916 Project
A mate and I had a daft idea of buying a cheap bike to work on together and stick on YouTube. We were looking at a 748 track bike that popped up on eBay (and on here in the eBay bikes thread) but lack of timely buy-in from SWMBO meant someone got to it before us. Luckily, it turned out (I think) as I came across an old post on Facebook marketplace relating to a 916 that hadn't started for about 8 years and the current owner was thinking of selling.
After a little research into what the bike actually was, a price was agreed and it came home with us in the van. It also came with an additional frame which will be used as it's currently on a Q plate. From what I can ascertain so far, the facts are as follows:
It has a 94 engine (unknown mileage) with P8 ECU and 94 swingarm. The bodywork is post 94 as is the tank + tank cap. Wheels are post 94 (no Ducati Racing lettering) and the bike was sprayed yellow at some point. The wiring is a mess and has been chopped about a little but... -

A quick preview of my latest flame shortly to join my little collection of T9's. Having covered just 1000kms from new and a complete overhaul prior to going on sale, this one is without a doubt, a keeper. -

I Must Be Old - Some Bikers/motorcyclists (but Not Bootsam) Are Starting To Look Stupid To Me.
Must confess perhaps it’s my age but a couple of times today I saw bikers on their pride and joys and for the first time really I thought to myself god, how sad are you..
Guy on a Kawasaki pulled up at the lights wobbling his way to the front of the Q blipping his throttle very loudly with his 4 into one pipe.. He wore full leathers with one of those multi coloured visors on iredium or something with the looking around as if to find admiring glances ( there were none) He pulled away really loud accelerating hard just to get stopped 50 yards ahead at the next set of lights where he went through it all again including revving the thing whilst looking down at the engine as if to spot some problem with it..
Ten mins later a DUCATI Scrambler pulled up, he wore jeans, leather boots but not motorcycle type, a hoodie backpack and open faced Matt black helmet with cop type shades.. bike sounded nice and he just took his time looking totally chilled .. I thought yes, I really thought my... -

Was at the Excel baby show today and glad to see that Ducati had a presence there to influence youngsters and the unborn. -
916 748r And 916sps
Sent both the bikes off to Mototechnica this week for their full services belts etc. The SPS needed fully setting up and TBs balancing, CO etc. Can’t beleive the difference, and those exact start leads too! Great mod.
Any excuse for some pics of the pair anyways -

New Tool To The Stable
Well the 1198 has gone as I was after something more town suited and something that doesn't cost a fortune to run. So been looking for ages and decided I fancied a 600 screemer again so here she is 2007 r6 bog standard (for now) 7k on the clock , full history. What great fun it is too. -

Changed The Bike.....again!
So a few years ago I got myself a scrambler icon,
a cracking little bike, enjoyed it then pxd it after 3 years for a monster 821, another nice bike which I chose after loving a 96 monster m600 many years ago. For some reason I just didn't bond with it and after a couple of 3/4 day tours on it I decided it wasn't for me, live n learn eh?
So over last few months I've been having a good think about which bike to px the monster in against, now when the monster went in for a service I was given a multistrada as a courtesy bike, I was super impressed which how it rode and that swayed my decision somewhat, so on Saturday I picked this beast up....
I've managed to put 200 miles on it on the weekend and am smitten! It's a beast, comfy and fully loaded with tech, I really can't wait to put some decent mileage on it!!! -
Yes, It Is A Monster.
I thought that I would file this in the Monster section, this is my 2007 695, dressed in some old clothes !. -
Foggy Petronas Fp1 Auction Today
I was working at Race Retro in Coventry for Silverstone Auctions on Thursday preparing a few cars for sale when the Foggy Petronas FP1 rolled in.
Up for Auction today with an estimate of £30-£35k. This particular model has only 7km from new. It's been over social media recently but I thought a few up close photos would be cool to share.
Definitely looked cool parked next to this 1976 Ferrari Dino 246GT Coupe, One of only 235 right hand drive Dinos of which only 3 or possibly 2 were in this colour. -
81 Mhr .. After 25 Years Its Time.
I've decided that its finally time for my 1981 MHR to see the road again, after spending 25 years being a big ornament. I restored it back in the early 90's, since when its sat in my living room, only moving a few feet when the room was decorated.
However, its been kept 'dry'.. no brake fluid in the brakes, no acid in the battery, no fuel in the tank, just fresh oil in the motor. Since the engine is kick start only, every few weeks over those years, I would kick it over as I walked past, just to keep things moving inside the engine. All of which should hopefully have helped preserve it. No doubt famous last words !
Its still sitting in my living room, and it'll be awhile before it can be moved. But I've made a start by removing the master cylinders and callipers, they'll be rebuilt with new seals and pistons if needed. I've also bought a pair of new Avon AM26 tyres and inner tubes, to replace its Pirelli Phantoms, even though they've got plenty of tread left, but then they are... -
My New Toy...
Picked up a 765 Street Triple RS today. Jeez after the S1000RR its is just so SOOOO comfortable. Its just like I remember my old 675 Striple R, but better in every department. Its smooth, torquey, revy, stops pretty good so far, well, I've only brought it home but the Brembos bite like hell, and the TFT dash is simply loveleh. Got a few nice extras on it as well, all I need now is some warmer weather and free weekends !!

A Happy Noods Caught Singing..
Up bright and early this morning and my bathroom was occupied by one of my two live inn HM service Au pairs.. Anyway I thought what can I do to keep happy pre meds? What do I really luv doing? Kylie immediately cum to mind ( singing obv) so I picked up my guitar and off I went.. Little did Noodles with a cold bunging up his nose know, but Au pair 2 or 1 had snuck up to the top floor of Noodle Towers , level 3, my room, and planted a phone there, hence recording me..
Anyway because my Twitter do-da thingy is ... #im’happy&idontgiveafuckwhoknowsit
I thought I will post it and dedicate it to my/our, but more mine than yours, DB for her luv support and endless help..

848 Updated.. What Do You Buy A 10 Year Old 848 For Its Birthday (& How Much Power Does It Make?)
I finally clicked with the bike after doing half a dozen trackdays last year. It’s an ‘08 848 and came to me a bit track ready (fairings, EVR slipper clutch, quickshifter, rearsets and a couple of other little bits and bobs).
It was great but felt a bit slow to turn. Taking sage advice (experienced friend rode it and said it was ‘like a plank’) I decided to get the suspension done. I’ve never had suspension set up for my weight and always wanted to try it. Spoke to the helpful guys at HM Racing and decided on fork service with new pistons, springs and a new shock.
That was the start of the slippery slope. I’d been somewhat unnerved by flapping bars over the rise after Surtees at Brands, so wanted a steering damper. But that’s not straightforward on the first 848s, there’s no thread in the headstock or mount on the frame (and I don’t like those ones that mount on the fork top). But if you spend enough time on the internet.. you can find and import a special bracket from the US and...
