Taking The Rough With The Smooth
Been waiting for this little guy for over a year in the planning
Welcome to the family Basil -
Must Find Another Bike.
Got bad withdrawal symptoms.
Something lightweight like a Yamaha 2 Stroke 200+cc.....YR5, YDS7, RD (not LC).
I don't have the strength for heavy bikes any more.
Working runner which needs improvement / fiddling around with etc.
Something around £2K would be ideal.

Ducati Records The Best Third Quarter Ever Despite The Complex Global Situation
The third quarter closed with 14,694 total motorcycles delivered worldwide
A total of 4,468 motorcycles were delivered in September, of which the Panigale, Ducati Scrambler and Multistrada are the families with the best results
China, Switzerland and Germany, from the beginning of the year to the end of September, recorded higher sales compared to the same period in 2019
Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 30 October 2020 – Despite the complex global situation, Ducati, with 14,694 motorcycles sold, registers the best third quarter ever. In fact, September confirmed the recovery trend that began in June, with 4,468 motorcycles delivered to customers.
Since June - also thanks to the positive market trend - Ducati has started to recover the decline in performance recorded in the first months of the year, partially filling the sales gap compared to the previous year caused by the slowdowns that are affecting the whole world.
2020 is an extremely complex year due to the Covid-19... -
Rsv4 Out, V4s In
I said goodbye to my RSV4RF last Saturday. Absolutely loved it but I was so achy after every track session so I’ve come back to Ducati with a V4S.
I’ll be converting it to track over the winter, ready for Almeria in March if the travel restrictions are lifted and then Portimao in June.
OEM track fairings are on order, then off to Sublime designs for a custom Wrap, few bits of carbon and some crash protection and that’ll be it.
can’t wait for next spring! -
Hello From Santa Cruz, California
Hi everyone,
I'm a motorcycle collector, restorer and (above all) rider. I have a list of bikes that I want to own in my lifetime and I'm fortunate to have almost all of them in the workshop these days (I call them my bucket-list bikes). Among them is the 916. Two years ago, I got very lucky and was able to buy a 1994/95 916 Varese here in California. What a special bike.
Still working on replacing a few of the incorrect parts.
Among the other bikes that I am passionate about are the early 1969 Honda CB750 sandcasts. Here's a timelapse of me restoring sandcast #538:
You can check out some of my other restorations here:

Nice to meet everyone!

First Ducati, My Childhood Poster Bike!
Firstly hi to everyone, I wasn’t in the market for a 916 as I honestly thought they were becoming out of my reach price wise, but when this came up I had to have it. The price was too good.
sadly it has after market fairings, but the rest of it is all there, my plan is to make it as close to original as poss, engine out full frame paint new genuine bolts so it looks right. And a few small upgrades.
I Managed to get the original rear wheel with it too, have begun stripping it down and I am going to start by getting a paint match I’m happy with for the frame and wheels. I am lucky enough to be in that line of work so it should be easy enough.
so far I have removed the faring, Headlight bucket and supports off and stripped back to bare metal. The subframe is now off and at work that’s next for stripping once I have the colour. All new bolts, washers, anti-vibration mounts ordered to try make a nice job of it. -
Desmo 1452 Is All Mine!!
Hello folks
I shook hands to finalize a deal today to buy Desmo (number 1452). 5731km on the clock, very little use over the past 3 years, but cherished with full service history. Comes with the GP exhaust and fairings.
Still wearing 2009 vintage tires, so it'll need some new (16"!) boots before I can give it a proper run out. Hopefully being delivered on Saturday. **EXCITED**
I think that's my Ducati Greatest Hits collection complete.... for now!

