All the details of the new model will be unveiled on Thursday 10th March at 4.00 pm CET on Ducati.com and on the Ducati YouTube channel.

Hi guys, well, finally, I’ve made it!
I’m 62 yrs young and been on bikes through 45 years, on road and tracks, owned 70+ bikes but insanely (shame on me!) I’ve never had a Ducati I guess just like with the ladies in my life, although objects of incredible beauty and desire, the ‘high maintenance’ had scared me off ‍♂️….until now
I do really appreciate the beauty in all Ducati’s but since the Panigale came out in 2011, I’ve always lusted after one, it is (imho) the sexiest styling I’ve EVER seen, on ANY bike (with a rear end smaller and tighter than Kylie Minogue’s ). Sadly I’ve never had the shekels to buy one but it’s always been on my ‘bucket list’. My last item on the list was to fly in a Spitfire over the White Cliffs of Dover, wifey treated me to that last year, absolutely incredible and emotional (sadly she couldn’t stretch to a Panigale )
So, time is running out (physical limitations) and an 1199 came up last week through a friend at an offer that was too good to refuse...

just thought it worth a mention should anyone be looking into this. For info, i have no affiliation...

i've had my 916 engine cerakoted by AVL Motorsport. recommended to me after a cup of tea visit to Louigi Moto.
i have to say this work is exceptional, done really promptly and meticulously; the finish is superb; before and after pic below....

I have a passion for motorcycles, and I was hoping that one day I could share that with my son. I honestly didn't know if he would like them as much as I do and if he would want to learn to ride. I didn't want to force him into liking motorcycles or riding them, so I've taken it easy and eased him in gently.

So not to annoy my neighbours and anyone else in the village I decided to start him off with an electric bike, an Oset MX10. I thought he could ride on the fields, on a mx track and with some minor modifications on a kart track.

We started on the field, and it was fun but he was bored after 10 minutes or so which is fine. We then tried a flat track which went very very wrong. Too soon, to noisy and way too much for him to take in. I had to change tack, I didn't appreciate that for a child who has never experienced anything like this in their lives before it is a bit of a shock to the system, never mind the banter and swearing which he isn’t akin to yet!

I traded my black 1200R last year for a new Z900RS.

Not done much for a while, but one job I've been meaning to do is to fit a radiator guard. Never had a radiator guard on any bike I've owned and fortunately never needed one but i thought I'd treat the Pani to one.

I do however begrudge paying Evotech over the odds for a bit of mesh though.....I've got an Evotech tail tidy which is a quality bit of kit but I thought I'd have a go a making this on my own. Bought some automotive mesh typically used for front grilles etc.

Its a fairly big job and a bit of bastard to do so thats been putting me off too but gave it a go anyway.

Started off by stripping it down and freeing off the cowling that surrounds the radiator and oil cooler. I then made a paper template and used this to cut the mesh with a grinder.

I cut 5mm bigger all the way round so that it would sit behind the cowling and be held snuggly and securely in place. Once cut i tidied up the edges and painted the exposed metal to protect it. Finally I used a little insulation...

My name is Jay and I have just took ownership of a Ducati 1299 base model, early 2017 model with 3800 miles, not yet ridden it.

I am new to Ducati's, I have had countless Jap IL4s but once I tried an Aprilia V2 I never looked back, I guess that is why I am here now.

The Italian bikes seem to have so much more character and I love the V2 power delivery.

I will be trawling the pages and racking your brains over the coming months, firstly with the mystic gold colour that belongs to the anniversary edition 1299.

Hoping that this Ducati proves reliable and ownership is a good first experience for me.

Previous Ducati's were a Sport classic 1000 & an 851
Bit of a fair weather biker, but having taken early retirement, any sunny day is a day out on the bike, on either the Fighter or my R9T Racer
