I’ve removed this Termi exhaust from my recently acquired 999 that I’m returning to standard condition. It’s a 2005 black swing-arm model, but this Termi exhaust looks to have been, ahem, adapted to fit - most notably where it passes the side of the swing-arm. I assume a correct system for this bike would be the banana version to clear the swingarm correctly. It looks to be a symmetrical 57mm 2-1-2 system with a titanium non-baffled silencer. All the associated bits seem to be present with a re-mapped ECU to suit. Can anyone confirm what model 749 / 999 this was designed to fit - grey cast swing-arm / deep sump models? Would that only be the R models? The other thing is whether the two areas of damage can be readily repaired, both where it’s been knocked in to clear the swing-arm but also at the bottom where it has also deformed with scrapes - not sure what’s happened there. Both dents are relatively close to a joint, so access isn’t too bad, but not sure how successful dent removal would be. Any recommendations for a repair shop very welcome. Lastly, any opinion on if there’s a market for this and what a reasonable price would be (once the dents are repaired). Cheers, Jonathan
You are correct, the banana system is the only one which will fit the black swingarm and deep sump in its original state.
Thanks - so this system is only for grey swing arm models. It routed around the deep sump on my 2005 999 but I wonder if it will also fit shallow sump models too? Otherwise I assume it only fits the early 999R’s with the grey swing arm and nothing else?
I have a very early 57mm system on both my 749Rs. These are for deep sump with black swingarm. Both are ‘round’ without the squashed banana feature behind the RH footrest. They both have the same carbon heatshield as pictured by the OP and appear very similar overall to what the OP has posted. So, not quite true that the ‘banana system’ is the only one that fits black swingarm/deep sump.
Thanks Ricky - I’ve re-measured and it is in-fact 57mm throughout all the main pipes, reducing to 54mm only where the two pipes connect to the silencer (where I originally measured and wrongly assumed it to be a 54mm system). Your feedback combined with the useful chart posted by Swali 999, would likely make this a deep sump / black swing arm system, although why someone has mullered the section of pipe by the swing arm to fit my 2005 999 is anyone’s guess, perhaps they didn’t have it aligned correctly and just bashed away to get it to fit I’ve taken a couple of clearer photos of the dents, if anyone can suggest anywhere that may be able to repair these based on good experience, that would be great.
Thanks again Ricky - a bit more searching and I have the same system per this old for sale post on here, everything matches exactly, so confirmed what it is I have now. Just need to get the dents sorted https://www.ducatiforum.co.uk/threads/termignoni-57mm-symmetric-exhaust-system-999-ecu.73860/
