1260 1260 Vs '15 Dvt - Back-to-back
Picked up my 1260S Touring in white on Friday morning. Have only done 100 miles but thought I'd share my initial findings, much of which you probably have already have read about,
The display - big improvement, both in terms of readability and also the user interface. I never had a problem with the old screen but the new one is noticeably clearer. The interface is much more representative of a modern bike and not so much an 8-bit games console. Animated sequences on things like gear changes, display options, etc, is a nice touch.
Heated grips - a very noticeable improvement. On Friday it was +3c when I picked up my 1260. Once I got going I actually felt the need to lower the power to medium as my hands started to get a bit clammy inside my Dainese Scout Evo gloves. My hands were toasty, whereas the old DVT when it was approaching 0 degrees C you struggled to be able to tell if they were even on.
Gearbox - The quickshift is a little quirky compared to others I've used. If you... -

I Just Bought A Ducati :-)
An Ex Corse backed National Championship winner that used to look like this...(No 65)
and now looks like this after being totally rebuilt to as new condition by a Danish Dealer / Owner...
I will however put another set of race body work back to it's Glory Days as I feel this is only right.
A new bike - Norwegian Championship winner from a Danish Dealer secured when in the office of a Swedish owned company where I work and a new Finish biker chick girlfriend all in the same week - life is sometimes very very strange indeed and full of ups and downs, but this particular 'up' ................ I like it a lot -

Audi Tt S Line - Newish Car Detail
2 day detail. Black Audi TT.....6000 miles on clock and had been washed at the local polish wash and scratch....covered in swirls and wash marring and deep marks from a drying blade. Full interior clinical cleanse and all surfaces treated to Gtechniq interior protection package, leather, trim and fabric. All exterior glass coated - x 2 to windscreen. Clearcoat on this thing was like something from the planet Krypton...hard as nails!!....13 hours alone just machine correction - protection in the form of nanocoat ( Liquid Wurtzite Boron Nitride )....x 2 coats and vehicle left overnight undercover on 2nd night for nanocoat to fully cure....wheels deep cleansed and coated with Liquid Crystal. Sorry for the below par images but time was really against me on this one given the hardness of the clearcoat...customer was speechless.....and another one added to my bi-weekly maintenance package. -
Rob Lewis = Top Man
I would like to personally thank vehicle detailer Rob Lewis for giving up his time for me earlier. After randomly messaging him on this forum with a question regarding the paint work on my 899, he quickly replied to me requesting I gave him a call as he could explain things to me in detail easier over the phone. Rob was a really pleasant guy, who was in no rush and explained to me about the issue I had and the products I could use to help resolve my issue. He couldn’t have been more kind, helpful and friendly! I would like to wish him all the best in his detailing/valeting business and look forward to seeing future threads on his detailing work.
Just goes to show how many people there are in this forum who are willing to help others when in need!
Thanks again and all the best! -
Finally...ducati In The Shed.
Hi all...after thinking of getting a 'Duc' for a looooong time, I finally pushed the button and picked up this half-faired 900SS. I've been hankering after a Sports Classic but the prices on those are out of my league, so when this popped up I had to have it. Love the white frame and 'engine out' look of this bike. It's now been treated to an open clutch cover with Ducabike plate, caps and springs. I've also fitted a set of Exiges finest cables, now fires up like a good 'un! Just after a set of high-level carbon cans for it now.
Sorry about the lack of bins in the pic...must do better! -
848 848 Evo Back From Italia Moto And Happy!
Hey all, I have purchased a few bits and bobs from people on this forum over the last 6 months and finally got the bike back from Italia Moto today. It’s dry so managed a quick 30 miles just to give it a go. What a difference! In a nutshell I have had plenty of carbon goodies fitted but main things the ECU flashed by a forum member, 02 sensors removed, exhaust servo removed, dropped to a 14t sprocket, sprint air filter, the ohlins ttx rear and correct spring fitted. A different bike. Thanks all that supplied parts and advice, and Italia Moto for fantastic sevice -
For Sale My 1098s With Numerous R Parts
Only for sale due to new Ducati V4S order.
This 2007 1098S is a great bike. It came from the Sales Manager at Snell (Bryan) last July who had owned it and cherished virtually from new. It is currently fitted with full Xerox period livery and comes with a full set of OEM 1098S fairings/cowl and 1 piece Carbon undertray (very rare) It has carbon rear mudguard, front mudguard, exhaust covers, heal guards, clutch cover, dash set and so on.
It also has the R hand made alloy tank (£2500) and the R Carbon Fibre mono seat. We have fitted the TOCE 4 piece rear slash cans which sound and look lovely, we have the OEM cans in their original box too! It has numerous other parts/spares. Now with 8300 miles on her and brand new gold centred Brembo front discs (£500 fitted) she is a really first class Ducati wanting for nothing.

