996 Geoff At Baines Racing A ++++++.
I would just like to say a big thank you for all the people on here that recommended
Geoff at Baines Racing at Silverstone.
My 996sps has done 7,000 miles and needed a cam belt change and first Tappets/cam check.
Ducati main Dealer had said that it could be as much as £900 depending on what they find.
I phoned Geoff, His enthusiasm was amazing, we had a long talk.
He said if I wanted I could save money and and remove the fairings before hand.
When I dropped my bike off I was amazed how many bikes he had in for work in Jan!
One of the Old "Top Gear" chaps had just had one of his bike's dropped off for Geoff to work on.
On my bike he checked all tappet gap's than removed the cam's as it is the only way to check the pad's on the followers and found one worn through the Chrome.
He replaced that with a Nemans re-ferb follower. All gaps were then reset in tolerance.
The Ducati Cam belts cost £118 (inc vat)
The new Shims £60 and rocker gaskets £10
He also did a few other bits and... -
1199 I've Only Gone And Bought An 1199r...
So having done my 'man maths' I worked out that by trading my 899 in to Moto Rapido and buying a 1199R was a financially sound investment. So yes, although the deal was only done today and I won't be picking it up until the 4th of Feb, I'm going to be the proud owner of this...
I was on the brink of buying a 1299S, but there's just something about the 1199R that I couldn't resist. I know the 1299S is arguably the better all-round road bike, but I just want the R - albeit the early, not-so-good version.
To say I'm excited is a slight understatement. Roll on the 4th... -
1200 New Multi Gt Owner
Hello all,
Picked up my new Multistrada 1200 S Granturismo today from Snell's.
Very pleased with it and the service provided by Snell's. Looking forward to some warmer and dryer weather now.
Considering some carbon additions and a slip-on exhaust, but no urgency. -

Got Myself An R6 Track Bike
Got myself this tasty R6 for racing and general hooligan stuff this season. I figured it would be more practical for a first race season and keep the 1199R for trackdays for now. It was built for Hutchy for the TT but not used due to him breaking his leg. Its super sport spec with all the shiny stuff and looked after by the same guy since it was bought from the first owner. He's just done it's seasonal engine refresh and it's going on the dyno today. We're out to Calafat in mid february with Pacedayz so I'll probably get my first run out on it out there. -

1299 New 1299 Owner
Hello all,
Just pulled the trigger on a new 1299 which i'm probably collecting next week. Sad to see the 899 go, really sad in fact. However it's going to a great home.
So yeah, I've decided to scare the shit out of myself with a nuclear reactor for a motor that is the 1299.. A bike that after I test rode it I never thought I'd buy.
Question, i've seen the bike out of the crate, it has a seat cowl on it.. I assume this is standard on the 1299's? -
John Berger Dies
You may have seen that the writer, painter and art critic John Berger has just died at the age of 90 and you probably thought, so what? I expect most people on here have never heard of him.
But there is one thing that I bet they don’t mention in the media and that John was a madly passionate motorcyclist. He was a friend of mine and I went motorcycling with him, so I know. Put it this way: how many people do you know who get a Honda Super Blackbird 1100, then the world’s fastest motorbike, for their 70th birthday? And it’s not as if he was moving up from a C90. The Super Blackbird replaced a CBR 1000.
To be honest, John didn’t need such massive power as he didn’t go everywhere at Warp 7, but he did use the bike whenever possible and almost never used his old 2CV car which was full of straw in the boot. And he probably used it to go from his house in Haute Savoie to Paris, which is quite a big old ride so a large and comfy sports tourer would do the job.

My Best Christmas Present Ever!
Last year, not this.
I live in Shipbourne , about 4 miles north of Tonbridge in Kent and for the past 4 years every year between March and October when the sun is shining we get a Spitfire over flying our house. Quite a lot of light aircraft over fly but you can tell the Spitfire by the growl of the Merlin engine, I always stop and stare whenever I hear it. Biggin Hill is about 15 miles away and the Spitfire operates from there.
My wife, bless her, bought me a flight in a 2 seat Spitfire for last year's Christmas present. Here is an account of 30 August 2016.
The whole family got there at 12.00 and had to wait around quite a bit as the flight in the morning had a problem and they had to enliven the reserve 2 seat Spitfire, which was not fuelled up and the tanker driver was the other side of the airfield fuelling jets. HS162 and Lear and Bombardier private jets operate from Biggin Hill (one of which belongs to Lewis Hamilton).
Then we had a rather boring safety briefing which... -
1098 Look What I Found!! 1098s Content
So today was a good day, I stumbled across an absolute Beauty of a machine. A 1098s with Baylis livery.
She's a standard bike one owner from new and with full Ducati service history. Just ticked over 6000miles and the previous owner was a gent and extremely honest. Nothing to hide and was great to deal with start to finish.
Wish all my purchases were as easy and smooth as this.
So drove the bike home 80miles tonight freezing and having to stop to warm my fingers up it was that cold. Not ideal for the time of year to be driving a bike but hay ho if there's a deal to be had you have to make exceptions!
I've only got the picture from tonight so here it is.
So happy -

New 749s Owner From Surrey :)
Well. I only went and did it.
Thanks to Bluey on here I'm the new owner of his 749s and he's the new owner of my cbr600rr.
Chuffed with it so far, albeit with more 'quirks' than the Honda. Not always in a bad way. But, I find myself wanting to ride it constantly. It's by no means boring. It runs lovely thanks to all the work Dan put into it, and the torque and noise is just addictive compared to the old i4 rr.
Was slightly nervous of the notorious Ducati reliability, but I'm glad I took the plunge. I'm just going to enjoy It and just deal with any issues as they come, rather than riding about worrying!
Anyway, thanks to all on this forum who have been a good source of research when hunting for a 749s, look forward to being more a part of it all now I've actually signed up.
Cheers all! -

I Was Lucky Enough To Be At Mallory Park In 1978
I used to be a sports photographer, I was a regular at Mallory Park in the 70's. I was there for the Race of The Year in 1978 and took a number of pictures of Hailwood (my hero), Sheene and Phil Read.
The attached is one of those pictures. -
