1260 1260 0ne Year On.
I've had my 1260s for one year now. Here are my thoughts on the bike-
General - I thought from day one that it's the best bike I have ever owned, and still think that.
Reliability - Has not missed a beat, totally reliable at 8,200 miles
Build Quality - Excellent. I ride all year and it still looks great. I always ACF 50 for the winter which helps.
Engine - Once loosened up after a 1000 or so miles it just got smoother and generally better.
Gearbox - A little difficult to find neutral early on but no problem after a few hundred miles.
Suspension - Skyhook say no more.
Power - Say no more!
Handling - Superb.
Comfort - Good riding position, although I added bar risers which sits me slightly more upright which suits me personally. I found the seat uncomfortable, it pushed me forward too much so I changed it for a Corbin - ride all day comfort.
Rideabilty - Only issue for me was the amount of free play in the throttle, which made the bike for me hard to ride smoothly on the initial on... -
New To The Forum!
Hello, I'm A new member to the forum! Ive used this forum a lot in the past to work on my 1098, and decided I would finally become a member with the purchase of my new hypermotard SP! I was encouraged to post pictures, so here are some of my two bikes and a friend's 19 Tuono Factory -
Hi From Northumberland
Hi All,
After a few years away from Ducati (MVs, Aprilia and JIL4) I’ve added this to the stable today. A well looked after 1098s with some tasteful additions including a lot of Carbon goodies plus a full termignoni system and ECU re map.
All original parts included, so a very happy bunny indeed. All servicing is up to date so some minor cosmetics and lot of cleaning and polishing prior to the TT in June.
Looks like there may be the usual Ohlins oil weep on one of the forks, which I’ll sort.
Any suggestions of practical modifications or suggestions greatly appreciated. -
Porsche Advice Required!
Hi!
In a fit of madness (they do seem to becoming more regular with age!) I just purchased a 964 cab (with approx 5k miles on the clock!) It has however stood for 25 years in a barn, the owner died, and the heirs weren't interested. It does need loads of parts, as the original owner was working on the car when he passed, mainly aesthetics at the moment (lots of interior pieces) but I've yet to get stuck into it!
I know there are a few porsche enthusiasts on here..so if anyone can recommend where to source parts from (both new and used) I would appreciate it!
Cheers
Grant
Oh..and can anyone recommend a porsche forum as good as a certain ducati one? -
1200 R It's New Bike Day!
First of all, I'm sorry for all the threads i've started. Everyone's been super helpful and I really appreciate it. There'll be more threads.. apologies in advance.
A few days ago I walked into a Ducati dealer to have my clutch looked at on my 848 Evo. The 848 is only my second motorbike, the first being a CBR600F which I crashed at Snetterton. I loved my Evo.. it satisfied all of my mid-life crisis cravings despite crushing my balls every time I hit a bump. In fact, I was planning on doing a 2000 mile tour of the Picos mountains in June on my 848.
As I waited for my bike to be looked at the salesman mentioned that the 2016 Monster R that was being worked on and which I had been admiring was actually for sale. It only had 800 miles on it. He sowed a seed. The next morning I phoned him and negotiated a trade in for my bike. A couple of days later I picked up the MonsterI'm so very very happy. My wife is insanely angry but it'll be worth it. This bike is everything I wanted!...

1198 Wow!
Had my first proper ride on my 1198S this morning since buying it at the beginning of last december, sunshine and warm dry roads have not been present for a while in my part of the world... anyway ,i have to say how impressed i am at the way the bike handles and sticks to a line, it somehow feels far more planted and stable in corners than my old T9 did and the stomp out of bends is truly staggering, i also have to say i was never really a fan of the 1098/1198 shape when it first arrived (maybe because i was enthralled by the look of my 999!), it seemed to me at the time as leaning too far towards Jap anonymity ,i even saw one in my car mirror once and mistook the front end for a Blade!...however opinions change with time and now when i open my garage door i'm confronted by a thing of pure beauty.
Some great roads near to me so i took the back road from Grantham heading for Bourne and linked up with the Melton road at Corby Glen, glorious fast open sweepers on smooth tarmac through... -

Ducati And Diavel 1260 At Milan Design Week With The “beautiful Boldness/visionary Design” Event
Ducati, Automobili Lamborghini, Pirelli, Zaha Hadid Design, Walter De Silva and Tom Dixon discuss beauty and audaciousness in design
The exclusive Diavel 1260 S Materico concept bike, specially built for the occasion, will remain on show at The Manzoni throughout Milan Design Week
Recent winner of the "Red Dot Award: Best of the Best", the new Diavel 1260 strengthens its style icon status
Borgo Panigale, Bologna / Milan, 10 April 2019 – A round table at Milan Design Week has given Ducati an opportunity to present the styling process that led to the birth of the new Diavel 1260 and share its passion for beauty and innovation in design with other major protagonists.
Design, and the 'personality' of its bikes, has always been a Ducati core value, as the company's participation in Milan Design Week clearly demonstrates. The powerful, beefy Diavel 1260 is emblematic of an audacious, visionary process, hence the Bologna-based bike manufacturer's "Beautiful Boldness/Visionary Design"... -

Might As Well Go Home Now Then!
Sitting outside my local Starbucks (3 miles from home) I always start my rides here of a weekend mulling over a copy of MCN, just had someone walk up and say “lovely bike mate, bet it sounds great, always wanted on of those”, so that’s it then, my work here is done, may as well go home?. -
1299 Finally ( And Rather Unexpectedly ) My 1299s Has Landed
Good Evening Dave’s
Yesterday I picked up my very first Ducati and obviously very First Panigale. A beautiful 2015 1299s
All happened a bit quick last week but delighted to finally have taken the plunge after 4 long years of waiting
Look forward to being able to join in now on the forum rather than just lurk, and maybe meet up with any Southern UK folk
One very happy Panigale owning Moose -
That Was A Nice Surprise...
I opened Practical Sportsbikes after it just dropped through the door and quickly opened it to see if Exact Fit belts had been mentioned having just had 2 orders going to MCN / PSB staff. Checked if Chris (Editor) had done an article on his belt change and mentioned our belts - but nothing there yet
Then found thisvery pleased...

My Favourite Place In The World...
Mine is Pravčická Brána in the North of the Czech Republic - this is shown on the opening sequence of the film 'The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe' but is listed as New Zealand in the credits, which it certainly isn't...

Another, Another Arai.
Following on from my thread of a couple of weeks ago about buying a Colin Edwards Arai helmet, I now only had 2 helemts in an eBay watch list which I've had going for years, a Steve Hislop and Nori Haga "Monza" replica. I thought "I'm safe for a while, it took me years to find the Edwards Laguna Seca, these 2 helmets never get listed in my size and mint condition"...........................A "Hizzy" appeared the same day.
"Bollocks"Never mind, all is not lost, it's probably a dog of a helmet, but I must make sure, you understand.
I contact the seller for info and more pictures. He's worn it twice, it's mint inside and out, with only 2 very, very minor marks on the rear where he caught it against his house wall.
How do I get out of this? ...............Right, I'm down that there London when the auction ends, I'll put Bidmate on the case with a bid far less than I've seen these go for in the past. I can't bid on it as I'm not near the computer,... -
