Now I Know... Wow
Not quite sure what to call this post? converted, yes pun intended, finally or just WOW!!!
Thought I'd post this while my adrenal glands get a rest.
First time this bike has been out since I rode it home in the wet when I bought it blind.
Having carried out a few upgrades, I'm not sure if it's closer to resembling a 998 final edition now or a 996R. Wiki suggests this "s" motor is similar to that in a 996R . My forks are now the same and the "S" has the Ohlins rear shock and steering damper. This engine is making more power than a "998R" looking at dyno readings and after today I can believe it too...
Either way, love it or hate it, it's how I want it and it's every bit the poster bike I remember the Ducati to be.
It's not just for show either, that rumble, changes to a spitfire engine note then to a responsive angry deep buzzz. That noise is addictive.
The grunt makes my Honda Fireblade feel lame and that's supposed to be something like 150 to 170hp if you trust the stats... -
Ducati Uk Announce Ducati Performance Trioptions Cup And 959 Panigale For 2017
Series renamed Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup
2017 to be 8th consecutive year of championship
959 Panigale to replace 899 Panigale for 2017
Ducati UK announced at a meeting with riders today at Thruxton circuit that it would continue to support the Ducati TriOptions Cup for an eighth consecutive year.
Tim Maccabee Managing Director of Ducati UK told the teams and riders present there would be a change of machinery for 2017 from the 899 Panigale currently being used to the new 959 Panigale. The format is expected to remain the same with eight rounds and sixteen races predominately supporting the MCE British Superbike Championship but with a likely change of name to the Ducati Performance TriOptions Cup.
Stuart Higgs BSB series and race director also addressed the teams and riders thanking them for being part of a hugely successful one-make championship and welcomed riders to pass on any feedback to improve the series for both rider and fans.

749 No More Garage Queen…
Having had my 749R SORN'd for the last 18 months for work and health reasons, I finally got its vicious misfire and cylinder head oil leak sorted (turned out to be the same problem) and decided that an MoT was now in order. After two false starts, one after finding that my usual, 57mm Termi-friendly testing station had shut down and the other when I decided that SC1s and a torrential thunderstorm were probably not a happy combo, I booked it into a new MoT station, just the hundred miles or so away. So fitted the MoTable not-taking-the-piss number plate and headed off to Perth in warm sunshine over some decidedly Ducati-friendly roads. Route was a fine balance of fun x being potentially able to argue to the constabulary that I was going 'directly' to and from the test centre. Only mildly dodgy moment was, having pulled over to check directions, I realised that I was sitting directly outside Perth nick, idling with that 57mm Termi and sans either MoT or Tax. All done and sailed... -
What Glorious Machine!
Well after years of wanting an SS ever since I was a 17 year old admiring an SL in a shop on London road derby (27 years!) but always buying Jap 4's, 2 strokes etc I finally got one, more out of curiosity than anything else, I expected to be disappointed after hearing all the stories about vibration etc, but the opposite is the case, I absolutely love it, it's got character , beauty, is light, handles beautifully, I could go on but suffice to say, I get it, I really get it!, why did none of you tell me about this before? , PS I'm already thinking how good are modern Ducatis, this could end up costing me thousands! -

1200 DVT Video Review: Dvt V Ktm Gt V Xr V Gs
Hi all. Here's the video I mentioned a couple of weeks back filmed up in north west Scotland. It's got my DVT standard model compared to a KTM 1290 GT, BMW R1200GS TE WC and a BMW S1000XR. We all had a go on every bike and nattered about them afterwards.
Al these bikes are amazing. If someone were to offer us one of them 5 years ago we'd have thought we were in motorcycling nirvana.
Hope you enjoy it.

1200 DVT Positivity For A Change
There seems to have been a lot of negativity on the forum lately, and I'm not moaning about the moaners as they are free and right to express their disquiet. However just to add some balance I'd like to say that I have just done a 1400 mile tour to Calais euro tunnel, Belgium, France, Luxembourg, Germany with my better half on the back. I have the standard dvt tour option bike with urban pack as well. Bike was fantastic everywhere 2 up fully loaded , we had bags of space. The better half was falling asleep on the back as she felt so comfy and confident even though three figure speeds on the autobahn of course were often achieved with ease. Great time on my great dvt. -

1200 DVT 2000+ Mile Tour. Multi, Xr, Gs, Gt
Just back from a 2000+ mile tour up to and around the northwest coast of Scotland. In a word it was brilliant. 4 bikes, my 2015 standard DVT (+Termi +42T rear sprocket), a BMW XR, KTM 1290GT and BMW GS. An excellent opportunity to ride all 4 bikes back to back, and take in some quality hoonage.

All 4 bikes were phenomenal. I'm editing hours of video footage into compare & contrast film, but to summarise my thoughts:
Ducati - absolutely superb. Smooth and relaxed on the motorways, agile and madly fast on the twisties. After riding the others I hardened up my suspension which I realised was a bit wallowy, with excellent results. Just the perfect bike - no problems whatsoever despite torrential rain, cold etc.
KTM - crazy and brilliant engine. Felt faster than the Ducati, but very firm with a hard... -

Only ridden 50 or so miles but already can't wait for the running in period to be over, it feels strangled right now. Bed in those rings, loosen the engine and exhaust. Can't wait! -
