1260 Speedo Angels ... Good People
A quick message to advise a great customer experience i had with the good people of Speedo Angels.
I purchased one of their nano-glass dash screen protectors a few years ago for my 1260s. The protector arrived quickly to California, installed easily, and was fantastic at keeping scratches from happening on the multi's dash ... which we all know can scratch just by looking at it.
Fast forward from 2020 to last week, when i was on a 2400 mile ride touring 5 states (California, Oregon, Idaho, Montana, and Washington) raising money for the Pediatric Brain Tumor Foundation, and the ambient temps hit 104ºF for two of the days, and the protector adhesive failed, allowing it to peel back from all the edges, making it difficult to read the dash at times.
I ordered a new set of the dash protectors when i returned from the ride, and in the order note box i advised that i loved the product, but at higher temps, the adhesive seems to fail.
I was surprised when i received a confirmation... -
Pro Twins - Great Experience
Just wanted to give due thanks and respect to Pete at ProTwins.
I have an old 5 spring Ducabike slipper clutch in my 1098s and the spider spring has gone - again!
I told Pete what I had late yesterday and he's just called to say he's got the part en route and will send on when it arrives - All off 1 phone call from a bloke (me) he'd never spoken to.
He said if I'm ever in the area to pop down and if I ever need technical bike advise, to give him a call.
Top service. -

A Late Newbie Intro
Greetings from Santa Cruz, CA. I was reminded of my lack of an intro post, I’ve frequented this forum for the past couple of years.
Not new to bikes, but new to Ducati since 2020. I’d always lusted from the first time I laid eyes on a 916 in the showroom. Actually had recurring dreams of it for a year. Unfortunately my Ducati taste had a Yamaha budget, so for the next 20 years I rode a few Yamahas, a Triumph, and a couple BMWs. When COVID hit I decided to fulfill my Ducati dream. First with a 1995 Strada, then lucked upon an SPS shortly after that. A couple 748R. A Multistrada 1260 PP. A 996. And finally a Panigale V2. Of those, I kept one of the 748R, the 996, and the V2. Love each of them in their own ways.
I love working on my bikes (most recent project was exhaust for the V2), learning more about them, and of course riding them around the Santa Cruz Mountains, and generally admiring their beauty.
Huge thanks to all of those who have shared wisdom here, it’s a great... -

1993 900ss Superlight
I've been posting this story on a couple other forums but someone here asked about it, so why not. Keep in mind this is a USA bike/story. We only got the Superlight for one year - after '93 we got the "SP" which was basically a Superlight with a dual seat and low exhaust. So in the US the Superlight is a rather rare bike. I think they sent around 300 of them over here? And they were all yellow. I don't recall the last time I've seen one out in the wild, and I see a lot of Ducatis.
How it started - In 1993 I was still paying off a 1991 907ie when the Superlight came out. When I saw one at my dealer I sat and stared for about half an hour, running the numbers in my head, but I just couldn't justify it. In hindsight I wish I had traded in my 907 on one but such is life. I ended up buying a 900ss/cr in '95 and it began my total infatuation with the brand, my non-Ducatis were sold off. I stayed loyal for 25 years, then slipped, but am now back to all Ducatis. Yep, I'm a fanboy. And I... -

For Sale 1000ss Superlight
I've decided I need to move my 1000SS DS on to make room for another project.
It's basically a 2003 1000SSie DS which I've converted to 1990's 900 Superlight bodywork, including the tank and Seat pad.
The build thread is here:
https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/1000ssie-ds-900sl-hybrid.84101/
I was very careful to ensure that the seat unit was positioned so the seat pad is in exactly the same place and height as the standard 1000SS was.
So once on board it's exactly like riding a 1000SS, but you don't have to hide when you get off it because of the styling.
It can be converted back to a standard 1000SS very easily as I was careful to ensure the frame etc was not modified, and if any bolt on parts needed to be modified I brought replacements to modify rather than use the originals.
So it looks like a 900 Superlight, but has the benefit of:
That lovely 1000CC Fuel injected Twin spark engine.
The better looking Aluminium swingarm that a lot of 900SS owners crave.... -
