I Was Lucky Enough To Be At Mallory Park In 1978
I used to be a sports photographer, I was a regular at Mallory Park in the 70's. I was there for the Race of The Year in 1978 and took a number of pictures of Hailwood (my hero), Sheene and Phil Read.
The attached is one of those pictures. -

After presenting the line-up of its new motorcycles and the 2017 apparel collection at EICMA 2016, Ducati has yet more surprises in store.
The Ducatisumisura.com site, which allows visitors to personalise racing suits using the configurator, now adds two new and attractive models to its range, in the form of the Ducati Corse C3 one- and two-piece leathers, exclusive garments produced in collaboration with Dainese and designed by Aldo Drudi.

1098s Coffee Table
So after the pleasure in crafting a coffee table from an old 749 engine last year, i had a request to do the same from a 1098 engine, but with a trellis type stand. So here it is......Again, every single detail is crafted by hand, totalling just shy of 1000 hours worth of labour and 'thinking time'. Not to mention the many layers of skin removed from my finger tips!
So what do people think?? -
1098 1098r - Proper Excited!!!
Well I guess the title says it all....... I've never been as excited about a bike as this... it arrived Monday... she's been in my garage since being dropped off and I've not even sneaked a peek due to work commitments an also having no power in the garage!
Seeing as Its not registered I can't even ride it but did manage to have a pootle down the road for its MOT today.. (which it failed..more on that in a sec)... what a machine! this is what I missed (Love the Pani, but I find it very un Ducati like in it's behaviour compared to how I remembered my old Duc's...) .. and this is my first "R" so am like a kid in a sweetshop...so please excuse the gushiness!!
MOT failed on Termis being stamped not for road use (doh!!, hadn't seen that so will slap on the other ones that it came with and also the font indicators don't work!.. looks like the left one is unplugged but has the connector part missing... (I know probably should have checked all this before!!).. how do I fix that??... -

Back Again, 1098s, Happy Days.
Some of the old timers may recall i did a demo day a long time ago in 2008. It was a KTM Rc8 in the morning and a Ducati 1098S in the afternoon.
I was stunned at the time just how good the 1098S was and how it went, handled, stopped and felt.... Just bloody brilliant.
Circumstances never worked out and the planets never really aligned.... until today.
Today i've just been and paid for this beast of a machine after Mrs Weeksy gave it a test ride.
It's just lovely... lovely in so many ways i can't even count...
As for what happens with me and not riding bikes, well i think we can safely say i will ride this, i simply cannot resist a ride on a 1098S, especially one i own !
The only thing Mrs Weeksy didn't like was the gearing, too lumpy, so we'll chuck a slightly smaller front sprocket on there to sort that...
The Termis are LOUD... proper proper Ducati loud ..
I've owned and liked loads of bikes over the years, i've been through squillions as you're aware... but i've never... -

Pricing of new models unveiled at EICMA remain unchanged
Following the announcement of prices for the new 2017 models unveiled recently at EICMA, Ducati UK can confirm a price increase on the remainder of the Ducati and Ducati Scrambler ranges.
From January 1st 2017, prices of current models will rise by an average of 4.8% in response to the significant currency fluctuation over the last 6-12 months. In spite of a recent small recovery the disparity between currencies is still significantly different from the rates which were previously achieved between UK and Euro pricing. -

My Take On 996/1098 Mongrel Build!
Hi guys, thought i'd post up some details and insight into my winter project.
But first a little bit of the bikes history. I Bought the 996 new back in 1998 when Ducati first announced the 916 was being updated with the introduction of the 996cc lump. Since then i have used it in all weather conditions all year round and done many many track miles split between the uk Belgium and Germany. Many years ago i put sps cams in and it has been faultless over the 18 years of ownership. Obviously she has had minor updates and refreshes along the way.
Now, back in september i was doing one of many trackdays at Spa Francorchamp.
Towards the end of the day i was running quick into Eau Rouge when all of a sudden there was a significant change in engine note and an ammount of vibration. So clutch in and get the bike to a marshall post. Recovered to the paddock and i was resighned to having to open the engine up over the winter to investigate, hasten to add that within 2 days i had the... -

D16 - First Ride
Fortunately the weather was okay today and I managed to avoid meetings so could pop back home for a couple of hours at lunch to take the bike out for the first time.
Sat upon the bike in my drive I was pretty nervous. Expensive bike with a reputation for not suffering fools. What if I couldn't ride it properly? What if it was a disappointment or I didn't like it?
Within a short distance of pulling away it felt different to anything I have ridden before. Front on the bike feels very agile and slightly unstable. Turning it feels a bit odd.
It is stiff. Even with the supposedly softer springs it is pretty unforgiving. I took it down a local lane that is really bumpy. Had me almost out the saddle a couple of times. Not much worse than my 899 though.
I thought after 5 minutes that comfort was going to be a problem but actually after 90 mins I was still fine.
The noise is not like anything I have experienced. Very mechanical. Very noisy. Actually quite rough. Nothing like the... -
