  1. SP5’s in general but he is a touch on the tight side !

  2. If your buying then you're always tight with the folding stuff and if your selling...it's worth millions.;)

I never got a chance to refurb much last time mine was out, or take pictures even mainly due to health but is in good fettle overall. I can't determine engine rebuild history that well but it has twin injectors per cylinder although a Strada.

  4. Unless your motor's kicking out over 140 rwbhp? There's NO NEED for twin injectors.
In fact the standard single "Greens" fitted to the '92 851 and later 888 Strada's will flow enough fuel to make 130rwbhp.
The twin injectors fitted to the 888SP/SPS's were for homologation purposes only.
My 916cc '92 851 makes 128 at 9,200 rpm (well more than a 888SPS aka SP(4)S or SP5) and the single greens never got anywhere near running out of available injector time.
My 955cc 851 is still running single injectors, but I've upgraded them to 4 hole items and expect around 140rwbhp at under 10,000rpm.

  5. I agree Steve from my own research and experience with occasional 996S* problems on low throttle opening (I even have the single injector Ultimap chip on standby) let alone your lengthy experience, I was just declaring present state of engine. The good thing is that unlike* I never had any baulking effect no matter how differently I used the throttle lowdown, and was impressed with delivery and with whoever had set it up.

  6. The low down fuelling problems on the 996 Strada and 996S were down to the 1.6M ECU* on these models firing both injectors all of the time. The 916SP/SPS and 996SPS were fitted with a P8 "Big Brain" ECU that fired single injectors up to peak torque and then used both (twin) injectors per cylinder.
*This is why owners used to fit the Ultimap UM222 chip, that converted the twin injectors to single per cylinder, it cleaned up the lower range without losing any of the upper range power.
I run a P8 on my 851, because it also allows me to map each cylinder individually.

  8. Hi Chris,
I hope I didn't come across as talking down to you, it wasn't my intention.
Rather I was trying to enlighten lesser knowledgeable owners.

  9. I had better not get you talking to my wife, as she would rather it wasn’t in the family!

  10. Hi Steve
You've swept me away, a rare thing on here, there was no need as I thought i knew what you meant. You are the 851/888 font of knowledge as far as i'm concerned, and well aware of how much you have freely imparted online and particularly the amount of effort you've put into the 851 888 Forum in terms of maintenance and tuning help. I hope it returns with a similar Format but maybe with some form of adverts/membership to help sustain it.

  11. Are we including those who once owned an 851/888? :sob:

  12. you know the answer to that one, :) nothing to stop you adding all your experiences, did you take it to Isle of Man etc.

    P.S. Get another one!

  13. don't just don't lol

  14. I've to admit that's pretty damn good in stock form, excluding the cans & bar ends.

  15. It’s great that we’ve sort of got ourselves organised on here. There wasn’t much traffic on the 851/888 forum but it was generally top notch stuff . ED4DAE08-446D-4645-95D0-0CFBE8B957E9.jpeg

memory shot, is that an 851 or 888 "officially" Count?

I met someone at Boxhill who stopped there on route to home after purchasing an 888 (was on trailer). It was a lovely low-mileage stock bike but had sat for a while but nothing terrible, maybe someone on here?
