when i seen you tagged me on this i thought how did you know i had been reading about ian hamilton Q.C this week.? as for the grammar don't blame me, blame darden.
not sure who or what "darden" is. But older people like you and me were either taught well in school or not. I went to a good state school. Others were not so lucky. And I have every sympathy with them. However the yoof of today however well taught are completely under the spell of the Internet and the Estuary English of celebs - even the two princes - which is a shame and leads to a degradation of expression. We have a great language that's as close to a world language as it gets. I for one would like to celebrate that fact without being called names like Grammar Nazi and Pedant. What's wrong with that?
nowt wrong with it. and will be fine for the stage in a few years. personally i find regional dialect and words are far more interesting.
I don't like private education. In England it creates divisiveness. Both my children did brilliantly in the state sector.
You can be as pedantic as you please with your own writings, and nobody will mind at all. It is getting pedantic about other peoples' choices of words which gets up their noses.
