How Do My Belts Look...

Discussion in 'Technical Help' started by RC1, Jul 29, 2016.

  1. Thread on here somewhere, possibly "gathering of the clan", to meet at Super Sausage on A5 just north of MK on Sunday 21st IIRC.

  2. A. Are you sure?
    &
    B. Are you sure about that too?

  3. Think they are 20mm or 21mm, can't be arsed to go and get the verniers. Not 22 though :)

  4. Well I can undersand the width being different, you'd know better than anyone. It was the point about having to change them anually that peaked my interest. I've never heard of this on any of the belt drive bikes, so thought it strange that the 748R would be any different. But you learn something every day, if it's true.

  5. I think it is true, I remember it being mentioned before at least.

  6. Well it being mentioned on here doesn't necassarily make it true. Have you seen some of the 'facts' posted over the last couple of months. :Hilarious:

Anyhoo, one reason not to buy a 748R then. Seems an expansive thing to have to do anually. :Wideyed:

Of course, I hear about some 'Exact' belts or something. Stronger than titanium, lighter than carbon fibre. I'm sure you'd only have to change them once a decade*, :)

    * Stick the tenner in the post. :Angelic:

  7. First service

Within 6 Months or 600 miles of the PDI

    Subsequent services (Pre 2007)

    As a rough guide a 12 month service onany Ducati will cost you approximately £200 Inc parts and vat, this is dependant on mileage and belt intervals, so please give us a call for full details and costings. A brief guide;

Servicing is within every 12 months or every 6000 miles from date of PDI (which ever is sooner)
Cam-belts are replaced on the 2-year or 12000 miles intervals. Which ever is sooner!
The exception is the older 748R, this has a 12 month 6000 mile cam-belt replacement schedule.

(For the 2007 model range onwards Ducati has adopted a new low cost service structure along similar lines to the advise given during my time at Moto Cinelli, effectively if the machine has not covered the required mileage then the '12 month' service becomes a 'basic' oil change and safety check. Service mileage has also been increased to 7000 miles! For further details see www.ducati.com)
