Spanish Bikers ...
Just got back from awesome trip to Spain .My misses booked a week on the Costa brava 50 miles north of Barcelona .So i decided to take the Streetfighter instead of flying.
Got off ferry at Bilbao and was heading towards Jaca ,but got really lost in Pamplona ,after an hour ,saw a biker in a petrol station so asked him how to get to Jaca ,he spoke no English i had even less Spanish ,but he got on the phone 10 minutes later another biker turned up ,and said follow us ,so they took me the twistie way all 80 miles of it to Jaca ,how awesome they were ,when we got there they turned back after pointing me to the N260 .
You can tour on a Streetfighter ,blokes on the ferry looked shocked when i told them i was doing 500 miles ,they were all on BMW GS and only doing half my mileage ,my bike was awesome . -

Scrambler Joyvolution: Lots More Fun In The Land Of Joy
Ducati presents the new Scrambler Icon, to go on sale from November
Even more fun, more comfortable and safer thanks to new electronics
Just four years on from the brand launch, more than 55,000 Ducati Scramblers have been sold worldwide
Borgo Panigale (Bologna, Italy), 10 September 2018 - The latest Ducati Scrambler makeover provides a bike that is now even more contemporary, comfortable and safe, taking ‘Land of Joy’ fun to new heights. Affordable and essential, the Ducati Scrambler is the perfect blend of tradition and innovativeness. Even in this latest 'Joyvolution' incarnation, it retains the pure essence of motorcycling: two wheels, a wide handlebar, a simple engine and endless fun. What's more, the new Bosch Cornering ABS maximises active safety during braking, adding an extra layer of untroubled freedom.
The Ducati Scrambler brand, launched in 2014 to 'speak a new motorcycling language', puts a modern-day slant on the ethos of the 1960s Scrambler. It's fair to say that... -

Finally... No Longer An Interloper
Having been on this forum for over two years and yet not owning a Ducati; today I put that right. To be fair, at the time of joining I was seriously considering a MTS 1200 DVT but got distracted by the MV Turismo. Despite a big hit financially on the trade in I don't regret that, was a great machine but the sum of the reasons to change gave me the excuse to get a 1260s
Collected today from DMC Stoke, thank you Simon. Nice ride back via a friend's in Bishops Castle. What a storming bike, this is going to be epic. -

Been Talking To Insurance Brokers
I have for many years resisted the trend to rely on the internet to get the most cost effective insurance cover, so with the renewal of my current multi bike policy due in the next few days and the imminent arrival of my V4 Speciale, I have spent a fair bit of time talking to brokers over the last few days. I would like to express my thanks to Scott at BeMoto for his time and openness, which quite frankly was refreshing. However, Paige at Ramasis (aka Ducati Insurance) has secured my business because she realised immediately that my current insurer would not cover the V4 on my multi bike policy and managed to find an underwriter offering an acceptable alternative. I’ve ended up paying about £100 more on the new multi bike policy for my current bikes but I can add the V4 at any time at a very reasonable additional cost. For good measure, they have also included breakdown recovery and replacement leathers and helmet cover free of charge. Went Out With Des Today
Got up this morning had a look at the weather forecast and it looked to be a decent day, if a little couldy.
As I'm on a bender next Saturday and off to Italy for a couple of weeks, the week after, this may be my last chace to have a Sunday out this year. Then I thought, Des hasn't seen the light of day for about 4 years, let's stretch his legs. Went online, got it taxed and ready for the off.
I thought I'd do one of my favourite runs and headed to God's biking country.
Had a stop over in Devil's Bridge, Kirby Lonsdale for a drink and cheeseburger. Did about 200 miles in total today, up through Penrith and back over Hartside Pass.
Took part in a multi choice quiz 3 times today. I chose 'Green' all 3 times and seem to have got it correct.
Got back home after about 5 hours, giving Des a good scrub.
The Labrador was out for a walk, so had to use my dog dryer at the end of the process.

V4 It Gets Better
Had V4s first service yesterday at DMC stoke and they fitted the akra for me, I thought that the bike was good with the standard exhaust but OMG the akra makes so much difference, it seems to run better and the noise on gear change is unreal, I wasnt expecting it, god bless the autoblipper just need to try to keep my licence now which is not going to be easy.. -
1995 916
What follows is less of a build/project, more of a rehab program for a bike that hasn't run in 11 years.
I posted a quick intro on the Newbie threads, but to give some background to my situation; I'm a kiwi that's recently emigrated to Ontario, Canada. Started riding at 15 and got my license on a '90 DT175 trail bike. Would take it to hills above the beach and let loose. Bought my first road bike at 17-an '88 VT250F. Most recent ride was an SV650S, a 70km round trip daily rider in sun, hail or rain.
Like some of you, the Ducati marque has haunted me ever since I saw a 916 outside a dealer one day over 20 years ago. Up close, it was the small things like the depth of the paint, the plunging contour of the tank just to access the ignition, even the Cagiva font was perfect for the time and place...
Fast foward to now, and I'm browsing Craigslist, when a very clean 95 Strada comes up (listed that day) with an asking price of only $US4250. Checked location: 5 hours drive away? Boom, in... -

For Sale Mark 1 Superlight
Hello forum, I've decided to sell my superlight. Date of first registration 16 06 1993. I bought the bike in 2009. It was in very poor condition with only 10000 miles on the clock. When I got it home I went over it and found lots and lots of faults. I dropped the oil out of it and noticed bits of aluminium in the oil, so complete engine strip and replace gallery plug. Also found the original Marvic wheels were cracked, replaced with standard brembos. Bought a new gallery plug from Baines racing, new crank main bearings etc. Also found the fuel tank was full of rust and filled with tank sealant. I found a mint condition tank off a later model on e bay.
Still got the original tank, was planning to get it refurbished but never got round to it. Decided to do a proper strip and rebuild IN 2014 to make it look mint. Full strip, frame powder coated welded and frame brace fitted. Wheels powder coated. Suspension refurbished.

1200 R Competition Werkes Exhaust
Always been a fan of the shorter exhausts which show off the rear wheel / single-sided swing-arm much better, so looked around.
Didn't want the noise of the stubby SC-Project (as it doesn't have a baffle), & the Austin Racing worked out too pricey.
In the end, went for the CW as an import, after a few mails to confirm it did actually fit the 1200R!
CW themselves were great, but they don't do international sales, so had to go via Houston S/B, who initially told me it didn't fit the R model....
Once they were persuaded, it duly arrived, & it certainly does fit, & it's not excessively loud with the baffle fitted. -
Newsreader Naga Munchetty Rides Pillion With Haslam
Watching the news this morning and they ran a little feature on her pillion ride with Ron. Apparently she bid for it in a charity auction after playing golf with Leon.
Top bird !
