supposed to be out for a few hours and ended up being out 7-8 hours or so....
