You pose a set of interesting questions. To be frank what we don't fully scientifically understand the establishment has used the "it doesn't exist" routine to alleviate questions. An example; NASA has done this regarding the study of what is now coined upper-atmospheric elves & sprites. The American military U-2 pilots to my recollection (1960's) reported strange massive coloured phenomenon above storm clouds. Which for quite a few decades we're ignored because it was placed into the UFO catagory. Both UK & USA have had massive funded covert studies on UAV (unidentified ariel vehicles). They just like to create terms that outsiders or the general public is not aware of due to security clearence. And fully pretend people are lunatics/nutjobs which is obviously quite offensive. Just to belittle the inquistive natured citizens from going along with these events & keeping silent. There is an American study I can't recall the name but its like Project Blue book & they were basically a think-tank assigned with the "what if" scenario's. And they concluded if general public discovered advanced civilizations & vehicles were coming here. That society would literally fall apart & people become hysterical to the point of been incapacitated.
