Old 996 Owner
Hi, I have recently bought a 996 trackbike and it's ME that's old....not the bike!!!
It has been owned by 2 of my mates over the last 3 years or so and came back up for grabs again about a week ago. As I had asked for '1st Dibs' on any future sale I got the call and rushed around to raise the money (I had to sell my X11 to help). Me and my son(s) will be doing occasional trackdays on it, Stewart has already booked Oulton Park on tuesday 23rd June and although its a quick bike I'm afraid he (and I when I get chance) will be taking it steady in the novice class. Stewart has only ever done 2 x trackdays about 2 years apart, once at Mallory on a TRX850 and this easter on my X11 at Anglesey. As a widower I have taken the liberty to give it pride of place in my living room as its such a good looker. I am currently waiting for a front paddock stand to arrive and some tyre warmers and need to sort out a nearby socket for the 'optimate' charger. -
Dovizioso: “ I Believe That We Can Be Competitive”
Andrea Dovizioso feels that he can challenge for the win at Mugello after his teams recent test at the Tuscany track.
In France Dovizioso scored another podium, his fourth in the first five races of the season, and he currently sits third in the Championship 19 points behind the leader Valentino Rossi. After the team recent two day private test at the Mugello circuit, the Italian is confident he can fight at the front during his home GP.
Andrea Dovizioso:
“I believe that we can be competitive at Mugello because we have tested at this track recently and we were quick. In addition the team is very motivated: we are at Mugello and this is Ducati’s home race, so we all have that extra incentive to do well. At the last race however we were missing a little ‘something’ and so we are going to have to continue to work hard throughout this weekend.”

Dominant Brown Takes Hat-trick Of Wins In The Ducati Trioptions Cup At Donington Park
Robbie Brown takes hat-trick of victories at Donington Park and leads championship after remarkable performance
Hobbs loses championship lead with two DNF’s and a 7th place
Nutt moves into second place in the championship
James Egan rides from 19th to 9th in Superstock 1000
Robbie Brown took his first victory at Donington Park since clinching the Ducati 848 Challenge at the same venue back in 2012 following it up with a further two wins over the weekend. The former champion rode faultlessly all weekend to put himself in the mix as a title contender.
For championship leader and title holder Dennis Hobbs it was a disastrous weekend with two DNF’s in the first two races and a 7th in the final race of the day. The race 1 crash had a knock on effect with a technical fault only allowing Hobbs to complete a few laps in race 2 before having to pull in to the pit lane.
Leon Morris finished the weekend third in the championship with a 2nd, 3rd and 4th to move him ahead of team mate... -

Urgent Request From Ducati U.k. - Can You Help??
Right chaps,
I've just received an email from Ducati UK asking whether any forum members can help out. Here is their email:
================================================================
We need your help as we need a Ducati, OK not just any old Ducati but something special, along the lines of the attached, or something equally special....and I’m hoping the clubs can help find one?????
A new licensee for Ducati needs something like this for a photo shoot in London on 28 May (yes I know ...not much time, but I’m sure you guys know where the best Ducati's are in the UK)
Do your members have anything they’d like to see in an advertising campaign?
We realise this is likely to be a very special collectors piece and we would ensure it was collected and returned by a specialist bike transporter, perhaps even someone you may know.....the day before the shoot or sooner if possible...
It would be looked after on the day and returned (along with a very nice gift from the licensee)... -
Look What I've Just Purchased
I couldn't resist! I've had a few SS's in the past and always lusted after a yellow SL. Meanwhile the 900 Monster is at Rosse Corse getting the cafe racer treatment so this is my daily commute! Where can I buy one fairing and two seat bolts and bronze cup washers? -
Le Mans: Dovizioso Back On The Podium
After a blip at Jerez, Andrea Dovizioso returned Ducati to the MotoGP podium with third place in Sunday's French MotoGP.
The Italian lost second place to countryman Valentino Rossi on lap 13 of 28, later backing off to ensure his fourth rostrum from five starts.
“We have to be happy because we are back on the podium, we already make four podiums in five races, so this is really good. We don't have to forget that, but it was another confirmation that we miss a little bit to fight for the victory,” Dovizioso said.
“We have the speed, also at the beginning when Lorenzo made a really incredible lap time. But maybe we still use too much grip to go fast and after a few laps I can't keep the same lap time.
“But we are very close. Today we finish 12 seconds behind, but only because I slowed down at the end. There was no reason to take risk. But I believe we are very close to the Yamaha so we have to keep fighting.”
Pressed further on what exactly the Desmosedici GP15 needs, Dovizioso... -

