1200 Fuel Gauge

  1. I can't believe I actually used to run my first bike - a Honda CB250 - until it started misfiring and then scrabbled around under the tank to push the fuel tap lever round to reserve!

  2. Saga continues. On the 2011 MTS, the fuel gauge shows full (10 bars) - and does not drop even after 100 miles or more. Needs further attention.
On the 2015 DVT, fuel gauge shows full when tank is full, then drops rapidly until it shows nearly empty - but only 12 litres of fuel will go in, so the empty reading is false. Also the trip miles resets to zero at each key-on (when in Miles, not in Kilometers), so it's not easy to keep track that way.

  3. I've only filled my tank (2015 DVT) a couple of times so haven't a huge amount to go on, but I have noticed that the orange light has come on, correctly, when there were 2 bars on the gauge.
However, I have only needed between 12.5 and 13 litres to fill the tank. This suggests that there was around 7 litres in the tank when, according to the manual, there should be around 4.
I guess it's better that it is underestimating rather than overestimating the mount of fuel left in the tank but it doesn't inspire confidence in the accuracy of the gauge or the range (not that it is much use with it resetting on every power off).

  4. Getting worse I'm afraid. Today the gauge dropped to empty, red flashing, range showing zero. Filled the tank, it only took 11 litres (so it must have still had c. 9 litres in). After filling, gauge still shows empty, red flashing.

  5. Sounds the same as my problem, mines being replaced (on my 2011 bike) on Thursday

  6. My 2015 DVT fuel gauge also only needs 13 or so litres when it's down to two bars. Today I filled it up with 10 miles range left and one bar on the display, it took just 16 litres to fill the tank. When I started the bike, it showed half full. I only rode a couple of miles before stopping for most of the day, when I started it again the gauge showed full :(

  7. It is in the manual that the fuel software may NOT reset after every stop especially if ignition isn't turned off. So those saying after fill up it showed the same amount and then changed later to the correct amount, I'd say this is working as per the manual and thus correctly.

  8. Hilarious - P&H just rang me, they have fitted the new fuel sender but it's working in reverse. When the bike is full it shows empty and when it's empty it shows full!

Apparently the last software update didn't include the full sender software???
They are trying to resolve it before they put the bike back together.
