Ducati friendly B&B in Cornwall

Discussion in 'Lounge' started by Ronnie Ringding, Oct 22, 2012.

  1. I have a house in Perranporth, so whilst i may not need to use your B&B services might just drag you out once you get your misfire fixed with some my Cornish Ducati riding friends.

As for routes for rideouts just keep off the A30 come the summertime. A39 Atlantic Highway up to Bude then onto Bideford is a good start after that just keep the tank topped up and and your good to go.

7 minutes to the beach? your either walking slowly or taking the scenic route  Great mix of pubs ranging from the family based establishment to the hardend drinkers and some cracking restaurants. Good friends of mine own and run The Waterfront Restaurant so i might be a little biased but i keep going back there as the food is DAMN good.

  2. Dry/clean-up/change the coil packs.

  3. Plenty of towels and somewhere to air whilst out.

a few spare insurance approved padlock and chain combos (pain to lug around, and for some, insurance would be invalid should the bike be nicked without when parked overnight).

sounds excellent, when will it be open?

  4. If you're particularly marketing yourself at bikers, I'd say (apart from the usual decent showers with hot water, generously sized bath towels, good choice at breakfast - ideally with the offer of porridge and scrambled eggs) essentials would be a gravel free parking area, a drying room and recommendations for good local riding routes.

Having had a few soggy biking holidays (Somerset & Wales over the Jubilee bank holiday in particular) not having to drape every chair, windowsill, rail and radiator in a small bedroom with 2 riders' damp kit, and not having to put wet gloves on the next day, would be a definite plus point.

Often by the time you arrive at your destination on a bike, you're tired and the old brain is starting to shut down, so not having to manoeuvre on gravel could avoid a lot of dropped bikes and annoyed riders.

  5. Really silly but one thing that really hacks me off when it's not there.
Tea and coffee making facilities in the bedroom.
    It's amazing how many don't.
I like a cuppa when I get up and if I can't sleep.

Local sourced produce like you say Sausages...eggs . Jams.

Cream tea and scones ;) not that Rodders clotted cream that's muck! :) :) :)

My friend quit up here and relocated
Loves it. As long as you put into the community usually your excepted and it's fine.

It's a great idea to make it biker friendly as sadly lots if places are not :(

  6. A few of the local butchers (proper butchers, not supermarket ones) make their own sausages as well as getting in lots of local produce

  7. No gravel as its a paved drive and a patio out back for hard stand if the garage is full.
Tea and coffee in the room is arranged (with bisquits of course).
The drying room is a challange but I will sort it.
Big towels and hot showers ok.
It will be a biker friendly B&B, but not soley aimed at bikers.
I can't specialise that much as its the family bucket and spade brigade in the summer.

  8. not bike related -

secure surfboard storage area and drying room to hang wetsuits?

  9. Oh I wouldnt be so sure

  10. plenty of sockets in the room to charge ones electric toothbrush, sat nav and phone. Oh Im def coming to stay from reading all the other posts.

  11. We always use the butcher opposite the park. 5 min walk. Best Cornish pasties EVER!
So we will aquire meat from him and look for a local baker for bread.

  12. The plan is to have a wetsuite hose down area with hanging space to dry them round the back.
Might have to consider using this for wet riding gear too. Have a heated vented cupboard outside. Thinking cap on.

Outside hose for Bike washing too.

  15. You can borrow mine Viv. Be good for it to be used!

  16. mmm has anyone said hot tub

  17. Of course not Viv. Bring the kids.
The beach you can see is 3 miles of fine sand only 7 mins walk.

If you have ever seen the program 'Seaside Rescue', this is the beach they film the life guards on.

  18. Oh you want the SEA!
Well its over there.............................between the land and the sky!

    Free WI FI.
Though the password will be revoked while I am playing COD!
Nothing worse than lag when holding a frag grenade for too long 'cause someone started a youtube video of a dog schooching on the carpet. BOOOOOM!
Just kidding. WiFi free though I hold my breath on the bandwidth.

Hot Tub, no, but we have a bath and a Karcher pressure washer we can duct tape to the taps.

  19. I'd agree with most of the points on here, secure parking, good breakfasts, showers, good routes, good local hostelries and restaurants etc but one thing that really bugs Nicky and me is those crappy UHT milk pots so proper milk with the tea and coffee facilities please. Oh and don't forget we need a good advert on here because I hope you're going to be really busy with forum members visiting and supporting you in your new venue. Good luck from both of us and we hope to come and see you!
