1098 1098 R Restoration
Some of you may remember that I've had a successful year winning the Hungarian 1000cc Open Championship with my 1098R. At times, actually most of the time I felt like I was David fighting the Goliaths that are much newer BMW 1000RRs, Suzuki GSXR-1000s and Kawasaki ZX10Rs but even though my bike was almost 10 years old it was still competitive. It pulls like a train onto fast straights, better than a Pannigale 1299S in that regard and I could outbreak absolutely everybody else in the championship so they can keep their ABS ;-)
But now it's the end of the season and time to strip the bike down, fix anything that needs fixing, clean everything meticulously and reassemble ready for a new owner. The work is being done by my crew chief Malcolm Ashley who used to race Ducatis in BSB some years ago. Malcolm is a perfectionist and we are going to take photos along the way to record the work.
Here was the bike earlier this year at a practice session where I was trouble shooting various... -
For Sale Ducati 996 Sps
Ok, so after the SP2 found a new home, it is time to do the same for the SPS.
1999, and as far as I can see completely standard.
2,500 miles (only 200 done in the last 3 years) MOT history backs this up.
Kept either in the garage or dining room (depending if I have a girlfriend or not at the time......)
Looks to have never had paint, original excellent plastics.
Not "as new" like some may claim but truly excellent condition.
No issues.
Regularly started and warmed up but I suppose it would need a belt service and tyres if the intention was to use it as intended.
2 previous keepers, the first keeper had the bike until 2014 and although was kept in storage unfortunately the original service book was lost (believable tragic end, same thing happened with the Honda SP2).
Adam at V-Duo recommissioned the bike, which was then sold to someone who only had the bike for 9 months.
The bike was then back in V-Duo when I bought it in Jan 2015.
Spare key and (from 2014) service book... -

Too Old? Naahh!
I have been thinking of selling my 2005 999s I have had from new as I thought I was getting too old to be riding around on such a vehicle. Contemplating what to exchange it for and looking everywhere on the Net. for inspiration, I stumbled across this forum page. Well, after a few reads of what people had posted and reading Jon Urry's piece on the 999s I now know I must keep it!
Well done Ducati Forum and thanks Jon. -
I'm Back With A Hyper 1100!
Its nice to be back on a Duke again, just picked this up during the week, a 2012 Hypermotard 1100 Evo SP. Only 20k kms and full history, all keys, new Pirellis and lots of nice goodies. Havent had a road bike proper since my Pani last year, been concentrating on the MX. Bought a new 350 six days as well for the season. Only issue I'm finding is the battery in this seems pretty crap due to lack of use, starts eventually, runs for a bit but doesnt seem to be want to start again too easily. Have it on charge at the mo so I'll check it again tomorrow. Lots of nice bits on it but could really do with a nice pipe if anyone has one for sale. Would I need the ECU to match I wonder? -
Ducati Forum: Our 2 Strokes
There has been quite a few threads regarding 2 Strokes but I though we needed one to show Forum Members what we have sharing the home / garage / shed with our Ducati's & other 4 Strokes.
Post pictures of your currently owned 2 Strokes here!
I will start (now I finally own one) but you may have seen it cropping up here and there in various threads anyway as I am excited about it
1972 Yamaha YR5 350cc
The bike was purchased at Octobers Bonham's Auction and turned out to be a little belter, with not much needed to fettle it. A Carb rebuild kit was ordered and fitted, some Gazi rear shocks and a dinky front mudguard (still need to countersink the bolts)
It was sadly from a deceased's estate but I really like what the chap did with it, he had a good eye for detail and overall style I think.
I have been wanting a stroker for a number of years but didn't know what to go for, until I saw this in the catalogue.
Dragged it out of the kitchen today to finally get some better pictures... -
899 Px'd My 899
When I bought it , it had 600 miles on it with the first device done so the bloke who bought it new took the depreciation hit. I've had it 2 years and loved it ( still love there @Cream_Revenge ) but it was never a 'forever bike, if there is such a thing!
What with the new v4's and fe's i can only see the value of the baby pani and any none S /R varients for that matter plummeting further, so i px'd it with something of similar value(ish) whilst they still were similar.
I take delivery of a 1198s next week......i also managed to get a 851 in on the deal for a slight cash adjustment .
Ill post pics when they arrive!! -

£40.00 Ohlins!
I’ve had my monster for just over a week, I’ve always lusted after the 1100s (you know how it is)
Anyway, riding home from the shop where I bought it, to say I wasn’t impressed would be an understatement. The power is fantastic, as is the torque. The brakes are brilliant, as are the new Pirelli’s.
I couldn’t help feeling however that it was going to have me off!
I hadn’t test ridden it prior to purchase, if I had I might not be writing this.
The feel of the bike was unpredictable, the forks and shock felt wooden. Into corners it was ponderous and sometimes scary, it would push wide and if you hit anything then whoa it’s tippy toe time.
Even on a smooth surface there was no feel, other than that of impending doom.
I’m now thinking, how much money is this going to take to fix, or is this the way these things are until you get to warp factor 3...
A member here ‘Borgo Panigale’ recommended I contact Teut at TW Suspension Tech in Preston.
I did, and arranged to go yesterday;... -

Escaped!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The marvellous and somewhat fabulous Miss Ducbird is currently residing in hospital as from today, which could be for as long as 6 weeks, taking us up until Christmas before we see her escape back to her family.
Although she is as hard as Nails I felt a little support thread for this major stage in her recovery would hopefully help a little
Maybe she will check in an give us updates, and we can support her when she gets a little fed up!
Even I will try and keep on topic too (but here's a picture of my new little Yam again...)
Only joking: over to the DF Army -

The Morning After
Okay so it's the morning after what was an unsatisfactory and disappointing production for many but the fact remains after all the speculation, the new bikes for 2018 have been presented to the public. Who is going to have what ?
I'll start as I put a deposit down on the Panigale V4 Speciale this morning although I'm not holding out a huge amount of hope as I am 1 of 4 people to do so at Moto Rapido since 27th October. Too soon to quantify allocations to dealers so it's a waiting game for the moment. Andy -
