Repairing Cracked Off Fins
Air cooled engines, especially older ones, often suffer from fins cracked off the heads and barrels - maybe from crash damage, maybe from ham-fisted mechanicing. Repairing them is not easy, but highly desirable.
Today I collected a Moto Guzzi Le Mans head which had the fins welded up yesterday. The job has been done rapidly, efficiently, and as far as I can see effectively.

Moto Giro D'italia Anyone Going?
Hi All,
Sorry, wasn't sure where to post this so Moderator please feel free to move.
I've recently finished restoring (are they ever fimished!) A Ducati 175TS single from 1959, with a view to ticking off a long held 'Bucket List' dream of riding such a bike in the Moto Giro d'Italia next year.
I'm also a member of the Motoscrubs Ducati Singles Forum and as of a few days ago the DOCGB, as it was suggested that there were quite a few guys in the club who went to the event.
Long story short, basically the DOCGB seems to have been a bit of a waste of cash, as their forum is like a ghost town. All the action seems to be on the DOCGB Facebook Group, which is free! Unfortunately, I don't really 'do' FaceTweet or whatever, so was just fishing to see if there was anyone on here that has done the Giro?
I'm basically looking for info on the most economical way to ship the bike out there next year and am given to understand that sometimes a group of entrants club together to make costs... -
Ducati Celebrates The 25th Anniversary Of The 916 With A Limited-edition Panigale V4
Only five hundred individually numbered 'Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916' bikes will be built
The unveiling, to take place on Friday 12 July during this weekend's American round of the Superbike championship at Laguna Seca, will be attended by four times world champion Carl Fogarty
Aruba.it Racing – Ducati team riders Álvaro Bautista and Chaz Davies will compete on bikes with a special livery inspired by the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916
Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 10 July 2019 – It's twenty-five years since the Ducati 916 made its first appearance. A bike destined to transform the world of motorcycle design and to make fans all over the world fall in love. The 916 was uniquely stylish, elegant, light and technologically innovative: a true pillar of Made in Italy motorcycles.
To celebrate this key anniversary, Ducati will present the Panigale V4 25° Anniversario 916. This limited edition will consist of only 500 individually numbered bikes and will sport an original... -
For Sale Panigale 1199r Track Bike
Hi Guys,
I'm considering putting my 1199R track bike up for sale. Its a 2014 model that was built from a cat D bike. Almost all of the damage was cosmetic, the only remaining legacy of it's accident is a broken lockstop on the lower yoke (it now has fork travel stops mounted on the forks instead as the original stops seem to have been formed from cheese!) I have pictures in it's pre-repair condition available as well.
Less than 5k miles, I've only done 1 trackday since building it a couple of years ago but since then my Missus has been through the 'cancer hell' that sadly seems all too common nowadays and now she worries herself sick at the thought of me going on track as she doesn't think she'd cope if I crocked myself. So instead I've bought a 45 year old Alfa coupe (in keeping with the red & Italian theme!) that we both can enjoy together rather than me tearing around a track on my own.

Gofundme Fundraising Page Created In Honor Of Carlin Dunne
Ducati North America and Pikes Peak International Hill Climb create GoFundMe account to support mother of Carlin Dunne following his passing
Mountain View, Calif., Wednesday July 3, 2019 – Following the tragic death of the Spider Grips Ducati motorcycle rider on June 30, 2019 while racing at The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, Ducati North America and The Broadmoor Pikes Peak International Hill Climb have created a GoFundMe online fundraising account to support Carlin’s mother, Romie, during this difficult time. His loss is felt throughout the international motorcycling and racing community.
Carlin was a 4-time champion of the Hill Climb, won Rookie of the Year in 2011 and broke the 10-minute barrier the following year, setting a new course record that stood for five years. He then selflessly volunteered two race seasons as part of Ducati’s Squadra Alpina Team, with the Race Smart program, mentoring rookie riders as they first came to race the mountain. Carlin... -
916 Back On The Road After A Little Rest!
Decided to get the Strada back on the road this year before I'm too old and knackered to ride the old girl.
It's been sat at the back of the garage for the last 5 years and only did 200 miles in the last year I had it on the road.
Fortunately it had a big service just before it came off the road so needed less work than you'd expect to get back on the road, a fresh battery, a set of tyres (old ones not worn out but I never really liked them) and a trip to Rich at Moto-R for a small service, set of belts and a good check over.
Fetched it back last night and went for a 60 mile shake down only to discover the bike had survived better than me! (could be the reason I ride a Multistrada these days)
The 916 performed as good as it always did but the riding position was a bit of a shock after a few years on the Multi so I don't suppose I'll use it a lot but it will get a few runs out this year. -

