  1. Not sure if this has been mentioned on here, a conversation regarding cost, and the prices varied considerably.

I/we currently have a large double garage with one large up and over door, needs replacing.
The current one is crap, the whole install looks wrong, so needs to be fitted from scratch.

    This is in Northamptonshire.

  2. Have you considered a electric roller shutter for ease :thinkingface:you just need to check vehicle height clearance etc:upyeah:

  3. We got a new remote controlled garage door back in Feb/March time - think it was £1180 fitted.

  4. Wessex doors did okay for me when I accidently forgot to stop reversing...

  5. I'd would love to but extra cost, won't happen. Although I will try. I'm trying to get someone else to pay for it.

  6. Was that a single door? If not that's a very good price.

If it was a large double door can you remember the company name, if they were a national company?

  7. It was a single BUT I could have had 2 for just under £1500 (we have two separate garages - but I kept the other as it was as it's where I keep my bikes and its a real heavy and thick door [4" thick if not thicker] and it'd take someone a fair bit of effort to try and break in).

They were a local company to us but I can't think what they were called as SWMBO dealt with them.

  8. Crikey. Paid a lot more for a solid oak garage door and it doesn’t even auto open. May as well park a flinstone car in it : unamused:

  9. Was quoted 2.4k for large double (1 door) roller. I guess that's probably about right based on El T price for a single door.

Insulated with alarm, I think automated.
No issue with the price, Just that for a manual with none of the bells was 2.1K

They said, most double garages now have two single doors, not 1 large door.
This is true for my one at home.

I was told a single cheap door was £650, so was thinking / hoping about £1200-ish for basic steel, manual.

Oh well, it is what it is...

    Thanks for the info.

  10. What's a mortgage? :p
