UK house prices surge:London leads charge with biggest property market rise for 18 months as buyers shake off 'Brexit drama' House prices rose at their fastest pace in 18 months in February with the London market rebounding “at an astounding rate” after three years of flatlining. Across the country, prices were up by 2.3 per cent year on year, the biggest annual jump since July 2018, according to latest figures from Nationwide. The charge is being led by the capital, where buyers have flooded back since Boris Johnson’s election win. Guy Harrington, chief executive of property lender Glenhawk, said: “Just how quickly the market seems to have recovered may be surprising even the most optimistic of observers.” Jonathan Hopper, chief executive of buyers Garrington Property Finders, said: “2020 is off to a flying start, as the flock of New Year househunters has been swelled by thousands of would-be buyers who sat on their hands last year while the Brexit drama played out.” Agents Chestertons said the number of buyers registering in Notting Hill had more than doubled in January and February compared with 2019. Sellers are also returning, Chestertons said, with 31 per cent more properties coming on the market across London, and 64 per cent more in central locations. Coronavirus has come at a strange time for the capital’s property market. The share of Chinese buyers in prime central London (PCL) has just hit an all-time high. While the proportion of the capital's most expensive homes bought by international buyers fell 3 per cent year-on-year in the last six months of 2019, the Chinese buyer share increased to record levels, according to Hamptons International. They accounted for 6 per cent of all PCL sales.
Pleased for you. However that report above is contrary to a report that Zoopla published saying that that cities outside the south of England saw the biggest rises in prices, partly as a result of their relative affordability. Depends who you believe and what you want to hear I guess
House prices are like pensions are like having a poop, the skill is in the timing and avoiding splashback.
Rubbish. The skill is flinging your poo at the neighbouring clan and then racing back to your village before they can fling it back.
To be honest I cannot see prices around here (West Londonstan) going up until the Black Death and the Third Run way are resolved. Zoopla is now as popular as the "Sun in Liverpool" and not considered a useful site any longer. https://uk.trustpilot.com/review/www.zoopla.co.uk If you check out the "Excellent" ratings these are written by bot farms... ratings of just 1 or 2. The "Bad" ratings are real people. E.g. This web it is a JOKE This web it is a JOKE. Valuation service they use it is even more terrible JOKE. Very poor quality of service and information. Avoid. Example: How exactly the same terrace houses can have a different of £50000 in valuation? Not to mention, the cheaper one is better maintained and has conservatory and two bathrooms instead of one. I wonder if someone really does use brain this days. AVOID.
Opinions are like arseholes. Everyone's got one. Like I said it depends on who you believe and/or what you want to hear.