For Sale Reluctantly, The Tt1 Needs A New Owner.
Something very special has come up that means the 1986 904cc TT1 Italian Endurance Racer needs to find a new home.
She is CRMC registered and has a "Q" plate V5. She also has some interesting "modifications" for endurance racing like the rear wheel driven generator and "ECU" timing.
I have spent a lot of time and money sorting out the minor issues as well as belts, oil, filters, battery, fork oil, cables and brake fluid to get her track fit.
I had the lower fairing section re-painted, but cowl, tank and seat are original.
Silencer extension for "quiet" days.
She carries a healthy "patina" relating to her history. Tyres and pads have been replaced and used.
I have taken her to Castle Combe, Donington and Lydden Hill for the Bike Shed Festival last year where she came third and was in the "winners" final.
Here are a few pics.
I am looking for 17k. Located in West Sussex.
Thanks for reading this. -
I've Fallen For The V2
Hello all!
I had a 916 poster up on my wall when I was a boy along side Andrea Corr, It was my dream bike!
I've always known that one day I'd have a Ducati. I said goodbye to the Fireblade and got myself a Panigale V2!
It's got a full Akro system and single seat cover. Next all black clear clutch cover and racing fuel cap.
She is menacingly loud, plenty fast enough and beautiful and I am very happy.

Quarantine Here We Come / Go - We’re Getting Outta Here!
Well after a 6 month delay we finally got confirmation that the Aussies will let us in. We now have exemptions to fly and will be heading off at the end of November.
Unfortunately no gentle introduction to 40’ deg summers as we’re straight in!
2 weeks of quarantine to endure first as we’re escorted to the facility and not allowed out of the room.
Looking forward to semi retirement and a new life down under -
Giuliano Maoggi
After spending most of the morning hunting online for a decent resolution example of this famous image (which Ducati have "doctored" to remove the non-PC offending cigarette), I've photoshopped the essential fag back into the image and added a splash of colour. This should be winging its way to me shortly in the form of a large canvas print, which is destined for the new garage. I've tweaked the image considerably to enhance it somewhat. Think it's come out OK. -

The Mother Of All Bin Shots?
This goes out to all those that have been instrumental in the monumental success of "project stand of doom" ie @brettski, @Carr01 and @GunZenBomZ
i chanced across it on ebay earlier this week and it is now in my car having been picked up by @Carr01 in phase 1, brought down to bucks by @GunZenBomZ in phase 2 with @brettski having helped me out with a loan stand in phase 0
epic effort gang i owe you all -
916 Biposto To Mono Conversion
I’ve decided that I’d like to convert my 916 from Biposto to Mono and so have researched all the options
The simplest way would be to reuse the biposto subframe but the holes where the rear foot pegs attach would remain visible which I’d prefer not to see. So I decided to do it properly and source OEM parts where possible
First acquisition was a seat from @JoeC
Minus the seat pad and lights ...
Next up was the subframe. Turns out there are two versions depending on which ECU you have P8 or 1.6M ECU
I bought the correct 1.6M frame from @final_edition
Next up was the mono seat which differs from the front biposto seat with a higher profile at the back. Found one on EBay
The only remaining major part I needed was the mono undertray (I’m told you can reuse the biposto one but I didn’t want to make any non reversible alterations to the original seat which I will keep so the bike can be returned to stock in future) Anyone that has looked for mono undertray’s recently will find they... -
950 New 950
After a traumatic year with a 1200DVT I have bitten the bullet and bought a new 950 Multi. My first brand new bike since 1985! I got a reasonable deal and the 4 years warranty and breakdown cover helped me make the decision. I picked it up on Saturday. I have done 220 miles already and have to say I am impressed so far. Smooth engine, slick gearbox and nice handling. I saved the luggage from my 1200 and spent an enjoyable hour yesterday bolting it on. -
1098 Streetfighter.
Thought I would add a few pics of a recent purchase of mine.
It's a 2010 1098 streetfighter.
I was looking for an 'S', but they seem to be shooting up way out of my price range.
I found this one on Facebook market place, down near Shrewsbury.
Currently has 12,100 miles, and 2 owners.
It was originally white, but now has a Matt black wrap on it. My initial thought was to rip this straight off, but in the flesh, it kinda looks stealthy and not too bad. Going to leave it as is for now. May also rip it off at any mo.
A deal was done over the phone, and I shot down in the van to collect it.
I knew it had not been maintained well, and had Sat for a while.
Initial strip down confirmed this.
First job was to replace the belts, fitted some exact fit from the forum.
Oil&filter changed. Sump plug was very tight coming out, and does not sit straight on the sump. It's getting re-threaded next week.
New plugs fitted.
Air filter looked like it was the original, so replaced with a pipercross,...
