Honda XR600 - i don't remember the exact year of each bike. I've owned them around ten years and both were running when i bought them. XR is kickstart only, XL has an electric start. I looked over them briefly recently and both engines turn. As you can see, far from ideal "storage" conditions but a combination of factors meant i had no choice over the years. I have logbooks in my name for both. They are more or less complete but can't find the plastic XR tank at the moment. I would split depending on interest, but just to clear i would like £700 for the pair.* To keep thread clear could i ask anyone who is seriously interested to Direct/Private message me in the first instance. Bikes are in Surrey * EDIT:- Bike is pretty much spoken for, as i have a deposit. Will confirm at the end of February.
If anybody's out there then perhaps the simple way forward is to make one out of the two and sell the remaining parts as spares...........just a thought.
Bump - if anyone already has either of these, then you won't find a cheaper complete spare engine anywhere, I promise you. Breakers probably ask a similar amount just for the lovely pumper carburettors. and those of you that are aware of the folklore surrounding the "XR" version, these probably still command 5 to 6K in reasonable condition. It's a long time since I've looked. Again, no need to correct me on this thread, just send me a direct message if you are seriously interested.
If I had the room and it wasn't at the other end of the country I'd have them. Definitely fancy that XR The frame looks very clean. There's the makings of a fine project there. As it is my lock-up is rammed. I've got three bikes in there, only one is running and I'm contemplating buying a fourth. A basket case 1980's rebuild is exactly what I need... There's a cracking bike inside those two waiting to come out though. Hope they find a home soon and we can follow events on the builds and projects forum.
I am desperately resisting them, and Chris is only 1/2hr away. I just don't have the space, but if I did they'd have been with me by now.
I need another project like a hole in the head, but seriously tempted, even if I just pick it up and it just lives in a corner.
it looks as though this is good news, "one down and one to go". The remaining motorbike is the 600 R*, I will just say £400 to go. NOTE* I have a deposit for 600R and will confirm sale at end of month.
any preferences for the next one? I have: – 2 x Cagiva Elefant 750 1989 Ducati 900ss Monster 600 Cagiva Mito Unfortunately all needing various amounts of work, not looking to answer any questions on these, but I do have to decide on the next one.
