Hi everybody, I have started to gather some parts for my 748 reinstatement, new battery and some Metzelers have arrived,
Hopefully come next month we can get back on the road.
I bought it in 2002 for £7250 and its been stashed for years as I bought a Hypermotard but kept it .
Its time has arrived.

Took the R for a first ride, impressions:

Stiff, feels like a race bike, so direct, no slop anywhere.

Engine is bonkers at top end, too fast for road use!

Steering is fast and light but feels planted with it.

Gearbox better using the QS than with clutch both up and down, impressed.

Lovely noise, not too loud

Beautiful

Brakes seem a bit weak, not sure why. Pads have a lot of meat on them, probably original.

So slim, that's why I love the V-twins

Can't see me really stretching it's legs until Cadwell in June.

Insane heat from the exhaust on my right leg

Each part of it seems so well designed and integrated, lovely attention to detail.

Happy with it so far!

My mates take the piss...but if Lamborghinis can use ski-boxes...

(In all seriousness, an extremely practical way to tour... the Givi Monolock plate is bolted directly to a spare rear seat so I can remove the whole lot easily. )

Edit...It's just occurred to me that this arrangement isn't possible on a Desmosedici...

The big desmo service was completed at 14,384 miles by Paul at PG Performance. It has a full-service history. An annual service was completed on the 27th April and now has an MoT for 12 months. 2 new Rosso Corse IV's have been fitted. Ready to ride for summer. Book pack, 2 keys and tools.

I am Vic and I have just bought my first Ducati, a rather nice Desert Sled 803 and at the ripe age of 63 and having returned to the Motorcycle scene after a small hicup of 22 years. It is a fine steed indeed and I am looking forward to a long and pleasant relationship with it. As yet there is no name associated with the beast but I am sure one will emerge from ownership.

Been a dormant member for a while, just upgraded to premium, enjoying the forum.

I've decided to sell my yellow 1994 mk3 900sl #680. Owned by myself since 2016 and guy before from 2001.
Has had dreaded cylinder head bolts replaced this year, along with piston ring ,chain + sprocket set & fully desmo service, new battery. (£2,200 bill)
Mileage is 27600 (did 100 miles today), has cut airbox mod with period carbon cans. Huge history file with MCN advert from 2001 when previous owner acquired bike, 2 keys, ventura luggage.
Mot due May 20th which I'll get done for a buyer, they normally flag fully floating rotors up as advisory but they also do that on my sps which are less than 1000km old !
Really sorry to see it go but want a mile muncher/sports touring bike in my life.
It's in very good 'rider condition ' unrestored condition.

So i have been on the forum a couple of years with my 1299s and the bike was amazing and apart from the cracked dash it was faultless really.

I have moved to a V4 but thought i might try another italian steed for now. couldn't resist the sound of these things and for me the best sounding bike out there still.

i will be around on here still, it is a great forum to be with.

I know I'm a bit biased as there's a fair chunk of cash (to me anyway!) involved in buying one of these so it needs to be good. I had such a good day at Cadwell yesterday, it's a bit heavy, embarrassingly quiet noise test (91db), ground clearance is a bit of an issue and it needs another gear, but for a bike that can then comfortably tour Scotland (or anywhere else), as it is in May/ June, it is truly astounding on track. I never really would have believed that an adventure/ touring or whatever you want to label it as bike could make a tyre look similar to a 200hp sports bike. Also during the day 4 people asked if they could take a photo of it as they hadn't seen one in the flesh before.
It really is a very good bike.

I wanted to create this post as a bit of a story given my experience and hopefully reach out to others who may also find them selves curious about ADHD or similar.

3 years ago I abruptly ended my almost 2 decade long drinking binge, it was innocent for a while but towards the end, not so much. I quit and moved to marijuana and only smoked at set times as it really helped calm me down and instead of getting drunk, I just became a little goofy. Life was on the up!

Fast forward 2 years after quitting, things were not right, my work was becoming harder to complete, my focus and moods were all over the place and I just couldn't keep my brain engaged. My wife then said enough is enough, go get bloody checked as she had her suspicions for a while that I had a broken noggin.

Just collected today, moved the bars back, position feels spot on.
MRA screen installed, gone for clear. Did not want to dominate the looks of the bike. Not tested yet, started to piss down the moment I tightened the last fixing! Used MRA before on an S1r and it worked great for removing a huge amount of air blast and not causing any buffeting. Will report back once this one is tested.
Damp patches on the way back so steady away on the new tyres/bike. It already feels ‘just right’ though. Cant imagine anything more than a decent steering damper being added, if it has the usual KTM lively front end .

Took the Multistrada to OYB Aylesbury for a major service, all booked in and courtesy bike arranged.
A Kawasaki Versus, 650 adventure bike, apparently.
Riding it home I tried really hard to be objective, fair and non judgemental.
Getting off a Multistrada and onto this was like night and day.
I know there's a massive gulf in value, and specification, but I really struggled to find any redeeming features, it will suit somebodys needs, it got me home safely, that's about it.
It made me appreciate my bike, the make, the model, the equipment, the ride.
I test rode the Triumph, The KTM, and the Ducati, before I bought mine, no comparison.
If you ride a Ducati you will probably feel the way I do, you made the right choice.
Don't worry, be happy.

I’ve been thinking about a new road bike for a while now and test rode the Diavel V4 and Streetfighter V4S last summer. Both bikes were amazing but the prices were pitting me off a bit.

in the end I’ve ended up going for this - Brand new 1290 Superduke R with a 4 year warranty from KTM and £3k off the list price.
Haven’t seen it yet as it’s been delivered while at work and hence the lack of pictures. Bring on the decent weather!

How easy is it to register Belgian bike in UK?

Hi all. Been around bikes since I was 13. Just over 50 years later I’ve worked up to Ducati! Had a few different Italian bikes. I enjoy my garage time as much as my riding. Just done a belt and valve service on my first desmo engine. Just took my time, read up throughly and all went well. Looking forward to plenty tech talk with you guys. Cheers all around!

that 748/916 look is still the most beautiful bike ever made imho. it might even outshine my aprilia rs250 in the looks department.

I'd been keeping an eye out for a absolute minter at sensible money. wasn't too fussed which cc at the time. I do have a soft spot for the 748 engine.

anyways this 748 popped up. was a non runner in great condition. all the plating on the bolts is lovely. all the paint is still where it should be on the engine cases too.

was so excited collecting it. like a kid at Christmas again.

the bike had recently been serviced (belts done too) but had cut out whilst riding and the seller didn't have the funds to sort it.

loaded her up and took the slowest drive home to be sure not to break it.

got her home. fairings off. there was a radiator clip entirely missing ! power of god must have been keeping it in place!

Hi all. Just wanted to flag this up to forum members. Bought this gorgeous bike from a fellow member nearly three years ago but new acquisitions (V4RS) mean it’s time to move this one on.

Stunning Ducati Sport Classic in beautiful condition. £18,500. 2007, 6300 miles and three previous owners before I acquired it three years ago. The bike has been carefully and extensively modified and improved over standard but comes with all original equipment to return to stock if desired. Service history (including regular, documented belt changes) and just had another full belt and fluids service by renowned Ducati specialist, Glen Harrison at Moto-V (who loves and will testify for the bike). MOT till June but happy to put another year on it.

Modifications include classic lightweight Kineo wire spoked wheels.

Suspension is Ohlins twin rear shocks, Showa fully adjustable Monster forks revalved by and using K Tech parts and the steering damper has been upgraded to an Ohlins unit.
