  1. No mate you didn't bore me! My dad is in a nearly identical situation to you, treated him for cancer with a 9 hour whipples surgery and he recovered the sillyness of covid ment he wasn't watched during his precautionary chaemo so he developed bi-lateral pneumonia nearly died twice 4 weeks into his recovery what did the hospital give him yes covid 19 but he battled and came through although extremely weak so his blood markers showed signs of cancer again so he's back now under treatment of very high intensity chemotherapy!! Always question the hospital there's too much admiration at the minute when covid dies down there will be a lot of scandals about people being let down!!! Best of look buddy and keep up the good fight!

  2. Sorry to hear your story.

I wish you good luck with this.

  3. The 'chemo' I had raises my immunity which is supposed to fight the cancer cells. This is what they say hasn't worked....I'm not really surprised in some ways, because all my other meds mean I have a very low immunity anyway.....so possibly a bad starting point.

There is another 'chemo' which kills the cells when they are located on a surface.....I was supposed to have a dose of that within 5 hours of the first operation to remove the tumour. I didn't get that until 18 hours after.

Besides, if they hadn't got all the cells out during that operation, maybe that wasn't going to work anyway; but if they are now saying the cells are still on the surface, perhaps this what they could use.

I still think there is a choice of either 'chemo' courses.

Unfortunately, one treatment that I think I could handle is radiotherapy having survived 57 years from having bowel cancer, but apparently radiotherapy cannot be used unless the cancer is deeply embedded, rather than on the surface.....(goes to show how bad the bowel cancer was.....and then, just a minor amount of tissue was removed so they could patch up the holes in the bowel).

Still WTF, I ain't avin' it.

  5. Well, that has cheered me up a bit.

Had a sensible discussion over the phone with the specialist at the other hospital.

He now fully understands my predicament and actually agrees that I am not a suitable candidate for radical surgery to remove part of my anatomy.

He is writing to my local consultants to tell them the same and that I should be started on another course of the 'chemo' but delayed until the virus cases have eased off rising in the area.

    Phew!

  6. That’s good news Al

  7. Hi Al,

Just read through the posts, sorry to hear about your situation. Your last post sounds slightly more positive.

Not sure if you remember, but our paths have crossed .... albeit many years ago. Back in Ducatisti days, between us we sorted out some club decals, you designed them and I had them made up by Image Works and distributed them, still have a couple stuck on the shelf in the garage

  8. I guess it is reasonably good news....at least I keep my anatomy in one piece.....but I still have the cancer.
    Thanks all.

Carbon749....of course I remember.....I might still have the designs on my PC or an external hard drive.
I could probably modify the designs (or re-do them) if people thought it was worth doing.

  10. Can't find them.....they may be on one of the many discs I have stashed away.

There were about 4 designs, each in two sizes IIRC.

If I had photos of them, I could re-do them fairly quickly.

Here is an easy one I did for my bike.....

  11. coolio.... thanks, have a good rummage when you feel like it.

  12. Bugger...hope it all goes well.
It seems the new team is taking your observations in account.

  13. Think you are right, mainly white and mainly black, in small and large .... all gel coated, so that they had a dome affect to them.

I'll try to dig some pic's out, but, swapped lap tops about 3 times since then, so may have to take a few new pics.

Update : look what I found in my Yahoo in box .... April / May 2010

  14. OK, well I can modify the design to suit the 'Ducati Forum' if it's worth doing.

No problem to modify them either I or Carbon749 own the copyright (or jointly).

Will have a go in the next few days.

  15. With regard to my little old cancer problem.......I have been waiting to hear what the second specialist consultant has told my local specialists.....

....got a call this morning from the local team nurse that administers the 'chemo'.....she wanted too know how my discussion with the second specialist consultant went.......she was supposed to be copied into the letter that the local team were being sent, but no, she hadn't got a copy and neither had the local team.

Then I get a phone call four hours later from a private hospital where one of the local team consultants also works, trying to arrange an appointment with him......I pointed out that I wasn't a private patient......

As I suspected many times, there is no 'information co-ordination' whatsoever.

I am now waiting for more phone calls......Fucking Hell!

  17. Best of luck to you Al in getting the right advice and treatment, make a pest of yourself. Stay positive!

  18. Makes you wonder why they have computer systems
I had the same problem having to go between 2 hospital teams
Aspheris line was the best I was sent home and no one had seen one back home (not the one I had)
2hrs later and numerous phone calls I was able to have it bled and re sealed

  19. Sorry to hear about the lack of coordination. My wife has been through the mill with cancer this year.
Although generally the hospital and treatment has been very good the lack of coordination is startling.
You would think a central computer would solve all this but the amount of calls and appointments that were incorrect!

Fortunately my Mrs is an unbelievably good organiser and has a natural talent for understanding all things medical. She often told them what should be happening next and where she should be. Only to get a call back saying ‘yes you are correct’.

So keep your eye on things and make sure they do the joining up. You’re doing the right thing checking they have gone over everything correctly. I always think they check your name and date of birth enough times, there’s nothing wrong with you checking they’ve done their bit correctly.

Good luck Al. Hope you get the result you want and need.

Stick your head in a bike, it’ll keep your mind off things and do you good. Don’t even think of selling the Harley. Just looking at it and maintaining it is enough to justify it in your situation.
If you sell it the money will only slip through your fingers.

  20. I was micro managing my stuff
I went into hospital and was given an injection which had to be mixed and the nurse doing it didn’t know what to do and was about to ask someone.
I had already done this at home myself so I had to show her what to do.

I knew what to do with my line as I had been given the medication to seal it but it had to be confirmed before it was administered

    Centrally communication is shocking