Pete Boast Flat Track School Mega Day Out
Brilliant day in Lincolnshire yesterday, can't wait to go back, cannot emphasise enough how much faster it feels and how physically demanding I found it, learned so much, the patience shown by the instructors I never felt pressured considering I'm new back on a bike again, everbody benefited from yesterday, one other thing it doesn't look a big arena but it feels plenty big, if it's good enough for Hickman, plater, Martin, boast etc etc honestly 100% recommend this no matter what your level...smiles everywhere. -
Arquebus Update
I'm sure that many of you realise that AL/Arquebus has not been on the forum for a while now. A number of reasons for that but the main one being that he was subject to some trolling at the time, which wasn't deserved and to compound that he's not been very well of late.
Anyway, like many on here I like AL a lot and have a lot of time for him. He was very insightful on many occasions and spotted some issues that either I'd not seen or hadn't realised the seriousness of (some of you will know what I am talking about here and apologies for those that don't, but I'm not at liberty to expand on that).
I have been in fairly regular contact over the past few weeks and months and though things did seem a tad desperate over Xmas things seem to and hopefully have improved though it's still not perfect.
I've tried to entice him back to the fold and I've just received this..........
"As I said, I doubt if I will come back , although I will be happy to see any of ‘my mates’ if we ever... -
939 Hyperstrada I've Bought A Bike For A Ride To Italy
I'm off to Italy in September with a group of friends, 10 in total. It should be a good trip, leisurely, taking in some of the famous Alpine passes on the way there and back. It totals 10 days with a couple of days staying in Venice and a trip to the Ducati museum.
But what to take? The only thing I have that I could practiably do the trip on is the Streetfighter S, but it wouldn't be ideal. I haven't yet reached the ripe old age where I'm considering joining the pipe and slippers brigade and going for a full tourer.
My criteria was -
Practical
Reasonably comfortable
Flickable for the Alpine passes
Decent value for money, around £5k if possible, maybe a little more.
Will take luggage
Would be a bonus if I could use it for things other than my holiday. Maybe for a little weekend hoon-a-ry.
Being a Ducatiwasn't a prerequisite, but it'd be nice.
So I looked at Tuonos, Monsters, 848 Streetfighters, various Japanese... -

Baby Pani Does Cartagena
@bradders
This wee bike is great tbh.
I appreciate this example has had coin invested in suspension and been on a diet, but all the reviews where words like "rail" and "nimble" are spot on. Usually I'll get off a bike and there's something that needs sorting, ie turn in, mid-corner wrestle, runs wide, etc etc. I jumped off this and it just does the biz. Read the internet and previous Ducati's seemed to need different yokes, longer swing arms, flat rockers etc to make 'em work on track, the Pani, just appears to do the do, at least at my very humble level.
Power is probably subjective, for me there's plenty, it delivers it in a very manageable and liner manner, the hybrid MTS engineed bike is ace, with your typical/lovable Ducati mid-range boom box.
Cartagena is probably not the best circuit to make a like for like comparison power wise, however it's certainly not a slow bike and palpably faster than an 848.
Bad bits;
Vibby pegs - possibly due to the proximity to the exhaust.

Although promised for February, my little bit of luxury birthday present to me arrived today. Omega 15000 Gauss with crocodile leather strap instead of the ss bracelet/beige leather strap. Really pleased and it was reduced in the sale - bargain. Andy
