Brands Indy - 2005!
Digging through some old hard drives in lockdown, found this vid from 2005. I wonder who owns my 748R now.. (#242 I think) and my brother's foggy rep. Yep, we should have kept them both!
I still remember gaffa taping my miniDV camcorder that had cost me over a grand inside the single seat unit and wondering if it would shake to bits. It was wired to a remote lipstick camera gaffered in various spots through the day. Fun times. -
Went To Buy A Bike And Ended Up With This Instead!!
Bike now on the back burner until I find a job, we needed a more practical mode of transport initially and I’ve saved the expense of having to buy 2 new helmets (we bought jackets jeans and boots with us on the plane)
Ordered a black rear spoiler to finish it off
It even projects a pony on the floor when you open the door -

Books
Today I received my signed copy limited edition Maria Costello revised Queen of bikers
I met Maria when I was involved in DD racing and we chatted on the pit wall at Assen (I didn’t know who she was at the time) we chatted about the racing and the boys I wonder if she enjoyed not being recognised at that time as the conversation was typically girls chat.
Anyway I have 191/200 and a dedication I’m chuffed to bits -

Good Riddance 2020
2020 hey. What a year.
Last New Year’s eve I knew we were looking at a terrible year. My wife had just been diagnosed with cancer but despite the shit storm we had plenty of good times too and you know what, we laughed a lot too.
This is how it went.
Cancer diagnosis. Followed by the worst flu we’d ever had in our lives. Totally floored us, New Year’s Eve we were too ill to go out. We stayed in despite having paid for the bash. We didn’t want to give that shitty bug to anyone else, how ironic.
Saw the Oncologist again, he said something else had shown up too.
‘Oh ffs what now’?
She had two broken ribs (from coughing so much)!
‘Oh! Is that all’? We just laughed it was such relief. The Oncologist was a little surprised, we laughed at his reaction too.
Then Chemo.
Then the Mrs’s hair fell out, I had to shave her head. That was a weird one but we laughed, we actually laughed while I was doing it.
Out of the blue, a phone call, no warning, no preamble, Chemo cancelled half... -

Newbie Panigale 1199s
Hi all sorry for the delay but been a busy week as you can imagine.
So introducing myself. I'm 44 year old firefighter and I've just bought my first Ducati.
Had all the usual superbikes over the years, R1 GSXR1000, Fireblade and my last bike was the kawaski Z800 which I had for about 6 months took it for a service and walked out with this bike.
Although after I put new chain and sprockets on it and paid for the service.
So not only is this the first ducati I've owner but also my first v twin but I have to say I thought my other superbikes were not only fast but awesome bikes. This thing is another level it's like a balastic missile -

Xmas Poem
'twas the night before Christmas at the motorcycle store.
The sales clerks were gone; they'd locked up the door.
Back in service, the tools were hung with great care,
The floors had been swept, the workbenches bare.
Sales had been brisk, filling staff with elation
As they headed down south for their winter vacation.
The new shiny sportbikes had all been sold out,
And all that was left was an Indian Scout,
A Norton Commando, a Rudge Multi too,
And a black BMW R32,
A Vincent, a Matchless, and Velocette,
And a drippy old Brough that wouldn't start on a bet.
"This stinks," said the Norton. "We're just as fine
As those Japanese bikes the kids buy all the time."
"You're right," said the Vincent as he grew agitated.
"All I need is to get my back tire inflated,
Then I could compete with the best of `em yet."
"Me, too! I'm still fast," cried the old Velocette.
"If someone was handy, somebody smart,
They'd know how to fix us and get us to start."
And so while they grumbled and whined and... -

Decided To Pre-empt Santa
Ever since Wera tools were mentioned on the forum, I have been looking for a local stockist. By chance this morning, I found out my local DeWalt dealer carries a small range. Way too late to ask Santa so I bought this for myself

Carb Parts For Bdst 38s
Merry Christmas everyone!
During the first lockdown I built a cafe racer from a 900ss that had been left to rot for over a decade. I’m pleased with the outcome but I was unable to get the bike to run correctly before lockdown ended. A subsequent house move had stalled things further but over Christmas I’m trying to sort the running issues. I’ve completely stripped and cleaned the carbs but whilst doing so I noticed that the items in the first two images are damaged/cracked and have been glued back together. Does anyone have these carb parts in their stash that they could sell me? Can anyone recommend where I may be able to buy these parts? Thanks in advance for any help/suggestions.
I can post more pics of the bike if people are interested. -
