They usually knock the lockstops off and also cut the speed sensor wire to the front wheel which looks to have happened when you watch the video and the dash.
Yeah' the first part of not crashing went ok. The second not so much! Apologies for my presentation skills in that video - safe to say it wasn't the most fun!
I think I'm going to go for a brand new one or at least one that's not yet been fitted. The damage appears to be purely the lock stops but I haven't had it stripped down yet.
I was wondering why that came up but believed there was a sensor down there. I'll have a good look when I take a few bits off etc.
Fairings come up on here now and then, don't even think about paying 1800 for them brand new. Much cheaper to have redone professionally if you don't want second hand ones.
If you are going to be doing trackdays then I'd suggest some crash protection, we use RnG stuff on the race bikes and it does the job. Case covers, axle sliders and lock stops would have prevented a lot of that damage. The big crash bungs are probably a bit un-sightly for a road bike but they work really well, they often save panel damage too. I've crashed a few times on the 899 and on two occasions the bike has been rideable afterwards and they weren't slow crashes. It can mean the difference between an early bath and finishing the rest of your day. I'll see if I can dig out a few pics.
I've got some bits on the way already! A bit of shutting the stable door after the horse has bolted but it won't hurt. Ive only got one more day before I'm likely gonna be laid up after an op so will review whether I want to continue tracking the 1199 or get something for the purpose.
We've all crashed & a few of mine have been video'd & shared online before now. It's great that the wider biking community see these videos & get a moment to think over their own actions & reactions. On the upside you will have a full set of panels that you can get sprayed specifically for track use?!?
