999 999r On The Way!
I'm pleased to say that after a fairly long search I have found and placed a deposit on a suitable 999R which work permitting I will be collecting the 1st week in August, combined with a quick visit to the delights of Hamburg after dark!!!!
I'm very much looking forward to riding it back to back with my S mono nero in order to try and justify to myself (and my gf) the 100% increase in price. Big thanks to Claus Carstens at Ducati Schleswig-Holstein for convincing its previous owner to part with it! -
1098 First Experience Out On The 1098
As the title says. I found some time this weekend to finally get the 1st ride out on the 1098.
It started with a leisurely ride to a mates house across town to show off the stunning redness!
That was a bad mistake as a i soon realised Ducati and town traffic is not best suited.
So by the time i got there i actually thought what have i done why did i think i could go a little more exotic and why did i purchase this machine!
Then i thought OK time to take it home and on doing so took a nice country B road in. Then after 45 minutes! OMG I was in love! I just did not wanna stop and go home. The sheer power and torque and overall handling felt amazing! Once i very slowly started to acclimatise myself and stopped trying to ride the 1098 like i used to ride the GSXr! It just clicks and you feel at home and at ease on the Ducati albeit a little less roomy for someone my size lol!
I have also realised this bike will become a new addiction! Ultimately trying to continue to extract just a... -
Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition: A Tribute To The Legendary Twin-cylinder Engine
Ducati 1299 Panigale R Final Edition: a tribute to the legendary twin-cylinder engine, the most victorious in SBK World Championship history

Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali and the riders of Aruba.it Racing–Ducati team to present the new special Ducati at Laguna Seca

Pebble Beach / Laguna Seca, California (United States), 7 July 2017 – An exceptional, exclusive bike, born out of respect and admiration for the engine that has made Ducati history and written the World Superbike Championship record books. The new 1299 Panigale R Final Edition is more than just a bike with a dedicated colour scheme or a limited edition. With a tricolour livery, as eye-catching as it is evocative, it offers a fitting tribute to Ducati's iconic twin-cylinder power unit, which reaches its peak on... -
Arrivederci Euro 4
My long wait is over, finally the full system Akra is installed....
If you have been contemplating this addition but have had reservations, then worry not. got the bike back today and I have to say it's like riding a different bike altogether.
Sound : HOLY BEJESUS ! For now I have the baffles out and it makes an insane racket, so much so that they might have to go back in, but if you like your bikes loud then good God you will love it. Again this is personal preference but if you like the burble and crack of the over-run it's a pure symphony of sound. Oh and on the down shift with the auto blipper.... well it's ludicrous, the bike just barks at you on every shift, it's actually fun knowing you are coming up to the lights and they are going Red and as opposed to trying to beat the lights you just want to go down the gears then look at every face in the cars around you fearing that they are in the midst of a drive-by shooting.
Performance : Like I said, it's a different bike.... -

Ducati To Attend The Bikers’ Classics At Spa-francorchamps With An All-new Xdiavel Special
Ducati at the Bikers’ Classics event in Belgium with the XDiavel
Presentation of the special created by customizer Fred Krugger on 1 July
Called Thiverval, this special offers a futuristic take on the XDiavel
Borgo Panigale, Bologna (Italy), 29 June 2017 – Following two concept bikes based on the XDiavel (the XDiavel by Roland Sands and the draXter by the Ducati Design Center), Ducati has now placed its cruiser in the creative hands of Belgian customizer Fred Krugger.
The result is Thiverval, a fresh, futuristic power cruiser boasting extreme attention to detail; while retaining its ties with the XDiavel, it also demonstrates its potential in terms of customisation.
Presented in 2016, the Ducati XDiavel is Ducati's take on the cruiser concept: performance and comfort, riding pleasure and relaxed journeying, all combined with a design that has scooped up some of the biggest prizes both in Europe and the USA (Red Dot Design Award 2016 and Good Design Award 2016 respectively),... -

