I bought my 916 last October after wanting one for many years. Quite a bit of money had been spent on servicing and paintwork over the last 2 years and it was mechanically sound. Charlie's Motorcycles in Bradford got the belts done at Ducati Manchester and did a brake fluid change before it was delivered. I managed one 30 mile ride out before the weather turned to crap. So with only an oil change and coolant top up required I decided to strip her down and take a closer look.
Generally all was good, but some areas had seen better days. She was a bit grubby in places and many bolts/brackets were rusty. There was quite a few original parts missing and a few daft annoying things like mismatched bar ends, a 998 heat shield held on with jubilee clips, old partly polished rearsets and tacky aftermarket bolts etc etc etc.
My original plan was to restore back to standard but during the work I decided to make some tasteful mods. It's nearly finished now after many hours of graft.
