Monster Replacement.
Sadly my beautiful and much loved Monster 1200S needed to go. As I get older (77 next week) I've found it gradually becoming too heavy for me. Particularly when manoeuvring it about.
It's been the best bike I've ever owned, and I've had a few.
I was really pleased to hear about the new much lighter Streetfighter V2S, I wanted one. But disappointment followed when I heard what the seat height was and that Ducati weren't going to provide a lower seat. In fact they do a higher option? I did follow up with a couple of dealers and Ducati Italy, but nothing came of those enquiries.
So I sadly I had to leave the marque and look elsewhere. So I've bought a new Street Triple RS.
Forum members did ask me to stay on this forum and let them know about the new bike.
After a bit of a wobbly start when the handover was delayed due to a faulty left hand switch assembly.
But so far and only a couple of hundred miles I'm quite pleased. Paint and finish is great, weight is fine and the bike rides... -
916 Alloy Coolant Tank
Morning All,
At the end of February there was a thread asking if there was a source of or anyone who could make an alloy coolant tank.
A member from here reached out to a company called Pro Alloy Motorsport who signed up here and reached out saying they could probably manufacture the tanks but would need a bike to work out the design on.
The thread got pulled after that for reasons unknown.
Before it was pulled I'd got in touch with Chris at Pro Alloy and offered him the use of my bike, in exchange for this he gave me the first tank they made for free.
Below are pictures of that tank, I believe Pro Alloy will put these into production for people to buy but as I have no affiliation with them beyond loaning them my bike I have no idea of prices, timeslines etc.
The quality of the tank is excellent and it's a really good fit in the frame, as you can see they've managed to fit 2 p clips to the frame to hold the tank nicely in place instead of it being free to bounce around like... -
Living The Red Dream In Norway!
Hi Folks - New to this forum but far from new to Ducati.
Been riding superbikes since 1990 RD500, a few gixxers, RGV's etc then popped my Duc cherry in 1996 on a 916 Bip. Had only Ducs since then
Current fleet is four in various states of tune and purpose:
1997 900SS in a project restomod state (more in another thread perhaps)
1997 ST-2 My daily beater (well in summer) & do around 10k km / year (bang )
1997 916 SPS just under 8000km on the clock and not gaining much
2001 996R just over 40k km on the clock and not gaining much either
2006 ST4S ABS bought in a rush to replace the ST2 after it went bang on a track day
Originally from the UK I moved to Norway 27 years ago; the roads are sublime, the weather unpredictable, the speeding fines & penalties are draconian, and the summers are too short. The garage always slightly too small and my wife says I have too many "red" bikes already
Been active on MS for years, as I'm sure a few others here are too. Same handle & I... -
749 1100 2v
I've always been a huge 2V superbike fan and this idea of building one has been itching in my brain for a long time. I've hade many supersports so it was kind of natural to eventually make one which factory never did. About a year ago i bought this cheap and neglegted 749 which i butchered as soon as i got it home. Immediately after that i started searching for a 1000 or 1100 DS engine. It didn't take long and soon there was a packet coming from Germany to Finland. It was a 1100S Monster engine.
As many of you know it does't fit straight in so i had to make a tool to mill the engine cases.
No time to negotiate with machinery shops so i made a tool for the job. It's a generic 10mm axle mated to a drill. Swing bolt needle bearings did the guiding and it worked out pretty well.
Engine wen't in and then i decided that for the first summer i'll just patch it up and gather some miles. Exhaust was far from optimal but i knew how horrible job it is to make one with 749 swingarm so... -

996 Current Market Sps - Ohlins
I have a really tidy Ohlins clad 2001 996SPS. It’s done about 15k and had a sympathetic refresh about 4 or 5 years ago now, where everything was stripped and rebuilt and loads of new fasteners fitted etc.
im thinking of selling it as an R has crossed my paths and wondered if people had any experience of market conditions with such a bike recently?
I spoke to my Ducati specialist who looks after it (well respected guy!) about valuations as he has looked after it for the last 5 years and he said due to its condition and model he would estimate its value around £19k!
whilst i dont want to undersell, i also dont want to over sell - welcome anyone’s feedback or input before I write up an advert for it (should the R come off) -
The Time Has Come!
I'm just putting the feelers out. As I approach 68 yrs of age, the time has come to sell some of my bikes. First up is a showroom condition Paul Smart Replica with 3495 miles on the clock. A specialist dealer has offered me £17K for it as it stands (will need a full service, battery etc, still has original tyres from when new!! its been in my house on display) but I'd rather it go to someone that will take it on and enjoy it. Has some nice factory Paul Smart extras and the unique registration shown in the pictures. I live near to Lincoln where the bike was purchased from in 2006. Anyone seriously interested, please message me for full details and photos. -
Ooops, I Did It (again)
Had a test ride on the new Sf V2 today.
had a test ride on the previous v2 about a year ago - sweet engine, but didn’t get on with much else of it at the time, so left it like that.
But the new… What a joy - butter smooth engine, crisp sound, new-car smell - oh wait…!
Well, you know what it ended with when the hormones gets all excited …….
✍️ deal done, Multi is going. Now to the wait of a factory order… ️ -
Bagged A Minichamp Model At A Bargain Price
I've several models I have collected over the years, some by New Ray (1/6 scale 999 and a 1/6 scale Capirossi Moto GP bike) as well as a 1/6 scale Minichamps 998R. Today I managed to land this 1/12 scale Minichamps model of the 2000 996 Foggy WSBK, which is the bike my current steed is supposedly modelled on. These are selling for close to £200 and up to £350 for a perfect, clean boxed example, which mine by and large is, BUT, it has some signs of bubbling on the tank which reduced the price down to £23.00 (at least that was my winning bid and I think is an absolute bargain, given the market).
I might see if I can have the paint corrected, as it looks like a common problem on some of Minichamps models, where the metal surface underneath the paint most likely was contaminated or not cleaned properly before paint was applied and has, over time, caused the paint to lift. It's not that unsightly so I might just live with it for now, with a view to correcting it in future. There is... -
For Sale Ducati 749s / 924cc Track Day Bike
Hello Troops
Well, the time has come to Hang up the Leathers and give up doing tack days.
So, I have for sale my much loved and modified 749/924cc Track day old faithful.
Now this may well not be everyone’s cup of tea. Because it is quite modified / non-standard, eBay special. If no one wants it. I’ll break it for the parts as it’s got all the right bits.
So here is the spec list.
Big bore 749 motor.
749s bottom end and heads with 999 100mm bore cylinders and Pistal racing piston which are specifically designed for this conversion. Which brings the capacity up to 924cc. The combustion chambers have been re profiled to unshroud the valves to match the 100mm bores. I pretty much copied everything done by Brad Black in his 924 conversion, detailed here.BikeBoy.org - 749 With 924 Big Bore Kit (base model 749 engine). The flywheel was drastically lightened! Which really speeds up throttle response, though it does make the STM slipper clutch a bit tricky to set up nicely, so I have... -