1200 DVT Bashing About The Picos And Long Term Adv Sports Review
Me and three pals had a hoon around the Picos in Northern Spain a couple of weeks ago. It is now, without doubt, my favourite place to ride a bike. I thought nothing could ever top the Alps, but the Picos is so much better. Stunning roads, amazing views, and hardly any traffic. Brilliant. And you don't need to expend 600 miles of tyre wearing miles riding there, just jump on the ferry, win all the quizzes, drink lots of beer and the next day ride 1 hour from Santander into the best roads you'll find.
My 2015 1200 DVT was superb as usual. It is just an epic motorcycle. No issues, just massive v-twin stomp everywhere. Easily the quickest bike for "normal" use out of the 4 we had with us (1200GS WC, S1000XR and KTM 950SM). Comfy, fast, superb handling, takes lots of luggage. Overall, just brilliant. I wouldn't want anything else.
As it happens, we created a video which I think you'll enjoy if you have any interest in what the Picos are like, and what the bikes are like after 1-2... -

Exclusive Pics: New V4 Panigale Successor!! In-moto Magazine
IN-MOTO magazine, published today in Italy, have released some spy shots of the new V4 Panigale replacement, set for it's unveiling launch at EICMA in November 2017. I managed to obtain an electronic copy from a relative this evening. The photos were taken recently at Mugello where Ducati were undergoing some preliminary testing of the new V4 engine. The bodywork is clearly that of the Panigale 1299, albeit crudely modified for the powerplant, so this is doubtless a test mule, and is loaded with datalogging equipment. Further testing (where the bike will be more representative of the finished model, will probably take place at Nardo, as it's less susceptible to journalists with long lenses. I have endeavoured to translate the accompanying article into reasonable English (not Google Translate), which is shown below the pictures. For now here are the images.
Most noticeable is the side mounted shock has been relocated, yet it still retains a SSA and the exhaust has two outlets per... -
Ducati Roadside Assistance - What A Joke!! But A Big Thank You, To Millsport Ducati, Ballymoney.
About 3 months after buying my Monster 821 Stripe I received a very nice letter from Ducati Italy, welcoming me to a very exclusive motorcycling family and attached to the letter was my personal Ducati Road Side Assistance card bearing my bike details and personal Ducati Code, great I thought, no need for extra roadside assistance cover with the AA or RAC, etc.
Well yesterday while out on a really enjoyable ride along the Antrim Coast route I unfortunately picked a 6" nail in my rear tyre, the tyre deflated instantly but I managed to stop quickly and safely. I pulled out my Ducati card and dialled the number, 00800 33 22 88 77, as shown, but nothing, just a dead tone, so I tried 0800 33 22 88 77, it started ringing, great I thought until the automated service started. So I pressed the relevant buttons and finally a real person answered, "Chevron Assistance, can I have your registration number?"
I'll make this bit very short, they didn't recognise my registration, nor my personal... -

Wheels and Waves can be experienced live on Radio Ducati Scrambler
Borgo Panigale, Bologna, 14 June 2017 – Ducati Scrambler and its Land of Joy have landed at Wheels and Waves for a world-first presentation of two new entries. This renowned French event, being held from 14 to 18 June in Biarritz, was selected as the perfect platform on which to unveil the new Ducati Scrambler Mach 2.0 and the latest Full Throttle graphics.
Sleek, with low-slung tapered aluminium handlebars, the Mach 2.0 also features a dedicated Flat Track Pro seat, black exhaust and cylinder head covers, plus Café Racer-style brushed cooling fins.
Its fresh graphics, created by renowned Californian designer Roland Sands, take their cue from the Bell Cross Idol helmet (Ducati Scrambler 2017 apparel collection) and feature colours that evoke the typical West Coast style of the ’70s.

Desmosedici Detailing
My Desmo has the GP7 exhaust fitted, the kit comes with a modified belly pan and tail unit for the exhausts that exit the belly pan and out of the rear of the bike.
I've always thought the tail unit looks unfinished, with a plain white numberbaord on it. The one on the standard Desmosedici Rosso version and the tail unit of my 1098R are pin striped and look better to my eye. I've fancied doing something with it for a while, but have just got around to it.
So, a guy I used to work with, left a few years back and set up his own body repair / paintshop. I asked him to put a plain black pinstripe around the number board and add the "Desmosedici RR" decals from the Rosso version of the Desmo. These by the way cost £14 each from the dealer.I got some discount on this, but they should have a bloody mask on, asking that price!
He's come up trumps and I'm pleased with the end result. Pinstriped, decals added and a couple of coats of 2K clearcoat.
