Hit a nice milestone today.
Admittedly, I've personally only put on 10K of those in the four years I've had it, but what a bike it's been!

Considering all the stories of how "you can't treat a Ducati like a honda", I've pretty much treated it exactly like a Honda. Apart from the occasional user error (see my disconnected fuel line thread), it's been as dead-nuts reliable as my Accord.

Who knows, maybe the fact I use it so often is actually what it needs. If so, I will continue to toil through this most difficult task for the foreseeable future.

so before I start with the bike, let me introduce myself again.
My name is Lewis and I live in Ashford Kent (uk) back in 2016/2017 I had a Ducati 848 that I purchased from superbike factory. I only had this a few weeks, and bike ended up with a broken engine, had 5k miles on the clock.
The bike went back, and to be honest I lost faith in the brand and my wallet wasn’t big enough to purchase another.

so skip a few years.
I’ve come off the road for my thrill and mainly been riding on the track, this was until last year when money was tight and I had to sell my toys, sucks to be me!

Within the last 2 weeks I’ve got myself a new job and last Thursday I had a call from Revcomps (online competition site) saying I have won a Ducati 1199 plus 1k. Well if none watched this on Facebook I seemed the most unimpressed person in the world (thinking is was a joke) but nope it’s all legit.

I’ve had the monies paid and just waiting on the courier to deliver when best...

Being a fight sod, I thought I’d do my own clear cover. I sourced a damaged cover in case if went wrong for a tenner. I cut the center out carefully with a jig saw, I needed the cut out part for the clear template. I used 2mm acrylic sheet, warmed it up until flexible then carefully pressed it into the cut out center.
Made a flange to sit inside the existing cover out of sheet ally and riveted it in. 4mm cap screws hold in place
Only cost me 20 quid and after several hundred miles still looks fine. I like the fact that it matches the original profile of the cover

Well had probably one of the best track days ever, though wet very first thing it dried up nicely for a cracking day, big thanks to @tcrofty7 ,@Expat Jack , @duc996bp . And few other who aren't on here.

And big thanks to @iamme for helping with pit duties, paddock stands and bringing cups of tea.

Hi all,
I'm new to the forum and new to Ducati.
I have delayed posting for a while as I bought the new Monster and I am aware of the emotion that the bike incites.....
Despite all of this though when I took it out it made me smile and continues to do so, even though it has already broken down once (dodgy battery failed).
Anyway I shall look forward to learning about the joy of owning a Ducati and getting to know people in the group.

I have finally bought a bike I have lusted after for many years, the S4R. Having ridden/ commuted a S4 in all weathers in 2001/2 I fell in love with the Monster. I know the plumbing takes away from the beauty but it also adds something in my mind. This S4R is a stunning, low mileage (4800) 2003 bike with a couple of subtle yet worthwhile electrical upgrades.

Anyway, the S4 went and after a gap, a Multi 950 and more recently the utterly fantastic Multi 1200 Enduro, came along and now the S4R. I love the bike but it demonstrates how far Ducati have come in engines, electrics and suspension and invariably it leaves me asking a couple of questions I'd like to bounce off the forum:
The S4R is happiest accelerating and a half throttle below 4000 rpm gives a snatchy drivetrain - what gear are people in in a 30 limit and do the chains like to run looser than the 25mm recommended?
I love the look of the original exhausts and although I ran Termis on my S4, they seem to be too long in...

Booked on the Saturday 8am ferry from Portsmouth to Caen then return home on the overnight sailing in Sept. That’s enough time to ride to the beaches, take in the atmosphere, grab a bite to eat and back overnight. Ideal! (£45 for me and the bike - I’ll happily lose that if the weathers poo and I don’t go!)

Well lads

After selling a 2014 690smcr I was looking for something to keep me on two wheels that I could still do trackdays on but also allow me to travel abit easier longer distance as the 690 although great fun was absolutely no good for long distance especially with the shorter gearing needed to really make it as fun as it should be

So after looking around for a few weeks a 749 literally only a few minutes from home popped up so I went for a look, took a test ride and before I was back I knew I was buying it. Although its far from pristine as something I will ride in winter and use for trackdays I'm not overly worried about that. Although I will pick up a set of cheap fairings to allow me not to damage the oem Ducati panels that are on it.

Seeing as it was just above with Robbie in moto technic (the go to Ducati guy here in ireland) for a full service,fresh belts and a few issues sorting i was able to use it right off the bat but I have a list of things to sort out.

I'm collecting a 2015 899 Panigale this week, in time for a trip to the Manx races at the Isle of Man.
To say I'm excited is a massive understatement!
My first Ducati, after 24 years of biking. I do road and occasional trackdays. Not so much touring anymore with 2 small children, but hopefully that will come back around.
I've convinced myself that life is too short put-off the finer things for too long!
I know the value of these forums to owners, so I hope to contribute in any way I can, starting with a subscription.

I wanted to share this with the forum because I believe with a small range of tools and youtube/Haynes manual/forum guidance, the novice can work on his own bike.

This summer I rolled my sleeves up, took a deep breath and decided the time had come for me to get better acquainted with my dear love, the 916. Stood for two years, i i made a shopping list and began..

Here is what I did...

Timing belts and pulley bearings.
Removed left crack case cover/alternator cover.
Starter motor repair & brushes set.
Full removal and polish of exhausts.
Replaced fractured handlebar clamp.
New battery.
Complete new housing brackets and parts/inc. rubbers for the end cans.
Replaced broken oil pressure switch (mine had the OEM 1995 one!)
Replaced all 4 throttle body spring clips.
Renewed the spark plugs.
Oil change.
Coolant flush and change.
Replaced missing lefthand airbox gasket.

I also replaced other little bits e.g the copper manifold nuts/washers etc as i went along.

The cost came...

I am now the proud owner of a 1994 S 916. An unmolested original early as possible bike has long been on my radar, most I considered were either later bikes or heavily modified.
This bike, I believe, it s one of the earliest bikes that came to the UK before the fire at the Varese factory. One of the 199 distributed through Europe.
Have mailed Livio for more info but Italy is shut until the end of August.
Had a long chat with Richard at Louigi Moto about what to look out for. All of the distinguishing features of early bikes were there.
Blue sensor just below headstock
Aluminium non adjustable brake leavers
Clip on clamps with single bolt
Gold steering damper with chrome rod (later ones were black)
Front of tank rounded as opposed to the square bit around ignition barrel
Rear disc held by four M6 hex screws.
Lower faring fixings.
P8 computer

registered August 1994 so on a M plate.

Anyway all of the above and other features tallied up with Richards advice. Deal was done and...

Well. Time flies. In late April I got a Tuono v4 Factory in an attempt to try something different as opposed to sports bikes. It didn't work! I just could not get on with in essence a full fat sportsbike with upright bars. So. it had to go.

Replaced by what I hope will become a bit of a keeper/do everything bike.
It's the Sport version with upgraded forged wheels, thicker discs, Li battery, endurance chain, Akra end can etc etc. So, nicely equipped. I am going to try and resist throwing bits at it. So far just the essentials - rad guards, bobbing, bar end weights (hopefully deaden the vibes a bit - the Tuono was as bad) and evotech tail tidy on order.

Amazing bike. Under 8k you just pootle along and when the fancy takes you, over 8k the shift cam comes in and it all goes very very blurry. Comfortable enough to tour on etc etc.

Lets see how long this lasts.

So after what seemed like ages I’ve finally taken delivery of a tidy 1299s.
Some nice parts already on it and low mileage at 4800 miles.
Couldn’t ask for a more efficient/helpful process from George at moto rapido with my first Ducati.
