Why? He sits one point ahead of Jack Miller in the championship. Obviously I would not read too much into this after 2 races. However, considering Aprilia is an inferior bike compared to Ducati, Aleix done rather well at Losail. With Iannone banned, I cannot see anyone else to ride that bike better. (from the available riders)
Rumour has it Dovi was faster on lap 2 of day 1 than Savadori!!! Also doing the rounds Savadori will not be racing at Portimao through injury and Aprilia have requested a rider change... permanently! All rumours though....
I have little wish to be unkind but being faster than Savadori is no accolade. I have absolutely no idea why Aprilia even gave him the ride in the first place given that until the last 3 rounds of last year, his (most recent) background was Superbikes. Andy