50% Swiss, 50% Italian, 100% Ducatista - That's me.
Living near Zurich, I love to ride my "Noisy Pearl" in the Swiss Alps. She is a SuperSport 950 S in Arctic White Pearl. And we are very much in love with each other.

Chat Gpt Images
Couldn’t see another thread on this, so thought I would start one. Much as I fear AI is ripe for abuse, it really has amazing potential (to destroy traditional creative arts perhaps?). All that aside, two minutes and a crappy long distance shot of me got this based on the prompt of create retro poster of me on 93 Ducati 750ss. -

V4 V4 Pikes Peak Vs V4 Rs
After 3 years, and 10k miles on the Pikes Peak, a decision had to be made whether to keep the PP for another year, or trade it in for another one. I’ve said on here many times that the V4 Pikes Peak was the best bike I’ve ever had, so it was a tough decision to make.
That bike took me all over Europe several times, and didn’t skip a beat. Not one single issue. The performance was mind blowing with the full system, it was all you’d ever need in a bike. Chuck a bag on the back, and disappear for a week, two weeks, a month, it was built to munch up the miles.
A chat with my dealer, and he offered me exactly the same trade in as he did this time last year, so that put the wheels in motion. The natural replacement would have been another Pikes Peak, as it was so good, but there was always a voice inside my head saying to get an RS. I’d said on here that it was pointless, not worth the extra money, blah blah blah, but those that know me knew that I’d end up with one.
So, the... -
Happy Owner Of Sandcast 750 Gt
Hi everybody,
As the title says.
Located in Brussels, Belgium.
I acquired my bike last year as a present to my venerable age, having ridden the same bike during my youth.
She was freshly restored by the PO (several years ago, but only sparely ridden) and I am still in her tuning phase.
Foreseen in the next future: oil change, ignition timing and carbs tuning.
Happy to join the forum and to share experience! -
Long Time Reader Newbie Poster
Well met, folks.
Finally joined these forums to share info on using the OBDStar tool. Ex-colonial from Central Colorado here. Ducati experience started in ‘97 when I helped a friend ride a ‘94 E900 Elefant the roughly 750 miles back to his home in Indiana from its purchase point in Virginia. Enjoyed it so much I begged right of first refusal if he ever sold the bike. That led to my purchasing the bike from him in 2015 and riding it lots of Rocky Mountain miles until trading it for a 2013 Guzzi Stelvio in 2018. Came back to my senses and traded the second Stelvio for a low mileage 2016 MTSPPE in late 2023. I’ve managed to make the ride to the top of Pike’s Peak an annual event these past two autumns so I’ve included a picture from last fall’s ride. Unfortunately, living here at 9000 ft above the waves has its downside and the bike’s been parked up since shortly after that waiting for snow and slime to clear from the roads up here. Back on the road in April I hope.

For Sale Ducati Panigale V4 Speciale 1317/1500
So I’m considering selling my Speciale, but before you read any further it was a Cat N in 2023. Fully restored, pre accident photos available as I bought it direct from MotoMine and collected it from them. They managed to get me the handbook, spare key and service record from the previous owner which was very kind of them.
I’ve literally just taken it out for the first time this year and whether it’s me, the roads, the power of the bike or the imdpending human my wife is planning to bring into the world in 2 months I don’t know but thought I’d gauge the interest in her, as although a stunner I understand the cat N devalues it.
worst case it stays under its speciale cover in the corner of the garage for god know how long…. But that seems a shame, if someone out there is looking for one and could give her a good home
2500 miles, just MOT’d, will have to remove the plate as although DNR has its own medical definition it’s actually mine and the wife’s initials
