Ever Been Beaten By A Car?

  1. Yeah, a well piloted GTR will give you some fun. Pricewise they fall into obtainable for nutty petrolheads. Consequently, it's not uncommon to see them tuned north of 800bhp. I raced 2 at a Vmax event and beat them both but I didn't talk to the owners and guessed they were standard.

Your man in the Merc AMG GT was either inexperienced or a cock. I'd never brake a check a biker, very dangerous for the rider. These cars can slow down much quicker than a bike. And like you say, you don't know your play mate.

  2. yes 4pot,normally i run 1.5 bar, which is 460,more than enough for the road as it only weighs 980kg.
it has a rev dependant auto gearchange,so if your bold enough floor it and let it bash up the gears, the front comes up and steering goes light, same as the bike.:D

  3. Beaten by a Porsche 968 when I was riding my XJ900F many years ago. However, in my defence, my mate on a GSXR750 was holding me up by overtaking me on the straights and then blocking me on the corners. My other mate eventually took the Porsche on his ZZR1100 but he looked white as a sheet afterwards. He said he managed to overtake at 160mph, so I guess I was never in contention for that particular race. That was the only time a car ever did for me on the XJ.

    My 750Sport ie gets trounced on a daily basis : o )

On my 999, I have never been diddled by a car when I have been out for lark. The closest one came to holding me off was a Nissan Skyline which I managed to haul in and overtake after a few miles. That was a spirited ride!

If the right car and driver came along, I'm sure I'd be beaten handsomely but it hasn't happened yet. I'm no bike goat, I have been done by bikes, including a Multistrada on a road I do not know well - he left me for dust on that stretch. I got my revenge later on a stretch I know very well, but it still stung. Matey on the MS blanked me at the café so I guess he got stung too. Heh.

Tend not to race now, for all the reasons mentioned in this thread. It's something you hopefully get out of your system, before you're unlucky. It's a rare day I'll have more than a casual play. Current points tally helps me focus, too.

  4. Racing on the road is for mugs.

Well, you cant hand trophies out, its a bit OTT ;)

  5. I recently encountered a lovely looking green Aventador at a set of lights early in a Saturday morning(obviously on a drag strip) he looked over at me and I knew he was going to nail it, I’ve still not worked out how to use the launch control on the V4 yet so had to do a normal launch which I didn’t do badly but not the best, car got a bit in front for about 15 feet then the bike pulled away from it hard. Slowed down a bit further along and he gave me a beep and a thumbs up before we headed out separate ways.
I’ve no doubt that on a track or on a twisty road a quick car would drop a bike off, bikes just can’t corner or brake as well as a well set up car can. Saying that though for a car you’d need something very special to stay with a modern superbike from 0-186.

  6. That sounds a fun machine! Impressive bhp/tonne figure too. Is the chassis a match for the poke?

  7. Oh man, you'd need to be a million plus exotica car to stay with a bike to vmax. Bugatti Chiron? Ferrari La Ferrari? or maybe a McLaren 720? They are next level fast! And a steal at 260K

  8. it only has 195 yoko 048 tyres on it so this is the limiting factor, suspension is std in layout with adj dampers, aframe on the rear live axle,
drift machine with the tc switched off:eek:

  9. Yeah, I don't doubt it!!

I'm running 305mm Michelin PS4S's on the rear. They stick like shit to a blanket but they do let go with ham fisted corner exits :astonished::upyeah:

  10. would love to get wider tyres in on this but the sleeper look would be ruined with big arches

  11. Sleepers- Went to an event recently and there was a totally bog stock 'looking' Nissan Quashqai. But they had managed to shoe horn a 3.8 GTR engine into it then tune it north of 1000hp. A 250mph sleeper :joy:

  13. A guy I know has an 800 brake gtr and it’ll blow a 650 brake turbo unsurprisingly out of the water.

I’d still rather have a turbo though :)

  14. No

  15. Came across this sleeper a few months back, I’m sure it would give a few bikes a good run...

I don’t mind a drag race but pushing on with a car or bike through the twisties is never a good idea, but most of us are guilty of being lured in..

  17. It’s not to far off the original to my untrained eye, wide arches, tyres and the roll cage are a bit of a giveaway
