Just start saying your prayers, or his mates will be after revenge.
Have you seen those prehistoric behemoths at Philip Island race circuit? I wouldn’t fancy one of those in the napper at 150mph!!
Might do in my dreams tonight but I think she was a pretty astute chick and soon sussed that I was old and smelled of wee,…..so she did a runner
Genuinely nice of her to stop though, a good heart …appreciated it
You knocked the shit out of that bird !
I’ll get my coat
I'm not a pheasant plucker,
But a pheasant plucker's son,
And I'll sit here plucking pheasants,
'Til the pheasant plucking's done.
Was up there on Saturday and the amount of roadkill was impressive.
I bet that hurt.
War paint required !
How about a couple of stickers of feathers on your lid !!
I had one smack into my throat on a ride
Bloody hurts probably around 80mph
Just this morning had a flying scarab beetle hit me in the left eye, I was doing maybe 40-50km/h, just hadn't got visor down.. short morning ride and all that. It got me bang in eye, instant vision loss and stacks of tears....
Suffice to say from now on it's visor down if I'm moving. You have no time at all to react, they are too small to see until they are ~4 metres away...but big enough to cause real damage.
(I've also been hit by a pigeon on the top of my helmet, only just hung on by the very ends of my fingertips!)
Hope the pheasant is okay
I've hit a seagull on my lid doing about 40 mph, left me with ringing ears, good job i had a full face helmet on.
Seagull fared far worse... Last saw spiralling to the ground
Ouch , glad you're still hear to tell the tale, not much room for error on that road at the best of times.
Head butted a pigeon a few years ago at about 70, had a headache for days afterwards.
I’ll take your pheasant and raise you with a SWAN! Ludlow to Bridgenorth, swan takes off from a field adjacent to me. I can see that we are on a collision course. I duck, the swan clips to top of my helmet as it flew over me. Feathers and shit everywhere. Sore neck for a week.
I believe you are not allowed to pick up road kill you have killed for your consumption but if someone is with you they can pick it up. HTH
I've heard that too, although I very much doubt any policeman or court would bother with something so trivial.
I was hit by a pigeon on the shoulder last year at about 50mph. Saw it coming at the last second and no time to react. My mates following all shouting wtf over the intercoms as they rode through the cloud of feathers. Pigeon flew off ! They're hard as fuck
I’ve hit a Partridge on the bike. Small game in this racket but I just wanted to be included.
Gave it a warriors burial in an unmarked grave in Sussex. Poor little bugger
getting hit by a stone is bad enough. Last time out at Donington I got hit in the arm twice, the bruising was epic.
getting hit in the neck is another thing all together, it’s like being shot
Yep, I think the worst thing is how much it makes you jump out your skin, its that sudden what the actual fuck just happened there feeling lol.
Also had a deer jump over a hedge and run across my path while i was doing around the legal limit *ahem, turns your stomach right over.
I remember an 'urban legend' story from the early days of the internet...
A jet engine company was testing their engines for resilience to bird strikes by firing chickens into a running engine on a test bed. They had an abnormal failure rate, so had to investigate the safety of the engine design. Turned out the tests were being conducted with chickens that were still frozen...
I have a German mate who works for a helicopter company and they have a bird impact strike calculator, so he pumped some rough figures into it, bird weight, speed etc and the figures it spat out were -
32 meters per second closing speed, 340 kgs impact force for a duration of 0.02 seconds !
Can anyone recommend a decent thin chest protector please
If your jacket has the inner pockets in the lining, I still have these, https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/dainese-nw-double-chest-protector.81211/ Andy
