Oh and him, had the pleasure of a weekend with him, Whitham and Stephan Everts in Mettet about 10 years ago at a super moto event. We were Stalkers pit crew lol
Was on top gear with steve berry and co , doing a feature on the honda fireblade at the time a group of us were called the a team . Should have been a whole programe on the fire blade but ended up a 15 min slot due to us overtaking a local magistrate knee down lol bbc would only show selected scenes
I've met a lot of famous people in the course of my,"employment",mostly musos with a bit of politics and a smattering of royalty thrown in. Stand-outs are Eric Clapton,Andy Fairweather-Low,(a true gent),and ,(perhaps surprisingly), Bob Monkhouse, who would seek out all the of the crew individually before the first gig, glean a few details about you etc, just so he could thank us all publicly when he took his bows, with a mention of how far you'd travelled etc. But also an awful lot of egotistical arseholes, each with a lickspittle entourage hanging on their meaningless utterances..ugh!
I've met Gary Newman (really nice guy) Jay Kay (ditto, and one HELL of a driver) and was on ITV Look East in the background of a shot from the hot rod show at Knebworth, chundering behind a hotrod! I once got so heroically drunk at a car show (over a girl!) that I couldn't work out how to use the door lock on my caravan, so slept underneath it. The next morning I woke up, crawled out then opened the never locked door and went inside. Its no claim to fame, but hey, it kinda is!
Another one I've just remembered... We were invited by men and motors to appear on a new show called Ice with Jordan... You guessed it Vanilla Ice and Jordan, they filmed all day using my ZX6 and my mates R1 and his CR250, had VI riding my bike, rolling stop pies, burn outs plus Jordan pillion... Then he went BIG on my mates CR, 50 foot nack nacks, tail whips etc... Didn't realise VI was solo good on a bike until I watched something on MTV and he's an ex national MX champ
