  1. Mechanical sympathy seems to rate very low these days. And if the car goes wrong you blame anybody - car manufacturer, last place that it was serviced, Boris, your MP, or anybody but yourself. Seems to be the very "now" culture!

  2. Strongly agree ^ - "we" have been spoilt in that expectations of all "affordable" luxuries etc are now so high that it's almost taken for granted that they will perform flawlessly. Instead of deciding to tolerate the 90% efficient, merely adequate device, even if it has other endearing qualities that the sterile, soul-less, (nearer to) 100% efficient device doesn't possess*, more often than not, it still gets thrown out of the pram now.

  3. It’s more controlled and easier on the gearbox to slow in gear then brake and put in the right gear at the end. Rather than clunk thru the gearbox on the way.

If electric does really become the future, it won’t matter as most cars will be auto anyway

  4. If you really want your licence back listen to the instructor, he knows how you'll impress any assessor. So put up with it, if you want to slip into bad ways afterwards that's up to you.
But take his advice calmly in the meantime it's little to ask.
