1200 DVT Front And Rear Brakes Question.

  1. Resistance is futile.

  2. Bloody predictive text !

    :(

  3. Does anyone know decent replacements pads for the non-S / base dvt mutley model, please? Tia
By the way the base model front & rear brakes are great.

  4. It's weird I had a 2011 Multi and the back brake was non existent. Had a RT1200 LC after that and the back brake was great. Now have the DVT which I love but the back break needs really bossing with a heavy boot then I can make the abs come in okay (just a yardstick, not my normal method of riding). To say it's a Ducati thing is not quite right as I had a Monster while the DVT was getting its first service and that had a great back brake. I think the small pedal on the Multi and the need to 'toe-in' to use it doesn't help. However after 2,000 miles I can use it pretty well with extra 'push' compared to what the RT needed. I've thought of trying a bigger pedal e.g. From the adventure, or a mod but now I've got used to it, it's not such a priority.

The back brake on this Enduro is way better than my '10 MTS, but, after only 1500 miles the disc has gone a bronze colour. Seems like overheating, as if the 'hill hold' device isn't releasing the pads fully?

  6. My 2017 1200S is the same.

I fitted a pedal extender so can now press no issue but it's also quite easy to drag brake without realising

On my 2015 I incorrectly adjusted the brake free play reseting the pedal position

    Wheel turned freely on stand

Took it for a ride next morning

Less than mile from home and bike was not pulling well slowed down as soon as I let go throttle

Pulled over as soon as I could less than 2 miles from home and a mile from when I noticed issue to find a glowing red rear disc....

Slackened off pedal - let it all cool - no issues

Disc was a blue straw colour everywhere and a witness of slight high spots next to drilled holes

Brakes still worked fine no warp

So the discoloration you see is nothing to worry about.

  7. Discolouration isn't anything to be majorly concerned about. It's probably got hot at some point but isn't an indicator that it's continuing to do so. The only thing to worry about is whether the overheating has caused it to warp, which is likely if it's a continuing issue. If it's warped then you'd be able to feel it.
