My Phone overheating, and actually being reliant on it in general, is my worry, and why I want to be able to swap back to the TomTom easily if need be. My Samsung S Something or other does work fine for SatNav in our Motorhome which has an Android Auto Head unit, but of course the cab of that is kept at a lower temperature most of the time with the phone in the open rather than in a Tank Bag in the sun.
It could be that throttling the processor will reduce the heating for the Android phones...as simple as using the power saving option... (which extends the battery life through processor throttling). Could be worth a try?
