No sleep for you tonight then! You'll have your work cut out tomorrow fitting all those bits. Take your time fitting the underseat panels or it could end in tears.
Not really. It's easy for you really as you'll be looking at the ones you'll be fitting. At the back end where there's that tab folded at 90 degrees... The plastic ones will bend out easy because they flex but you have to be a bit more careful with the CF ones as obviously they don't flex. Get the back end done as soon as the middle part tab is fitted under the seat. (IIRC)
Oh and put a rag or something around the tank to avoid scratching it. Just above where the seat meets the tank. You'll see why once you start.
Thanks for the advice... So far have fitted the seat, the carbon, taken off most of the stickers, fitted the new cables, still have the grips, crash bungs and the sprocket to go on
I had those exact number board stickers on my 1098 when I bought it. I thought they looked a bit too busy with the green bits and logos. First thing I did was take them off. I was a bit nervous incase they were hiding something underneath. Luckily all was well and well preserved in fact as new! I do like plain white boards so had the nose and tail painted in the 'R' colours. I'd definitely recommend having the pegs, stand and other silverware anodised as I did it looks much better. Have fun!.
A local painter 'Custom Paint and Airbrushing' only cost £200 for the nose and tail, even has the gold pinstripe. I put white 'DUCATI' on the tank and '1098' fairing decals over the silver ones myself. Very pleased with the results.
Gave the bike a good polish and am very impressed with the condition, will hopefully get a coat of wax on it on Wednesday! Have now fitted the grips which took all of a minute! Just trying to find somewhere locally to anodise a few bits and possibly polish the exhaust. I also need to get a new number plate ordered too, not sure how small to go without taking the piss!
Number plates has now arrived, just waiting for the tail tidy and the oberon, I managed to get rid of the fogged headlights with the two 2mm holes which is a bonus.
Looks great ditchvisitor - I've just got a 1098s myself - pretty standard except for termi cans and am looking at doing much of what you are doing. Got some carbon on order... Which tail tidy did you go for?
I have this one on mine, Evotech one. Got it from Conquest Carbon - Ducati 848 1098 1198 Complete Tail Tidy Plate Hanger KIT | eBay
Thanks Pavey - any chance you could post a pic of how it looks with the 7x5 plate? - blank out the lettering of course.. I was looking at this one or the r&g one which is more cash and looks like it needs some wiring mods. Apologies for the thread creep..
No worries at all, I've gone for an R&G purely because I got it used but brand new for a great price.
