A Ride Is Good For You
An interesting thing happened yesterday.
Went for a lovely ride out on the bike with the wife.
Went from here through Oxford, up to Woodstock then a coffee in Stratford, lovely.
Off around the Cotswolds then back to Binsey, North Oxford for an early supper in the Perch, top grub, highly recommended, then home, all good.
My wife wears an Oura ring that collects all sorts of data about her, pulse, sleep patterns, heart rate variabilty and activity levels, it stores the data which can be shown on an app later.
The remarkable stat from our ride is that as a passenger, the activity readings were as if she had walked 12 miles with medium activity levels.
I have to assume the reading would be much higher for the rider, no wonder a days riding can be tiring. -

916 25 Year Jubilee!
Unbelievably I've owned this for 25 years! For one reason or another I haven't ridden it since 2012 when I bought a Multistrada (now sold). Last summer I replaced the floor in my workshop and put it out on the patio, my best mate called round and said "keeping that covered up in your workshop and not riding it is like keeping a supermodel in your bedroom and never sha66ing her!"
So to celebrate getting my first pension payment tomorrow I got it MOT'd yesterday.
Lovely to get out on it again - apart from my left wrist.............
Let's see how we get on this summer. -
996 My New 996
Sometimes when these opportunities come along, you’ve just got to go for it! A 1999 996 which has had pretty much a nut and bolt resto a couple of years ago by a fellow forum member. It hasn’t really been used for the last 2 years but the previous owner added a new OEM tank and repainted the mono seat. I’ve had it in with Steve Jordan in Surrey for a mini recommission which included new belts, exact start cables, new starter motor, new reg rec and the oils and filters and coolant. It runs a treat! -
12 Year Renovation
Ta da - another one back on the road.
Aquired April 2011 with broken cylinder head studs.
Between work, affordability, kids, wife, self belief, and a bit of lazyness, she is finally done.
First I would like to thank everyone who helped me during this renovation over the years, I did appreciate all input, and could not have done it without the great people on this site, many thanks to all, you know who you are.
Feeling a bit strange now it's done, but have a few little projects to do over the coming - I was going to say months, but it will probably be years, single seat namely.
I hope I can return any knowledge I have picked up over the years and be of help to others, and hopefull still continue to post on the site, as I have enjoyed your company over the years.
Will post a few more pics as soon as that sun shines.
Cheers Gaz -

1260 Ride To Death Valley From Sf Bay Area This Coming Week
ciao a tutti,
a group of 6 riders (two of us on Multistradas) will be riding from the SF Bay Area south east to Death Valley, meeting up with a few more Multistradas riding in from Santa Barbara/Ojia area in Bakersfield, CA, and then continuing on to Beatty, NV to meet up with a few riders from Southern California.
will spend a few days riding in and around Death Valley (my first time there).
will post up a few picts when i return.
here is the potential route from Bay Area to Death Valley green for day 1 (303 miles), magenta for day 2 (240 miles).
normally, we would bang out the entire 543 miles in a day ... but most of us on this trip have not ridden these roads, seen what is there ... so we will do a more casual riding pace, stopping frequently for photos and to take in the scenery.
have not plotted routes back yet, as will be dependent on road conditions/weather. if it was summer, we would ride back up north on CA-395, then west on CA-120 through Yosemite. unfortunately,... -

How Do, From North Yorks
Hi Everyone,
just introducing myself as a Newbie to the forum having just taken delivery of my new Scrambler this morning (image attached). I am very much looking forward to getting out on it, when the weather improves (snowing here presently!).
Previous bike was a Versys Tourer, which was great but I never did any touring so I thought I would buy something a bit more entertaining. I also have a Honda Monkey which is like the Scramblers little brother
Looking forward to posting more in the coming weeks,
Thanks

New Ducati V2 Member
Hi all, first time Ducati owner here (been riding for 20 odd years). Got a Panigale V2 track bike. Done a number of trackdays last season on it, had one big slide and decided now is the time to put some track fairings on. Did so this winter, and for the first in 20 years, dropped a stationary bike
All good now (albeit £260 lighter after replacing some bent bits), almost ready for her first trackday of the season in a couple of weeks at Cadwell Park. Just need to get some new tyres fitted and off we go with the missus and her RS 660. -

For Sale Ex Iom T T F1 Race Bike
This bike was raced extensively by Dave Cartwright between 1978 and 1980. He achieved excellent results in British short circuit racing and completed three Formula 1 TT’s finishing 16th in 1978 – the year of Hailwood’s famous victory - 14th in 1979 and 18th in 1980. With a best lap time of over 100MPH, this bike is no slouch. Dave was sponsored by Mick Walker and he is pictured in Mick’s book “Ducati Desmo – The making of a masterpiece” on pages 107 and 108. Original Borrani rims are fitted. Please note that this is not a concours bike and shows signs of being raced (e. g. welded up foot rest). There is a considerable history file with letters from Mick Walker and Dave. Everything works although there is no MoT as I have not been using it. I am only selling this bike because I am now unable to kick start it! This would be a pefect bike for anyone wanting to do the proposed parade lap at the Manx this year. The price is £26,995. -
1200 DVT Desmo Service
Had the Desmo service carried out this week at Cornerspeed. The ride there and home was like chalk and cheese, the roll on from 68-70ish was a marked improvement. The bike was well cleaned when I picked it up and all the old removed parts were there if I wanted to check, didn’t really want to as his reputation proceeds him. Great job all round and doing the fuel sensor that packed up on the way up there and the temp sensor that had corroded and I never noticed. Now if he could sort out the weather as it took hours for me to thaw out. Thanks Neil for the great job. -
2012 1199s In A Carbon Frock
I don't think I posted many updates when changing the bike from it's original red to it's current look but here's a better late than never thread to capture the ongoing life of the little beasty. The short version is that I purchased 7 years ago to the month with 2.5k on the clock. Ran for a couple of years doing a couple of track days before a minor spill at Rockingham.
When sourcing new parts, I came across some carbon fairings and it went from there. This week I finally changed the old clip ons for the black powdercoated ones I had done a couple of years ago and never got round to fitting (forgot I had them). Turns out one was a little bent....
Anyway, fitted both sides and the effect is subtle but effective. It's a shame I waited til now to change them. I took the chance to replace a bolt in the lever guard as the head was mullered in the original and fitted a replacement screen.
Next was a smattering of titanium bolts that I had had for a while before it was bath time ready...
