  1. It seems it's an old racing chain, not the ZVMX it was sold to me as.

  2. You've got a mismatch. Ain't going to work, or in the very least it'll compromise the chain integrity. Not worth the risk IMO.

  3. Indeed.
Thanks to Cream Revenge though, I have been able to source a DID 525EV link which is on its way.

  4. I had a similar issue with my 750s 520 chain.....

When DID upgraded the 520ZVM and 520ZVM 2 (essentially the same chain) to the 520 ZVM-X chain; DID retained the same part / reference numbers for them which unfortunately included the ZJ link.

I gather this did for a while cause an awful lot of confusion with various dealers.

Anyway my chain albeit was in good condition but ‘out of date’ and the link I required is the old type ZJ link.

Fortunately the one I already had purchased some time ago was supposedly the correct one and having fitted it with the tool suggested, I did it successfully………..the flared end dimension of the pins even tied up with what DID advise in their instructions.

  5. Luckily, I was able to get the last new old stock link the guy I've ordered it from had, otherwise I'd have been screwed.
It seems the forum member I bought it from stuck the chain in a ZVMX box and when he decided to have a clear-out, he didn't realise or remember the box and chain didn't match, so the ZVMX link I bought separately didn't fit... :(
