Just Bought This.
Long story really but I sold the 1098 in order to fund a new car (6.3 AMG C63) because although I loved it to bits I'd ridden it twice (both times to Oxford to avoid the traffic hell) since the new year and though I'd manage without a superduperfastasfuck road bike as I've still got the 450 KTM enduro and my 79 RD250. Anyway got a price on the Duke last Thursday and on Saturday bought this. Lots to be done with it, like getting rid of the rear mud guard and fitting a tail tidy. Fitting louder cans and the Triumph nose cone with lower clip ons.
Its obviously a little more pedestrian than the Duke but its certainly no slouch off the line, topping out at an indicated 130. ABS TC and three different maps, good amount of info from the dash but probably the best bit is the comfort which is good.
This was the demonstrator which came in £700 cheaper than a new one with 700 miles on it. Reason I went for the demo is that the waiting list for the R is up to September at the moment.... -

Ever The Optimist Part 4
Well,I have done it again. In a moment of complete madness a few weeks ago I bought another totally inappropriate bike.Well to be totally honest it wasn't all my fault,Mrs Mervyn saw a photo of it and said that I really should have it
.
It was bought from a really nice guy on this Forum-he was good enough to deliver it to me,by van, personally.
Today was the day for my first ride.the planets were aligned correctly, the weather was fine, and all the omens were good.Off I went.I was not to be disappointed, the riding position was pretty good for my old bones and I felt part of the bike after only a few minutes riding.Lots to like about the bike both visually and sensory.lovely big rev counter right in sight, smooth gear change, and an exhaust note to die for.The bike rides beautifully and is very confidence inspiring-doesn't take much to get up to naughty speed numbers:Angelic: The brakes are phenomenal. What was very impressive was the acceleration in the higher gears,very...

1200 DVT Starship Enterprise Vs Tiefighters At Oulton Park
Well that’s what it felt like!
After my Donington experience last week (one I have yet to be ready to talk about) I was very nervous about taking my Multi to Oulton Park for 2 days in the fast group with a bunch of servicemen who have little to worry about… And Mr Ali T and the Donkey Cranker had offered me a few sessions on theirs if I needed it.
So with pragmatism and a touch of doubt, I packed up the Multi and headed to Oulton to see how many sessions I could blag on someone else’s kit. OMCC were helpful as normal, and I swapped to inters where I felt my pace and obstructive lines would be of less trouble.
The one major concern was tyres. After last week proving Scorpions aren’t the best (no, I’m not talking about it!) I took my new set of supercorsa that I bought for the triumph,. Knowing push to shove I could put that rubber on. But the intention was to give them to Ali to put on his triumph if we shared his bike.
Morning session, I was mega nervous in all corners and... -
Oulton Park - Panigale 1199s No Electronics?!
So despite running everything in the low race settings; I know from the data analyser that my traction control does come into play on most tracks and I've always wondered how much of a difference it makes. Plus on the Panigale ( and S1000RR ) you get all the usual clueless comments about 'relying' on electronics even though you'd need to be a right hero to push against the TC coming out of a corner in my opinion. Turns out the bike does just fine without any of it on track. I damaged my front speed sensor earlier in the week as the wire came unclipped and rubbed through on the wheel and it turned off everything, Traction Control, ABS, Engine Braking as the bike doesn't know when there's a speed differential between the wheels. Just to add to the work my quick shifter was also not working, I tried to sort it out but I think it need removing and cleaning as the rose joints get bunged up with crud sometimes.
A bunch more interesting vids with plenty of other bikes to come but here's a... -

Casey Stoner: “the Multistrada 1200 Enduro Rides Like A Dream!”
Casey Stoner, just back from the race at Mugello, stopped by in Bologna to try out Ducati’s new maxi-enduro. The photos and video of his thrill-packed route over the hills surrounding Bologna show how the mix of asphalt and off-road terrain allowed the Australian to get a feel for the bike's outstanding qualities.
“I love it”, were the first words uttered by Casey Stoner as he stepped off the new Multistrada 1200 Enduro. "We know how Ducati is on-road, but honestly in off-road I can’t explain how good the Multistrada 1200 Enduro works. The riding position is almost better than an off-road bike and you don’t get tired because it’s so stable, also on really gravely and rocky terrain. The weight keeps the bike stable as on all of the big bikes, but on the Multistrada 1200 Enduro it feels like it’s a toy all the time. You want to change your line, and it changes line. The Multistrada 1200 Enduro looks big but when you ride it you don’t feel it. It’s really something special, it has... -
What On Earth Was I Thinking???
For some time now I've been wondering whether I should chop in my 899 Pani for something different like the Diavel or Monster 1200R. The reason for that was twofold:
1. Was I getting the most out of it with day to day road riding?
2. Should I get something with a lower seat (given that I nearly had a mishap a few weeks ago in Hawes when I was trying to park up on a slight camber)?
Anyway on Saturday I went to Ducati Manchester with @bettes for a look/see and to have a chat. After a quick chat I was taking away a Diavel for the weekend to see if I could live with it.
So me and @bettes headed off first to my house to see how it would fair going up/down the steep/"U turn" banking on the approach to my house and then for a general blast across to Squires at Sherburn.
I had ridden the Diavel a couple of years ago but at the time I wasn't convinced it was the bike for me, and since then maybe things had changed. Maybe.
However in short........Good points and in no particular order... -

Guiver and Morris take a win each at Donington Park in round three of the
Ducati TriOptions Cup
Guiver extends championship lead with a 4th and 1st
Morris returns to form with first win of the season and 2nd place
Debut podium for Ducati Wolverhampton rider Louis Dawson
Rob Guiver extended his championship lead at round three of the Ducati TriOptions Cup at Donington Park with a hard fought race two win and a fourth in race one.
The Ducati TriOptions Cup was again supporting the UK round the World Superbike Championship entertaining the sun-baked crowds with closer racing from one of the biggest grids on the weekend’s schedule.
Race 1
Leon Morris began the race weekend in dominant form, starting from pole and leading from start to finish in race one. The Carl Cox Motorsport/P&H Motorcycles rider made the most of the battle ensuing behind him as Phil Atkinson (Highsparks Motorsport) and Sean Neary (Zoek Racing Team) had a pulsating duel behind him.
By lap six Morris had... -
Today Is The Day....
Today, 29th May 2016 at about 7:45pm somewhere in Yorkshire I got my knee down, without falling off and now I am a racing god, all hail me.My 1299S is now forever and indelibly imprinted in my mind.
I did it four times to prove it wasn't a fluke. -
Ever The Optimist Part 3.
Since my starting on new medication in February I have had a very much roller coaster of a ride.
Today I had a ride of a different sort and went out for an adventure on my HP2.
I didn't know what to expect of this strange bike, but within 5 mins I was just so pleased.Difficult to put into mere words, but the bike rode just as well,if not better, than it looks.
I was a bit apprehensive that the bike might be too much for me,not a bit of it.I took it carefully for the first few miles, waiting for those traffic lights to go out on the dashboard, then opened it up,just a little mind you.Ooh,this is nice, lets try the shift assist,ha ha.
I very much enjoyed my first ride on the bike, quite comfortable as well, and not too noisy.A nice bit of pop and bang on the overrun, very much grin making.
All to soon my adventure was over, but I will patiently wait for the next outing. -
