I saw on BBC that Maclaren have changed their designs again, and are now fitting a tank under the driver accessible by knees. It is understood, from testing results at a British circuit recently, to materially affect positively braking distance.

They are anticipating 3 metre gains and 27% less brake wear.

I also read Yamaha are looking at the same. ‘It can’t be any worse, can it?!’ Said Lin Jarvis.

Give the lid to your local St Johns, or similar for training purposes - I am sure @Sambighair will point you in the direction of who to give it to.

 

I don’t hold on to the tank, but tend to go with the CSS method of moving off the side of the seat ready for the corner and using the inner thigh of my outside leg on the back of the tank to support me.
