999 Ducati999 Oil Strainer Help

Discussion in '749 / 999' started by Alastair_999, May 3, 2026.

  1. Hi all. With the good weather upon us today was oil change time. After a fight with the oil filter - fitted by Ducati and very very tight I wanted to check and clean the strainer. I took the aluminium cover off to get access but the retaining 10mm hex was so tight that I dare not put any more force on it. I was using a 2 ft torque wrench with some fair force. Are they loctited in or a reverse thread. Is this normal? Appreciate any guidance from the experts out there. Thanks

  2. If the filter was tight the strainer bolt would likely be the same?

  3. Thanks. I’m glad to see he also dropped the cap into the oil by accident when exposing the strainer. However he was braver than me, I was more or less using the same extensions as him but bottled it. Too late now as it’s full of nice new oil.