1200 DVT 2015 Dvt Multi Owner - First Impressions
Picked up my new bike this weekend and found time for a 200k ride. Previously owned a 2010 and 2013 model.
First impressions. The finish the best yet, no fasteners on panels and cable runs all tucked away nicely giving a high quality look to the bike. The switch gear all worked really well and easy to use. I will shorten the high beam toggle as the gloves caught it going for the clutch on several occasions, flashing oncoming traffic. The heated grips now have their own switch, hazard lights present, cruise control brilliant, and the colour screen really clear and easy to set all the parameters. A stunning looking bike.
It is by far the best handling multi I have owned. I have always felt the earlier models didn’t tip into corners without a fair amount of counter steer effort. The new bike is beautifully balance, tips into corners with a minimum of fuss and tracks flawlessly around them, it is such an easy bike to ride and will be a fantastic touring bike it is so effortless.... -

Sam1199's Story - "just Popping Out On My Bike" - Something We'd All Love To Do!
GETTING READY FOR THE OFF
Four weeks after a surgeon had taken his knife out of my nuts and another surgeon had cut out two skin cancers from my face, I thought, what better thing to do than head to the sun on a sports bike.
Let's go to the Spanish MotoGP in Jerez. Nice ride.
Besides the operations weren't a problem, the anesthetics did their job, it was the stitches that really gave me grief. Ooh sir! Especially when it got cold.
So I took off with two tiny panniers and a Ducati Panigale S Tricolore. Who needs these BMW GS's to do these kind of trips, much more fun with a Pornygirly.
The ride down the A3 to Portsmouth was so busy it was enough to make me glad I was leaving the country. Several cars had impaled themselves in the Armco on the northbound carriageway and the southbound was bumper-to-bumper for almost all of it. It was awful. Shouldn't these people still be in work on Friday afternoon? Does the whole of England head to the south coast for the weekend?
It felt like... -

1200 D-air - First Hand Report
Following an altercation between my bike and a deer last night on a slip road (M49) of the M5 I can confirm that the airbag system on the multistrada works brilliantly.
I hit the deck at around sixty mph and other than some superficial bruising I'm here to tell the tale. The bikes pretty badly damaged (4 weeks old) and the deer had to be put down by the police firearms unit
The airbags worked exactly as expected and I'm sure saved me from a much worse outcome. Ima little black and blue this morning, but thankfully nothing broken. the bike is fixable.

Ducati Trioptions Cup Provides Spectacular Showdown At Oulton Park
The hugely impressive grid of 34 Ducati 899 Panigales was one of the stars of the bank holiday British Superbike Championship this weekend (2-4 May) at Oulton Park in Cheshire. Sunday’s TriOptions Cup showdown produced a thrilling finale, with 2011 champion Leon Morris securing his first victory of 2015.
Behind the fast-starting Carl Cox Motorsport/P&H rider there was an incredible story developing with a number of series front-runners racing through from the back of the field. Having crashed on his out lap in qualifying, reigning TriOptions Cup champion Dennis Hobbs charged off the line on his Carl Cox Motorsport/P&H 899 from 34th slot to be 11th after just one lap of the picturesque circuit. By lap three Hobbs was up to eighth and behind Rob Guiver on the Hyside Motorcycles machine who was soon to become the talking point of the ten-lap showdown.
At mid-distance Guiver began a series of circulations that repeatedly smashed the Ducati TriOptions lap record and hauled the #13... -
899 Meet Penny - My New Lover.
It's official - I am in love... again.
What a bike. Had it a week and a half or so (lost track of time) and done about 600 miles.
I cannot get over it. The sounds, the feeling, the experience. It is almost overwhelming. I am an emotional bastard at the best of times. I still coo over it. I don't think i will EVER take its beauty and specialness for granted.
The feeling is indescribable. When I ride it I just feel so damn good. I feel very fortunate and grateful that I even own it. My ego gets a boost and people turn and stare at it.
I enjoy waashing it so much. as if I was giving a bed bath to Amanda Holden...
What has surpsied me is that i seem to learn to love it more as every day passes. Does anyone ever get bored with this bike? OK, well, sometimes I just wish it had a touch more power, and other times I scare myself silly on a bend that I underestimated. That's the rub. i guess that is what makes it truly exciting.
I am soooooo glad I bought it. i think I would have... -
