Tis A Funny Old World
Bought my new stead a Ufati 1250S D'air from Pro Twins at a fantastic deal.
All intense and purposes I was up to buy a 950S after all the good reviews from the latest model but after speaking to Brett initially and him showing me the 950S they had on a workbench being PDI'd for a lucky customer Brett at the shop not being pushy never even asked for my number although they did know me from when I worked for Dobles Honda and via a good friend who they sponsored.
Anyway to cut a long story short, I viewed the bikes in Chelmsford Ducati who as nice as they were were only talking full retail for everything even though I had been trade etc so knocked that on the head...
I made a few calls and was offered a good deal, or so I thought for a 950S with heated grips and the first service thrown in and would even deliver it free but that had to be in that new funky white greyish GP colour which I was not so keen on. I emailed Brett to say what I had been offered and he had said he could work... -
996 First Ride
So i collected the 996 yesterday, the weather was bloody awful so i collected it in my trailer, put it to bed in its nice cosy garage, along with my other non ducati bikes (vfr 800 & 2 636 track bikes)
Up this morning and checked the weather forecast, sun coming out this afternoon, roads drying, couldn't wait!!!! Got a track day booked on Tuesday, so passed the morning by changing oil & filters on both track bikes, quick check over and before i new it it was 2 o'clock.
Wheeled the 996 out of the garage, got changed into the leathers and fired it up.
OMG she sounds amazing, the wait for it to warm up seemed to take ages..........and off we went!
A brisk little 80 mile jaunt and what can i say except......OMFG...........what everyone tells you is correct. Absolute pig in town and traffic, but get it out on the road and i can't describe the fun.
Silky smooth, turns so quick, light and so nimble. And she goes well......all the way up to 70mph obviously!

G'day From Lockdown
G'day all,
Currently living in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia which is under a hard lockdown (a nation-first curfew was lifted just days ago!) and loving life, as you do.
Currently ride an S1000RR which I've had for about 3 years, but that 'new' Panigale V2 has caught my attention in more ways than one.
Looking to give one a test ride or two once we're allowed out and see what the future holds...would be my first Ducati so have signed up to the forums to get a bit more familiar and learn as much as I can.
Hopefully the photos have worked; the current bike and a fantastic day at the island (the weather was especially superb that day). -

P*ssed Off To The Picos
I went for the last Bank Holiday ride out and thought feck, this could be the end of the riding year!
So I went back home and booked a ferry for a week in Spain. I can't spell Quar..tine...
This was my morning view.
And this was my morning pal.
A 2 month old St Bernard with the run of the hotel del Oso in Cosgaya.
My week was a mixture of mountains and coasts.
I think another return is on the cards - but next year.
It felt great to have escaped this covid crap, although it has got worse back home on my return -
Wales Blast
Heyup Guys,
Had a scoot into Wales on Sunday, 27.09.20, before the place may be lockdowned again. I was hoping to meet a mate at Bala who had just bought a new Triumph Rocket 3 to accompany his X Diavel. He wasnt there, however a few of me other Duc pals were. Col, on his V4 Streetfighter, and Frank n Graham on their Multistradas.
Tagged along with them to Barmouth, quick pitstop for a stretch and coffee by the harbour. Then onto the bike stop at Betwys, over the hills, deffo one of the most sublime pieces of tarmac in Wales imo, designed by a biking god for sure. The V4 sounded utterly ridiculous over there, especially with the £4.5k Akra system on it, the overun and change ups producing some lovely pops. The multi lads had already said they weren't stopping, but me and Col stopped and had a quick coffee on the platform before heading home.
A really good day overall, good roads, scenery and company. Even though it was bright sun all day, you could feel the Autumnal... -

Should Of Bought One Years Ago
Have been grunting and groaning working on the floor with the bikes for too long and the old bones have cried enough.
Picked this up today and only had the bike up for an hour and oh what joy, no more involuntary groaning when trying to get off the floor.

Patronising (motorcycling) Celebs
In the current climate id say most of us are skint....my own build has literally no budget....i just do stuff when i can....then you read puff pieces on motorycling tabloids like MCN pushing electric stuff...personally ive got no problem with electric....its just, sorry its too fucking expensive...and moreso for cars! (all of them seem to omit that nugget of information)

"I always felt that there would be three Long Ways but life got in the way," says Ewan. "Our lives have changed so much since our last trip, Long Way Down, which was filmed in 2007. We, along with Dave and Russ, all have kids, many of who are going vegan and they talk about sustainability and are quite attuned to what’s going on with our planet. As a result my house in LA has solar panels and I’ve had my 1954 'oval window' VW Beetle converted to electric."
Yeah Ewan.....ill remember to get my antique car converted to electric...dont worry - i wont... -
916 Engine Restoration
Good day all,
Not long bought my first 916 and have decided to give it the full makeover.. This thread will just cover the engine restoration, which will be undertaken by myself and this is probably the biggest engineering challenge I have ever taken on and my first engine strip down and rebuild! Could go disastrously wrong!!
My plan is to do it as cheaply as possible and as much as possible by myself, not sure if I'm just dreaming and will have to admit defeat and let the professionals takeover.
Today's jobs were to fix the engine to the engine stand and remove the timing belts, heads and alternator cover.. -
Ducati Fan From Belgium
Hi all!
I'm OlliFromBelgium
I've joined this forum because it seems like an active place full of Ducati fans!
I'm 25 y/o and live in the Gent area in Belgium.
Big fan of cars, motorcycles and wristwatches
I work for Ducati for a living and own my own car/ motorcycle cleaning company.
I've been detailing for 6 years now what started as a hobby to maintain my cars (I'm a huge BMW fan) and I'm 3 years independent for the moment.
Here's a picture of me in the showroom. Glad meeting you all and one day - if someone does a roadtrip through Belgium - feel free to hop by and have a coffee! -
British Superbike School Levels 1 & 3 At Blyton Circuit, Lincs
My 18 year old son and I did their course yesterday.
He is a year into riding an L-plate 125 but only 2 months into riding a geared bike as I made him spend his first year's riding on a twist and go in order to build road sense, but he's had a few close calls recently due to what can broadly be characterised as target fixation. Hence, I signed him up for Level 1 and hired an R6 for him. As he only has a provisional licence he had to have 1 - 1 coaching while I was going to be being coached along with another Level 2 student. The track time was organised into 15 minute sessions of 4 mixed groups with riders from every level and their coaches within that group, so I happened to find myself on track at the same time as my son, although we were obviously with different coaches (hence no pics of us on track at the moment until the track photographer updates the gallery).
There are 3 Levels: 1 for novices, 2 for more experienced track riders and 3 for riders with a lot of track... -

F.b. Mondial 200 Extra Lusso
Hi all!
Decided to give up lurking here for a bit, and actually post something.
A couple of months ago, a mate called me up and asked if I wanted to go to the preview day at Bonhams in Bicester for the sale of the Morbidelli collection. This was as a result of the closure of Giancarlo Morbidelli's motorcycle museum, and meant that there would be around 200 mainly small Italian bikes coming up for auction.
Now, I am not in need of another bike, and I was only going to go with my mate to have a look, and perhaps dissuade him from parting with his hard earned in order to aquire some more old junk... There were rows of bikes in all sorts of conditions, from immaculate, to basket case, many were the sort of thing that I had never heard of before, let alone seen. There were plenty of the more common Italian makes, but I just like the sort of things that no one else has got. The viewing was on the Wednesday, then the auction lots were selling in an online feed on Saturday and... -
