Generally modern tractors do 30mph. We have a couple of JCB fastracs that'll do about 45mph.

 

What traffic jam, the road ahead is always clear when I'm out on my tractor.

 

This is what they use in this area............at least three of them using the roads to access the fields, when they could quite easily go across the bloody fields.

And when they go past my house everything rattles and shakes..............not good at gone midnight when they finish.

 

I'm sure they turn out specially at midnight just to annoy you!

 

That's a nice looking piece of kit, you should ask to drive it.

Are they more for towing that being a tractor?

 

Its got tracks, so its forgiven. Probably only does 5 mph though

They can be used for field work but we tend to use them for towing when we're going any distance. We have about 100 acres of land that's about ten miles away so when we need to transport anything there we use the Fastracs because of the speed. We also use them for transporting livestock to market and hauling feed. The big advantage of them is because we are using them for our own business and not for reward we can run them on red diesel and no road tax as they are classed for agricultural use.

 

You mostly beef?

There are some beef around me, I'm fairly sure most of the farms are milk though.

 

Mainly dairy 500 cows and about 2000 sheep.

 

Down the road massive chicken houses, the owner had them closed and was working away at them, he told me he was putting glazed windows in them because tesco wanted to buy chickens that could see or get day light. So, yeh supermarket s have a lot of influence.

 

Yeh some sheep too, but not 2000.

 

Further down around the corner, someone had bloody lamas in the front garden. I mean lamas, what the hell. I must go by for a nosey to see if they are still there
