DUCATI 996 FOR SALE (2000 x reg)

  1. Uh I also do not want to be part of the story where someone says I got it at a steal which it seems everyone who buys proper cheap one says admitting price was rather low and they were prepared to pay more.

  2. no, as I said above service history and the owner play a large part in buying decision regardless of mileage. If you think low miles equals probably engine failure...words fail

  3. My 748 does around 500 miles a year but it's serviced every year too.

My mechanical ineptitude doesn't come into it, as I pay someone to be inept on my behalf.

  4. Low mileage 5y old bike probably not. 5k miles on 14y old bike would so be on my mind. For example seals in engine are meant to be wet with oil/coolant some kind of fluid. If bike was standing for a year or more will they be? Rubber perishes if kept dry much faster.

  5. i am not new to bikes and can see when something is obviously wrong. this is my second 996 and it is mint... the guy who sold it to me had it from new and with the original bill of sale. he nearly cried when i rode away. it wasn't his only bike an he only sold it as he needed dosh. i have full service history with it and bike looks and feels like new.
i am going to use it next summer proper ,but at the moment it will just wait form me over the winter in my garage.
bike is the only method of transport i have and i use them daily almost full 12 month per year with the exception of when i am away on hols or when snow coming down , but this is not the only bike i own and i have panigale to run around on.

500 miles per year when you have few bikes to choose from is just fine. i dont think i ever done more than 2500 miles per year on any of the bikes i owned and i had plenty of them and as i mentioned i use them daily

i paid reasonable amount for my Yellow 996, seller was happy with the cash, i and was happy with my purchase.

  6. know who to take advice from..

  7. also, i didn't say that i bought my 996 cheap, i just said that both of the bikes for sale mentioned in this thread ore overpriced.

  8. Yes but that is because everyone wants to huggle so you start higher.

  9. i didn't huggle and paid asking price. cos it was realistic and the bike was as it left factory , unmolested and with not a single bit of cheap carbon on it.

  10. when I bought my 999s the fellow I bought off had every mot from new (he bought it new).

    it is a 2003s .

interesting to see his interest wane as the year on year mileage reduced until for the last 2 years of his ownership he did mileage to the mot test station and back (about 40 mile in 2.5 years).

hence when I bought it a full fluid drop and service was done

  11. Surprised its still running

  12. Exactamundo. But as you say Bradders. time to put this to bed.

  13. Now on the bay of Fleas !!!
Roll on the time wasters lol

  14. Just put bid in for it :)

    But to low

  15. Mate

Not being rude to you but you could probably get one with a service and a warranty for what you want

    Sorry bud

  16. What's your best cash price

  17. Well just to let you know it's sold for £4500 to the first person to come and see it !!!
The bike is lovely it just needed seeing ! ;) Proper ducati service history up until 12000 miles !
but after my dealings with ducati dealers I wonder if that counts for much !

  18. Good on you mine sold in standard trim within a 2 weeks for price I was asking in stock, no haggling. I offered him bike with all goodies for 4k (less hassle for me) but he pulled the line of stock is better blah blah blah I will give you 150 more for so I said no lets do stock. 2h later he also called and bought termis for price I was listing them on ebay (soo 200GBP go figure) but paid cash with bike. So I parted with the bike and termis for 3.7k. Sold front hugger for 115 GBP few days later. Still have rear hugger and few other bits and bobs that will eventually sell for about 150-200 so at 4k. Just selling slowly as waiting for free listing days on ebay like this weekend.

Funny enough the guy that was doing me a favour offering 2.5k contacted me last week saying he can offer 3.5k with just pipes. I guess I was being silly at 4k with all goodies as he said and I should have taken his kind offer of 2.5k at start he NOT.

Uh currently I am 100GBP over what I paid for it so essentially it cost me insurance, petrol and coolant expansion tank.
