http://ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/misted-headlights-998.10482/ You do need to remove the headlight to do it properly, however, once done it will last for 10 years. You don't need to use methylated spirit unless you want to risk the glass parting company with the plastic body.
Both fairings off, nose cone off, measure the length of the headlight adjuster bolt then undo, disconnect from wiring loom, pull the headlight unit off of the tangs. The left headlight needs the lens unit removing (just two screws) the right just needs the bulb removing. Remember not to touch the bulbs. Now for the lenses, I used window cleaner then rubbing alcohol neither worked. The frosting is a hard residue so I ended up using a cotton cloth and elbow grease, adding any kind of liquid seemed to stop the removal of the residue. Just rub and the cloth will do the work.
Resurrecting this thread... i have a 2002 748s and am possibly on the hunt for some carbon Termi's, i hacent measured my exhaust system yet... the carbon cans seem to be all 50mm? Is there a neat way of joining to my system if mine turns out to be 45mm? Regards Peter
Peter, yours will be 45mm at the collector. To confirm, check the part number on your collector, for your MY02 bike they are likely the final (Zeuna) ones, part number is behind the right footpeg and it is either 570.1.057.1A for the Zeuna or 570.1.030.1A for the earlier standard Termi alternative. Both have 45mm connections for the silencers. A lot of cans are advertised as 50mm based on the silencer outlet size, some 50mm outlet pipes are 45mm at the collector and some are 50mm at the collector. It depends on which model they were originally supplied for, need to check before buying. If you get some, it is easier when fitting them to begin by starting the screws on the strap to the vibration mount, offer it all up loose, then start the screws on the vibration mount to subframe. Put the springs on and give it all a wiggle and then insert the rear screw, then tighten up the vibration mounts and strap screws.
Good man! So this means change the system? No adapters? Can you get 45mm dia carbon cans?!?! Cheers Peter Ps... i prob cant be bothered to change entire system.... as i gather it needs a chip change ideally to match?!?
Termignoni still sell 45mm carbon end cans for the 748 if you can’t find a decent pair second hand and the price difference is not actually that much given how much the second hand ones trade at. Andy
Again...good man...any tips on uk suppliers? All i have found is 50mm so far.... Would consider new if i can just swap cans. Cheers Peter
Peter, if you get the right cans its a 30 minute job to change them. There are other cans available which are not as expensive and you can get stainless or titanium sleeve options.
Thanks! To be honest i will get the carbon termis or just stick with my alloy ones. I like the sound of my alloy ones but have a certain itch for the carbon version. Cheers Peter