Hello From Ca
A friend on Ducati.ms recommended this forum and thank you for the welcome message.
Attached is a photo of my long time love. As you can see she is no museum piece, we give each other as good as we get on track days.
She is in for superficial repairs and then I'll be looking for a new front if I can afford it while I'm waiting for the shoulder to mend.
Anyway, nice to be here! -
Tragic Accident At Pikes Peak
Carlin Dunne, Ducati Team Spider Grips driver falls just a few meters before the finish line, after having dominated the first three sessions of the race and ready to set the new record.
This is the official announcement from the race organizers.
Colorado Springs, Colorado (US), 30 June 2019 – The collective hearts of the Colorado Springs community and the Board of Directors of The Pikes Peak International Hill Climb, along with Ducati North America, share the grief and pain of Carlin Dunne’s family, friends and fans over his untimely death.
“Throughout the 97 years that this unique race has been conducted on America's Mountain, we have experienced the ultimate joy in victory, the disappointment of failure and now, the unexpected heartbreak of the loss of a competitor, whose love of the race brought him to Pikes Peak. We mourn the tragic death of Carlin and he will remain in our hearts forever as part of the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb family. Carlin will be remembered as... -
Bought Myself A V4...
.....Tuono V4 Factory.
A little bit of an impulse purchase, saw it last Saturday left a dipper, took it for a test ride on Monday and just had to buy it.
2017 model with all its bells and whistles, the noise is intoxicating and the way it goes could give the Pani a serious run for its money. -
My Pyrenees/ Northern Spain Tour
Got back yesterday from my 10 day tour of the Pyrenees and North East Spain. A two day ride from Caen down to Pau. Over the Pyrenees, I then headed east to La Seu d'Urgell towards Andora, A lot of that bit on the wonderful N260. Then south and on towards Zaragoza, from there Ainsa and Huesca. Then Burgos and up to a bit of the Picos and boat home from Santander. Only about four hours of rain on the whole trip. For the Llieda area I thoroughly recommend Moturisme, they have a web site. They have a brochure/map showing some fantastic routes and approved biker hotels. Just under 2000 miles and for me it was always going to be the proper test of my 1260s and it passed with flying colours, didn't miss a beat and the perfect bike for the trip. Here are a few pics -

999 Got Myself A 999s
After selling my M797 a few months ago I soon realized I needed another Ducati in my life.
Picked this one up a couple of weeks ago, not a minter but not too shabby either.
It's a genuine 2003 mono with just short of 14.5 k on the clock. Has a mish mash of fairings on which I will get back to original as time and money allows.
I have just fitted the Exact start cable kit (thanks Exige), more as a precaution really as it wasn't too bad before.
Had it valeted when it arrived....
Here's a few more pics (with the bins)...

S2r1000
I have just bought this lovely S2R1000 Monster, it is a 2005 bike with just 10k miles. I had one before and regretted selling it so was delighted when this one popped up on Ebay at a good price.
A big thank you to Carl @I'mclosingin for collecting it from The Wirral and then delivering it to me in Bedfordshire, it was good to meet both you and Debbie.
Anyway, here are some pics including the obligatory bin shot for Dave :- -
Hopefully Nailed Our Little Ebay Fraudster...
The ebay fraudster who would post adverts of bikes that didn’t even exist with start prices of 99p and in the description either saying he was selling them on behalf of his brother or a friend etc etc. He always said in the description do not bid for the listing but e mail him direct..
Many of us frustrated by his actions reported him via the report option on the listing only to find yes, the listing taken down only for him to put the same adverts up again the next day..
Last week he had 21 adverts all saying exactly the same in a row under “ Ducati for sale”
On e bay ..
I decided enough was enough and phoned ebay eventually getting through to their fraud dept. I told them that many Ducati enthusiast are boycotting their site now as they are totally fed up of the fraudulent listings etc and are avoiding the site because of it.. At first I was told that they were aware of such issues. However when I said how we had all reported this chap only for the listings to reappear the... -
Great Service From Jamie Clare
I had the pleasure of using @Jamie Clare for a one off CNC part.
He gave an honest price and was delivered within a short lead time.
Being a time served toolmaker, I can say the quality and accuracy is very good.
It fitted spot on and would not hesitate to use his services again or recommend to others wanting any parts made.
If you need something made, contact him for a great service.deleteduser211220 Jun 18, 2019 Ducati General Discussion Read More Views: 3,008 Likes: 11 Replies: 26 -

Hello
I have joined the forum after visiting for some weeks.
I spent nine years in France before returning to the UK. Presently, I live in the Newark (Notts) area.
I have my first Ducati and it is a SS1000DS.
I thought hard about wether to go for a 900SS or 1000DS . I preferred the earlier fairing shape to the later type.
Anyway, I chose to go for the 1000DS as the engine seemed to be the pinnacle of the air cooled two valve SS. So specification over looks, although my bike is grey and the excesses of curves in the fairing seem to be muted by the colour.
The bike is a handsome machine.
It has a sawn-off air box and Termignonis and is lazily quick.
That's a bit about me and mine.
